So yeah I like 3D Prince of Persia, it's an ok platformer. In fact I said several times that one of the things that consoles do good is platformers as it's their genre.

But your point is? Ah sorry I forgot you are one of those morons who think that I hate games because they are games/console/3d/new. Pick your favorite option(s).
Sorry to disappoint you but I hate shit games because they are shit. Sometimes a reason is that simple, bro.

Yeah guys - just buy more copies of this dull piece of shit and maybe, just maybe developers will see the light and stop being such lazy cash-whores and make a game worth playing for more than a hour because as we all know when crap sells as it is - it leads to more good games.

3/10 Needs some work. Honestly if I were you I'd just stick with the standard: 'Banal. Shit Boring.' meme.

You're a fucking tard metro. For all of skyway's "banal, shit, boring", he made a good point. The thought that you support a shit game so the developers may make it better in the future is completely fucking retarded.

With 10,000+ posts in two years I'd guess he's bound to string together a few cogent thoughts here and there. That you think the game is 'shit' is an opinion, not fact. The fact that you used the insult 'tard,' well... defies commentary.

I hope you can see the problem in both

1) spending money on a 'skeletal game' in the hope that more DLC for it is released and then purchasing that DLC to fill out that skeletal game

and

2) spending money on a dull game that will cause developers to want to make more dull games

You misinterpreted what I said. The fact that it will likely be supported in the future is appealing to me. That doesn't mean I don't think it shipped with enough content, it means it has a framework that makes it easy to add more content. And, again, you think it's dull, I enjoy playing it. Don't like it, don't buy it, problem solved.

Well I gotta say I'm having an absolute blast playing this game. Suprised the shit outta me.

It starts off pretty slow - so if you never made it past about level 10 or so, you definately would think it was a bit boring. But the game really picks up as it goes along.

There's even some pretty damn cool dungeon crawling to be had, which I wasn't expecting at all. Very, very addictive. It's got the "Diablo with guns" formula down pat with the endless search for moar/better lewt and bigger more badass gunZ!!

That's just the single player - get online with a couple of friends and it ramps up considerably - fucking insane!

All I can think is the haters just didn't give it enough time and/or simply don't like this type of game to begin with. (In which case - why the fuck would you play it in the first place?)

Yeah, it takes a while before you really get into anything interesting and generally speaking you need to find the right kind of equipment to enjoy the game properly also.

Anyway, while the game is alright overall, there's not nearly the kind of variation in weapons they said would be present - in reality, all the guns have one core "chassis" that the different barrels, magazines, scopes and so on are attached to.

This is rather irritatingly obvious in some cases, too - magazine-fed sniper rifles, for example, will have a visually obvious "plug" where the revolver chamber would be if the rifle had been generated as a revolver one. Shotguns also all have the same "chunky DooM 3 thing" look; double barrelled variants simply fire twice from the same barrel in rapid succession.

Essentially, it's like the AI cars' random appearances from NFS: Underground 2 / Most Wanted / Carbon / Etc; they're all different looking, sure, but they're all still the same car underneath.

Given all the shit they went on about you'd figure there'd be more variety than essentially being pallette swapped guns with either physical, acid, fire, explosive or shock damage.

The game is alright. There are some huge balancing issues with some classes.

What's the problem exactly? I'm just wondering.

Well, I've played Hunter and Siren fairly far, here's what I've seen.

Siren's special ability is useless except for running away and doing fetch quests fast. The only advantage Siren really has is that she gets pretty damn nice elemental boosts (I had something like +80%), which means if you have the right set of guns you can shred enemies. That said, you have to constantly be getting new sets of guns with all the elemental properties to do that. Since that item that gave large elemental boosts has party wide effects and supposedly stacks, it might be good in a large party.

Hunter rapes everything with Bloodwing ability. It can take entire groups down (minus the special badass enemies) or at the very least heavily damage them. I found an item that gave it +40% damage and +2 to a skill that gave it another +40% damage, and currently about 50% of my kills are from me looking in the general direction of the enemy and pressing F. Once bloodwing is fully upgraded, its like casting a super powerful chain lightning that can be modified with any elemental effect you want. The damage it does heals you, the enemies it kills drop more loot, it takes 13 or less seconds to recharge AND every time you shoot your sniper rifle the recharge is improved by 4 seconds. For bosses which aren't killed instantly, they get dazed so that they can't move (= sniper headshot food) and their accuracy plummets.

The actual imbalance is only made worse by the level scaling. While I know my hunter is far more powerful then my siren, I still have to grind the same weak easy enemies because no matter what I do, enemies 3-4 levels or higher then you = instant death or mind numbingly slow killing. Effectively the characters are exactly the same balance wise, because the only balance in this game comes through the level you are.

Merida, again
The torrent is about 50% done. going to give it a whirl and see if it works on WINE latter next week (updating all my machines to Karmic this weekend). If it's boring, which I'm 99.9% sure it is, I will just give it to my brother since he likes that kind of nextgen shit. Kids these days man.

Your bitching about absence of WINE compatibility is stale. Because you insist on using failbuntu. Grow a pair of balls and use a "macho man" distro(anything except "easy"). Please(really)

When will people realize that Korean MMOs on private servers, where you can indiscriminately murder twelve year old boys and watch them swear at you in all caps for 20 minutes, are 100x times more hilarious and enjoyable than this bullshit?

Ok so tell me. How much of it did you play? What character did you play and what level did you make?

I'd really like to know because I'm so fucking tired of morons wielding the hate stick on a game that they never actually played and/or only played for an hour or two (of a 30-50hr game), which especially seems to happen a lot here at the codex.

I ask this because I too was pretty unimpressed after the first few hours and would have said the same thing. However the game definately grows on you and really ramps up the further you get into it.

The beginning is quite boring. I think partly because the game treats you as if you have never played a game like this before. Most of us who have played MMO's will be bored the first hour of the game.

The interface did not change functionality from the console version. It plain sucks. Pressing enter to confirm selling gets old fast. There are many areas of the interface that will bug most of you.

The character equipment is limited. I think they did that on purpose though.

It's fun playing with other people. It's cool trying different strategies with people, as its a real-time FPS, tactics are possible. Though in reality, most of the time people don't talk or chat and just blast through areas. Because...

The death system is really forgiving. You don't lose anything, and just respawn at a checkpoint.

It's larger than I thought it would be. It's not one huge world, but it doesn't need to be. The hubs are large enough.

They did a decent job with the art assets. The locations are distinct enough to where you know where someone is when you watch them play. It's not just all the same wasteland.

There are lots of quests, and though basic, they are at least diverse.

Production values are good.

The game needs balance.

It is a console first game, but you can find tweaks online to make the game more PC-like.

It's the first console port, that I wasn't completely disgusted with.

Respawning is not too bad. We were stuck in an area for an hour and the enemies didn't respawn.

Overall, a dissappointment if you are expecting a full on PC action rpg with an awesome story.

Fun, if you are expecting a free play online FPS with semi-large play areas with lots of guns, and some light arpg elements to keep you going.

It's basically an FPS with leveling.

The game doesn't feel generic and unfinished like Hellgate: London.

I've had some fun with it so far. The game had enough style to make me like it at first glance, and enough of everything else to keep me entertained for a good few hours. Can't say anything about longevity though.

actually you lose 10% of your money.. which means the loss is always a decent hit on your finances. if it was just a set figure, youd not care once you started raking in the big cash. but yeh, its not like its the ed of the world when you die.

Had a bit of coop action going today. Bit of memory leakage, some connection time-outs (don't know if it's server sided) and balance seems slightly shafted with more people on board. Still fun though.

I didn't; I watched the trailers and a 30 minute demonstration of gameplay. The shooting action looks terminally boring and the only thing fun about it is dicking around with some friends.

List of other games that are fun to dick around with friends in:

- Left 4 Dead
- Quake
- Korean MMOs in private servers
- Alien Swarm
- Serious Sam
- Doom
etc.

I've seen nothing to show that this game is anything more than a boring shooter game. If its only appeal is coop beer-drinking then you have many other options, case closed.

How is the shooting action? Do enemy types ever become more varied? In the demonstration videos I have seen nothing but a lot of mobs that run straight at you and die in x number of shots. :?

So far I've seen bandits, midgets, dogs, mutant bats (or whathaveyou), bigger dogs, really big fucking dogs and weird slimy things. The shooting is fine.

EDIT: Oh, and there is a fair amount of flanking, psi attacks and other unconventional ai-behaviour involved. There are some pathfinding issues and general dumbfuckery too, but if you're less concerned with squeezing the game for experience and more about exploring and just fucking around you're in for a challenge in coop-mode. That is, it's a challenge to stay alive, but since it doesn't really matter if you die you might call it a self-imposed challenge.
