So help me out here, what RPGs released in the last 10 years are under 25h in a normal first time playthrough? Yes I've beaten AoD and Commie Detective Simulator already.

For a community that wears it's semi-autistic hardcore gamer fetish proud on its sleeves this poll result is quite disappointing

Bunch of casuals posing as rpg enthusiasts?

(80-200h is the only acceptable answer)

this forum is full of casuals who only pretend to play rpgs therefore they prefer short rpgs so they can brag about how prestigious they are

ask them about how frequently they savescum sometime too, really gets them angry

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'd rather replay a short RPG with no filler 7 times than force my way through a 100 hour filler-filled borefest even once.

I still have PTSD from Dragon Age's massive amounts of copypasted filler encounters with no consequences whatsoever since you regenerate your health and mana after each fight, don't even have to savescum lol. Really felt drained at the end of that game.

A game should only be as long as the interesting parts of its content allow for. If there's filler to pad out the length, it's shit.

Even though it's hard to believe, a very few select codexers have jobs.

Even though I voted 20-40, I think it all depends on the amount of free time you have. If you are on vacation or leave then you can definitely play whatever the hell 100 hour RPG your heart desires. I always preferred the short but more cohesive RPG's that have a tight narrative - Fallout,Deus Ex,Temple of Elemental Evil. They do not require as much investment and time(a luxury you may not have depending on the point you are in your life). However, even the "longer" RPG's that do require investment(if you are a completionist) are something I also like - Arcanum,Baldur's Gate,Planescape(Storyfaggotry aside...).

10-20h. Aside from Fallout 1 i can't think of any RPG that didn't have some form of filler, didn't feel repetitive after a bit or didn't have some excessive fat that could be trimmed. Even New Vegas could be much shorter if the overworld was abstracted like in Fallout 1.

Of course that is for a single playthough.

25-35 hours is the ideal length.

Surprised 20-40 has the most votes.
When I made such a poll 10 years ago, 50+ was the most popular.

Less than 80 hours is too short. I still play these games but I never buy them at full price.

But then, more than 100 hours is usually too much, unless the game still has fun shit to do after all that time (which is extremely rare).

40-60 hours is the ideal for me. A little more or less depending on the game.

You know, I was sitting here thinking I'd be minority vote for 20-40hrs. Glad to see this is a popular stance.

I WANT to love Owlcat games, but Jesus Christ Rogue Trader could've left 20 hours on the cutting room floor EASILY.
