Mechwarrior 5. Had an amazing mission yesterday. Demolition on a forest map. Endless waves of enemy mechs and tanks. My whole lance got smoked during the mission. I managed to finish off the last building objective and made it back to evac in my crippled Centurion with artillery and laser blasts falling all around me. Barely made it back but mission was accomplished.

Then I shit myself when I realized that the job paid 1.5 million but my total repair bill was over 2 mill. That's Mechwarrior for ya.

I completed KOTOR 1 after 45 hours, it was a much shorter game than I was hoping for but it was great fun. It gets a solid 70/100 on the globally followed " BruceVC game rating system"

I enjoyed the SW lore and the game provided classic Bioware fun around how you can do quests in your own order and I appreciated the companion interaction. I ended up Romancing the hottie Bastila and I saved her from the dark side

Most combat became easy from level 14 or so with some exceptions but the battles on the Star Forge were challenging and I only succeeded by using my Jedi Powers strategically. I had Canderous and Jolee in my party for the final stage

And I had to adopt a " cowardy " approach for the final battle with Malak, I used my Jedi speed to run away from him and destroyed the Jedi healing pods. Then I used Throw Lightsaber to wound him from a distance and killed him in normal lightsaber combat when he was on his last health

But Im enjoying the SW universe so I have decided to play KOTOR 2 next :salute:

Bruhs, I really tried to get into old games that I played in childhood (escapism, because my childhood was not happy and lonely so I played video games all the time).
Now I browse hundreds of games on steam/gog and even if I like some game I drop it after 15 minutes. I can't get into old games, new games, indie, etc.
I feel like life hit hard and now "life" is that game I'd rather play and character skills and attributes are now not of those in game, but mine as human. So now I prefer watching some webinar or read books about psychology - and really psychology is really an RPG game where there are different magic schools. I don't know if anyone feels something similar, but now life is about being happy and joyful - to enjoy looking at trees, drinking tea and talking to people.
I fucking try to get into games and I think it's time to let go. :( Games were really great and they served purpose in a huge part of my life. But it's time to let go I guess :(
tl;dr
im not wasting my time on games instead im wasting it by watching psychology webinars (to give you an example like: how my parents affected my adult life and how can I change it; what am i thinking about myself, do I accept myself, what makes me happy, etc)
This is not an uncommon view or stage that many gamers go through where you get bored of all games for some reason. And there is nothing wrong with that, gaming is a hobby and hobbies change

Its fine, if you find other things more fulfilling then you must pursue them. Maybe you get back into gaming later?

I'm pleasantly surprised with Chrono Cross using LandonRay's difficulty mod(I tried Vanilla first, but it's trivially easy). I haven't died yet, but I had characters get KO and had to run away once. Given my experience with his other mods, I expect some difficulty spikes later on. The Element system is not as intricate as Materia in FFVII or Junctioning in FFVIII, but still requires a bit of planning. The music and presentation is wonderful, of course, it's that golden period of Squaresoft.

Nearly 100 hours in the Backpack Battles demo. Perfect for having on your second monitor while working. An "auto-battler", turn based, not same time multiplayer (the people you fight against may have submitted their boards hours ago).
Revisiting Mount&Blade Bannerlord too, right now vanilla, probably will try how the real historical mods are. But mods are SO FUCKING HUGE, I guess its all the visual assets for armors and such.
Civilization VI had some event, where they give you a specific start as Greece to win a cultural victory on. Did that, and played another 1-2 games. I burn out fast on Civ these days, I am too familiar with the mechanics and can tell if a game is won or lost less than halfway through, so completing them feels like doing homework. The last installments did try to introduce new mechanics to replace exploring and colonizing in the later game, but it still feels like there's just more game at first, and once all the good land is explored and settled, there's objectively less to do. That whole genre has to solve this issue before it can go further mainstream.
Whisper Mountain is a zombie shooter, like an Xbox twinstick shooter where you look at your guy in third person from above. The game is visually 2D, but gameplay is 3D, and there's keys to move the camera POV to look from the other side. It has a small inventory, where you need to fit your keycards, ammo, puzzle items, healing items. It has multiplayer too, and the level shown has reason to play MP, its useful in more sense than just another gun. There's a free demo on steam, it has multiplayer, small game, no reason not to try it.
Played a few maps of Counter Strike 2 as its now called. Games are still decided by 1 player on each team who is just objectively much better than everyone else. Everyone is still getting mad in voice chat. Still every time you die some retard starts a vote to kick you from the game, even if you 1v5 the other team and kill 4 of them before dying. Still Europe region is dominated by "russians" (as in, the kind of retards east of Berlin that we like to pretend are all russians, so we can wash our hands of their taint). Still every arrogant kid just tries to get the big one shot sniper rifle, regardless if the game calls for it or if he's any good at it. It may be called Counter Strike 2, but its the same game, and the improved responsiveness and look that came from the engine change doesn't make it more fun to play.

I mainly play Quake Brutalist Jam 2 (however I would never call playing Quake as wasting time!), but recently I picked up Braid. I'm having a great time solving puzzles in this little gem. I made a point to not look up anything about the game and fully discover it myself instead.

I find it at times frustrating when seemingly there is no way of getting there or picking up that item, but suddenly the next day a solution comes to me naturally by itself. It's pretty illuminating to be honest.

if you're gonna quit gaming, replace it with something that's not equally cringe
In which way does trying to learn something about psychology, about my thought processes and reworking my trauma is cringe?
It's mad gay, because it's happy :3

If someone considers processing their trauma to be gay, well... that says a lot about them.

What usually passes for "Psychology" nowadays is pretty mad gay. In fact, mad gay is the very essence of a lot of it.

Not necessarily, there are real benefits to psychology and understanding the aspects of psychology like depression

But there are also examples of abuse like blaming all social dysfunction on " trauma " and saying the " person cant help themselves "

Its important to separate things and recognize that humans can get depressed or be influenced by realities in society. And understanding psychology is part of that

Sled Storm for the PS1 is such a cool racing game, I had mostly forgotten about it. Very open tracks, lots of little height variation so that your jumps are never the same, competitive AI, and a championship mode where you have to prioritize which part of your snowmobile to develop first. The soundtrack is pretty cool, although it seems like every game from 1999 needed to have a Rob Zombie track. Oh yeah, snowmobiles!

I found the same as I got older. I started feeling guilty - like what the fuck am I doing with my time on Earth? Especially when playing RPGs, which I love, but which take dozens and dozens of hours. So, like you, I put more energy into skill learning now. I've been studying a few instruments and I've gone back to school to continue my education and advance my career. Though, since my dog died back in April I've started playing games more again. In fact, a week after she died I bought a brand new desktop setup and an expensive new guitar to cope. Speaking of being happy and joyful - enjoying the trees, drinking tea, and talking to people - my taste in music has changed. A lot of the heavy metal I listened to when I was younger just doesn't speak to me as an adult.

In the mood for some build porn and hack'n'slash again. Returned to Chronicon.
Chronicon6L0ERMJWSR.jpg
ChroniconfK022paCgq.png

The character building is pretty good in this one and i like itemisation a lot.
My favourite characters were probably:
-The mech-priest Mechanist utilising the mechalord set to remove the cooldown of her killbot summon which also allows the M3D1C summon to buff the everliving shit out of him.
-A frost focused Warlock who found a special helmet that lets you shoot extra ice spears for each ice "satelite" you have currently equiped.
-Fire mage Templar who shoots a lot of fire and burns the ground she stands on
-Lightning Berserker who is simply good at charging into the crowds at very high speed
-Every Warden spec pretty much, wind mage and winter herald especially
But unfortunately i exhausted all the fun that i could from this game. Currently craving something that i didn't already play or at least not as much.

Currently Halo 3 and Knights of the Old Republic II. Currently I just wrapped the Iziz and Duxn quests. Occasionally switch on Grand Order for dailies, I've not been making much progress in the SERAPH campaign. If I beat that I'll be on to the Epic of Remnant arc.

After I beat KOTOR II I might play/read Fate/Stay Night for the first time as well... I'm curious about it. Start with the first route and make my way through to the end episode.

Been playing around with 86box and got a system going decent enough to play games that requires 233Mhz. Ripped my old copy of Spec Ops which I hadn't played since maybe 1998. I remember absolutely sucking at the game back then and unable to beat the first level. Until today. Beat the first 3 levels and it felt pretty good.
