Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
My whole squad was brutally ambushed in Jagged Alliance 2, and I'm not reloading because I did something dumb, so I'm gonna play something else before restarting the game.

I'm playing go online.
Solid turn-based strategy game, would recommend. Also hard as hell.
Underrail but something give me strength to finish it as Black Sea sucked all the joy from it.
Same, I was having a great time and playing the expansion killed it. The sense of mystery couldn't save the fights that were all too long or too hard for their own sake.
You should post this in the Underrail thread.

Wanted to play Streets of Rage 2 at work. Could not find any good ad-free Mega Drive emulators. Gave in and installed RetroArch. Not so complicated this time. Was able to set it all up in about fifteen minutes. It even recognized the 8BitDo M30 and correctly assigned the buttons. Between breaks, I only got to the elevator in the stadium level. But got me pumped through work. As the shitty music that we've heard over and over played over the loudspeakers, I tried to hang on to the stadium level music in my head and kept thinking of my character kicking and punching people in the face. Slowly, the excitement dissipated. Imagining myself fighting my coworkers and people in leadership, men and women, from one side of the warehouse to the other, helped for a little while. I think I'm just gonna keep playing the game over and over at work, even if I never beat it. Wanna get good. I didn't accidentally press AB and BC simultaneously this time. Strange. Or maybe I did without stars. Bigger screen would be nice. Some kind of small laptop I could also use at home.

i was wasting time on bg3 and, yeah, it was indeed a waste of time, because i gave up after sinking around 10h into the game. it was my third attempt at "the greatest crpg of all time" and most likely the last one. mechanically bg3 is very good, obviously except minor problems like combat being a massive slog, but i just didnt feel the campaign itself. i was unable to immerse myself in the game and i played carelessly. when i reached one of the trademark larians porn scenes, where my gnome was receiving a sloppy toppy from a dommy mommy drow, I just bursted out laughing at the absurdity of acts shown on my screen. ironically, the mood was ruined. good thing i pirated bg3. not my goty.

immediately after dropping bg3 i decided to waste some time on something that somehow slipped under my radar for all these years. ive heard about this series a couple of times, but ive never really given it any attention until now. after seeing some reviews of Myth i got curious, and decided to check it out for myself. im currently playing TFL on myth II and im having a blast. unironically ive never had so much fun micro-managing. feels good.

I will restart my Return To Castle Wolfenstein run because it has been way too long since I last played it.
Great, solid shooter, real oldschool, with secrets, bosses, etc.
Great soundtrack as well, and those crypts/catacombs missions...
And hot Nazi bitches in tight Black Leather...
Oh, and fuck that Forest Stealth mission.

Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Spent a couple of hours on West of Loathing, the B&W stick-figures Western game. It's nice. Gameplay if good and not too challenging since you can retry any fight, but you can lock yourself out of some quests so you need to do some choices. Fights are reasonably challenging, humour is reasonably funny, art is simple but very serviceable. There is no real weakness, it's fun, but not very engrossing. I enjoy it but not look forward to the next session.

Completed Spark the Electric Jester, first game.
I don't think it's on the same level as the third entry which i also completed but still, a pretty solid sonic-inspired 2D platformer with some standout levels like Mare Desert or Megaraph Fleet. Do take my opinion with a grain of salt as i don't have any experience with sonic fangames whatsoever and my last memories of playing actual sonic games was the classic remakes/sonic battles on Gameboy Advance and Sonic rivals on PSP.
Currently not in the mood for 2D platformers for now, the keyword is 2D.
Edit: Just tried Spark 2.
SparkTwo45pPjlxXLO.jpg

It feels like the developer was still figuring out how to make his game work in 3D, main character movement is a often too jerky. So far it's kinda inferior to Spark 3 in pretty much every way, safe for the plot and music.
Not sure if i should continue considering the fact that the developer ported every level from this game into the third one as part of a free DLC.

Hadn't even heard of these games.

Reviews of the first and third - plus the soundtrack pieces you posted in the VGM channel, has me interested in giving it a shot. Thanks for sharing!

The greatest time-waster I play is Stellaris. Several 1000s of hours.

It is a very solid and enjoyable exploration phase at first, but always end up in a micromanagement hell that makes it a chore to keep going as you expand.

30 hours in to Divinity: Original Sin Classic, and I've made my way to Luculla Forest.

There are things I don't like about the game - especially the Diabloesque loot system - but on the whole I think DOS is a pretty fun game.

The dialogue is corny as fuck, but I don't think it annoys me as much as it does some people. Combat's very entertaining and the high point of the experience despite feeling very game-y.

Ultima 7 style world interactivity is a neat idea, but, honestly, I haven't really found any use for it, yet. For example, stacking up crates into a big wall doesn't seem to prevent NPCs from being able to see me steal shit.

It only gets worse in D:OS II.

Last year I had a great time with Beholgar - hard, 16bit metroidvania. Now I felt some urge to play another, similar game and decided to go with The Messenger.

Oh my... that game is... wow! It's very creative and made with love. I'm not going to spoil it for you if you have never played it - just try this game and have fun!

It turned out The Messenger is a part of a bit bigger universe with a JRPG Sea of Stars. I decided to go with that one too (my kids have an Xbox game pass and it's free there so...). I am not a great jRPG fan (I finished 3 jRPGs in my life) but I have fun with this - it's not deep with mechanics, but world-building and writing turns it into a very enjoyable gem. Worth a time.

For a strategy game, I decided to Knights of Honor 2 and... well... it's like EU4 for lazy people. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to paint a map for a while it's just... it's not a historical simulator and the whole gameplay (except for battles) is waiting for mana pool (I mean resources) to generate to invest them into something and repeat. After a while build some decent army and conquer something. Wait, build, fight. A restricted amount of council members gives you some decisions to make, but it's generally an 'optimize your mana growth' type of game.

OTOH if AI and battles were done a bit better it would be a gem.

Why the classic version and not the enhanced edition?
played EE version a few years ago up to Phantom Forest, didn't complete.

wanted to try classic partly for a different experience, partly 'cause I found the full VA annoying, and partly for reasons mentioned by Roxor and Abu.
