So I discovered that Fixt removes that exploit where you take drugs to meet perk requirements, which means no Bonus Rate of Fire for me.
On the bright side, I finally got my hands on a minigun and holy shit it slaps in Fallout 1. Complete upgrade to the flamethrower. It even has 35 range, which is pretty OP.
In tactics it was pretty mediocre but in FO1 it's a good weapon. I'll tag energy weapons next so I can use the glock 86 as a backup weapon and try out the gatling laser.
I never use the Gatling Laser much, but it's a really cool weapon.
Has that really nice firing sound, not to mention it's a CHAINGUN THAT FIRES LASERS!
Though the Turbo Plasma Rifle is still King in Fallout.

Yeah, fast shot is pretty good with TPR too.
Fast shot + BRoF means 2AP plasma shots. You don't need aimed shots if you're shooting 5 times a turn dealing on average 50+ damage at a time. That's not even factoring in crits.

Argh, almost two hours in Clock Clock Wood, could not find the last two notes and last jigsaw. That the cartridge does not save locations of notes found so that you can get the remaining ones next time is annoying. So, with only the end game left, my completion for Banjo Kazooie this time is...

Gruntilda's Lair: 10/10 jigsaw pieces
Mumbo's Mountain: 100/100 notes, 10/10 jigsaw pieces, 2/2 honeycombs
Treasure Trove Cove: 100/100 notes, 10/10 jigsaw pieces, 0/2 honeycombs
Clanker's Cavern: 100/100 notes, 10/10 jigsaw pieces, 2/2 honeycombs
Bubblegloop Swamp: 100/100 notes, 10/10 jigsaw pieces, 1/2 honeycombs
Freezeezy Peak: 100/100 notes, 10/10 jigsaw pieces, 2/2 honeycombs
Gobi's Valley: 100/100 notes, 8/10 jigsaw pieces, 1/2 honeycombs
Mad Monster Mansion: : 87/100 notes, 9/10 jigsaw pieces, 2/2 honeycombs
Rusty Bucket Bay: 89/100, 9/10 jigsaw pieces, 1/2 honeycombs
Click Clock Wood: 98/100, 9/10 jigsaw pieces, 1/2 honeycombs

Check the analog movement from almost any game that generation (Banjo Kazooie included) and you will find a full range. Check the analog movement from almost any game now (except Nintendo's) and you will only find two speeds. Certainly because they spend so much money on motion-captured animations now.

In between revisiting Path of Achra(just left early access btw) i have just completed the original Halo: Combat Evolved using Xemu emulator with a gamepad.
xemuSb9sfLu1rP.png

Level design is indeed not very good with the Library and it's neverending copypasted corridors and constant hordes of Flood teleporting out of nowhere being the worst offender.
PewPew-ing aliens on the other hand feels great. I love how expressive the Covenant is with Grunts getting batshit scared if you're killing their squadmates or Elites getting angry when you destroy their shields or laughing if they manage to get Master Chief. Also noticed that their AI is smart enough to know how to use any avaliable cover, to flank you or throw a plasma grenade if you're trying to camp them behind a door. Fighting them is a joy.
It's also one of those games where i actually didn't mind having AI companions. With the exception of that mission where you need to protect admiral "i love standing in front of Needlers" Keyes i never felt that marines were a hindrance or anything. Quite the opposite, they were quite helpful in those missions where you're fighting together and i usually tried to keep them alive if i could. I also like how they're doing a little "Hooray!" each time you're jumping on a warthog.

Is it a great game? - Yep, i think it is.
Would i have bought the original XBox in the early 2000s if i could just so i could play Halo? - No, i doubt it.
How are you liking Path of Achra? The game looks like a very simple ToME with no questing or anything just crafting and coming up with builds.

"The Gatekeeper's evil face is splattered all over the place. As its tattered corpse collapses, an inverted gate forms and sucks down the shards of the last prototype accelerator, not to mention the few remaining demons.
You're done. Hell has gone back to pounding bad dead folks instead of good live ones. Remember to tell your grandkids to put a rocket launcher in your coffin. If you go to Hell when you die, you'll need it for some final cleaning-up..."

And with that Plutonia is done.

Yeah, I nuked the two guards at the Cathedral Vault gate with it. Just deleted them. What's really funny is that the RL has such huge knockback that if it doesn't kill the target they have to waste AP walking to where they got hit. Then you hit them again.

The only real problem with my build is that I can't pick up that much loot because I have so much ammo and big guns weapons are so heavy.
I had to leave behind a gatling laser :/
Maybe I'll use enough ammo to be able to pick it up on the way out. I still have to do Mariposa afterwards.

Seems like Fixt broke something. Test some more to deterine whichever it's DT or DR. When you play vanilla agaisnt gatling in PA it's usually either no damage or crit.

Might be DR. When I took Psycho it went down to more manageable levels. Miniguns still deal no damage, it's just the gatling laser that seems to be dealing quite a bit of damage.
Still managed to kill the master in the end though. I think I used about 8 EMP grenades on him and then shot him with the gatling laser a couple of times.

Edit : Found the Change log. Even though it gives vanilla values in the UI, the changelog said that the Laser DT and DR has been reduced to 14 and 60% respectively. Well that's annoying.

can someone explain why a gatling laser is dealing 40 points of damage to me at a time when I have hardened power armour? With 19 DT and 90% it shouldn't be dealing that much damage.
Indeed.
I also wondered why the hell does it do so much damage?
Another dumb change that no one asked for...
Those modders, huh?

Other thing that Fixt changes that's incredibly annoying; Paladins will follow you into mariposa, but due to the area's layout will stop you from leaving elevators. I had to kill them to get free.
Anyway, still trying how to get GOG galaxy to work with Viva New Vegas so I can track playtime and achievements. Using the Bat and exe trick didn't work, I might have to just dump everything in NV's data folder at this rate.

I like the infiltration option more.

I tried the Portal: Revolution mod, then quit halfway through because I got bored. It's not a bad mod at all. High effort. New voice acting. Detailed maps. It looks as good as Portal 2 can look. But the puzzles are so lame. Even when "new" tricks are introduced (things you don't have to do in the original game), they never go beyond tutorial level, at least not in the first half. The test chambers are often way larger and more complex looking than necessary. They do look really nice, though, which seems to have been the priority here. Much of the time is also spent with a broken Portal gun that can only shoot one portal (the other is then placed by the map). And too much walking for my taste.
I might be in the minority here because I've played plenty of maps form the workshop and have seen all of the major tricks you can pull off with the vanilla mechanics. So I don't get the wow factor here. For those who haven't touched Portal 2 since 2011, this might still be a good mod to try.

Still left with the Portal itch, I decided to revisit Portal Stories: Mel instead. My first playthrough was 9 years ago, and I didn't remember any of the puzzles, only that I liked them. The test chambers really are the opposite of those in Revolution: Compact, only as large as they needed to be to convey the puzzle, and they really make you think. Do you also like standing in one spot for 10 minutes, wondering how tf this is supposed to work? I really enjoyed this one, again, even though progression between the test chambers isn't always as smooth.
Play Revolution if you want to get back into Portal 2. Then play Mel (with the original maps) if you want a challenge. They're both free, after all.

Playing Alpha Protocol for the first time. Fun popamole RPG, but games with shit combat should not be allowed to have boss fights. Also the final act devolving into a total TPS sucks.

Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I haven't been playing many video games lately, getting bored quite quickly and not finding many to my taste.
Then Dread Delusion came out of early access, I decided to give it a try, ready to refund if it was as gimmicky as I expected. First hour was meh. Then I played ten hours in two days, mesmerized and enjoying every second of it.

If you are any serious explorefag, do yourself a favor and try this gem. I think I'm around the half of the game but even if it must suck from now I'll cherish the time spent striding this wonderful land where every step brings you new views to behold, more marvels to climb, more dungeons to roam and more PNJs to meet. Top class world design, visuals and lore. Well worth its price and more solid than it looks, although it will not cater to everybody (in particular combatfags, sorry).

Going for another Fallout New Vegas: TTW run to overcome the wait for SMTVV. Now that I have a powerhouse of a PC, I can actually run my modded ENB setup at 4k @ 100fps thanks to heavy AMD X3D engine optimisations from a mod. It's crazy how well this game runs now, even with Open Strip, and Open Freeside.

Current character is going to be a Science build who might delve into creating RobCo roboters from the "RobCo Certified" mod.

Starting in F3 is always a big obstacle in my build, since the economy is harsh, random Adventurers and Slavers who are travelling all across the map might attack you, and NPCs in general can actually spot you from far away (thanks to this incredible mod). Drug addictions and limbs can not be healed at the doctor and have to be manually cured with items or resting a lot. Loot has been adjusted so that most containers will be empty because, duh, you're not the only one scavenging. There is a slight chance that if you're low health, you fall in agony, and NPC's will uh ... "rob" your character, which almost results in an inventory reset unless you manage to somehow kill your robber again.

Overall, a real pain in the ass, but a great survival game!

Got Viva New Vegas working, so I'm doing a New Vegas run after a long break from it. This time as a melee character, as I don't think I actually played as one.
After a bit, I remember why. Melee isn't really good, especially early game. It's only really good if you use sneak so you can close the distance, but I don't want to be sneaky git, I want to be an idiot knight in heavy armour and big arse sword.
And even then you're better off using sneak to get a sniper rifle shot off.

The melee perks in New Vegas are pretty stupid too. Slayer, despite buffing melee, needs only unarmed to get, for example.

spec into survival to make rushing water and slasher
along with psycho it's 50% extra attack speed and 50% extra damage
those two things are why i almost never make a build where i don't spec into survival a little

Yeah, I'm going explosives, survival, melee.
Explosives, oddly enough, are a prerequisitite for that perk that affects all throwing weapons, include melee ones. Melee NPCs tends to use grenades anyway, so I might as well follow suit.

Funnily enough, I was going to make a Senator Armstrong build and take speech, unarmed and survival (to unlock some of the regen perks) as tags, but then I realized that I never actually used melee weapons before, so I made a big dumb brute character instead.
I named him Mongo. He is only pawn in game of life.

The last time I played Banjo Kazooie was maybe twelve years ago. At the time, I did not have enough puzzle pieces to open the final door after the trivia/time attack board game and gave up. This time, I opened the final door with one jigsaw to spare. So, because I have not actually played the final boss since I was a young boy, I forgot about the Jinjo statue that can't be fed with the blue eggs after you die or Game Over (or whatever causes the glitch). Will of course do it again, at another time, but pretty disappointing after excitement. Like the change in those faces in the corner, almost.
