the rifle is clipping through the infantry model

How did the POW thing work in Act of War: you capture dudes and bring them back to base for money?
In AoA it works that you click capture button with your infantry and click an area where enemy pilots are and your infantry need few seconds per easy pilot and you gain some money and the pilot is transported into your POW camp (if you have one) or disappears.

Neat, thanks. The 'nonlethal weapons' thing in the Chimera trailer piqued my interest.

I was told there's a public beta in 2 days.
First one AoW-DA had a brutal RTS campaign, and even though AoW-HT expansion was a massive letdown, I figure this might be worth a shot.
I'll probably grab the retail dvd, unless it's tied to steamworks. In that case, I'll pass.

I doubt beta will give access to single player campaign. I am pretty sure it will be only MP access.

There will be loads of bugs in sp if it doesn't get enough testing.
The bugs in DA were something special, there's a map where you can cancel air control tower building and the enemy doesn't turn hostile.
Scripted sequence breaks without the tower, so you can just walk through the neutrals and destroy the headquarters with a single unit.
Some other maps you can clear before even starting the sequence and just skip the entire script. Mission completes either way.
Anyway, I don't expect the full campaign from the beta, I'm just saying I may pick this up on release because DA was solid.

Funny that they talk about returning to the 90s "Golden Age" of RTS when this is clearly based on Generals (2003) and Act of War (2005).

Because those games are based on 90s rts design.

And so are Dawn of War, Starcraft II, Supreme Commander. So I do not really get what's so unique that it warrants this slogan compared to other games.

I think they mean c&c games only. Dawn of war is not a new game and so is not supreme commander and both are not c&c like games.

I watched totalbiscuit impression video from beta version of the game (that is coming today at 19:00 France time) and some cool info to be found there. He is happy with what he seen so far.

Beta will have 2 factions first and 3rd faction (Cartel) is going to be added in about two weeks. Beta will also have AI to play vs.

They said at release in September they done a cool singleplayer campaign that will try to have different missions and news reports between missions to tell the story.

Played it! Difficult to get into it but now I managed to handle the US faction. Some dubious things in the game where I ask myself why the designers do not see that it's dumb. Big downside: buildings look the same and you cannot really tell what they do (gimme Hand of Nod) and so are many of the units which are basically the same just with a different weapon mounted on them!

Overall, good potential, but probably too French.

The buildings being samey is not a big problem as you will learn fast but units is because battles are fast and you only got 1 second to recognize enemy units and act accordingly.

No. This is a c&c generals like game and camera is much closer so you can identify units by sight or that would be the plan if they were as different as they were in c&c games.

Eugen just sent me a mail begging me to buy this shit. Tough luck, faggots. I bought your Wargame series and you decided to piss on it to make an uninspired c&c generals clone. I hope it crashes and burns to teach you a lesson about abandoning a successful niche and the fanbase that supported you

How's that abandoning when their matchmaking is still alive and well?

Dunno, I'm kinda liking the game. Single player campaign is "good for what it is" at best but since I was craving something like this I fine with AoA.
