There is no agenda, I simply forgot that you did a review for Risen 2.

Also, my post is not a recommendation for playing Risen 2 - just a small 'heads up' on what he may expect.

Atomic Heart:
I enjoyed the first part of the game. It is an inferior version of bioshock. The open world is complete waste of time and the enemies become repetitive in the later half of the game.
The boss fights are less interesting to boring bulletfest.
Only positives is the mediocre story which has been previously replicated across games in the past.
Puzzles become too samey in the latter part of the game.
The game is mediocre (which is high praise for a game with these production values nowadays) and I can see where you're coming from, but it's way better than Bioshock.

Bioshock would be better if it replaced the Big Daddies with Big Mommies to compete with the murderous ballerina robots.

Nope i do not consider it better than BioShock. The first part of the game maybe surely not the latter half. It tries to replicate many things from various games but it feels half baked.

I took a break from Cocoon as it got a little repetitive.

Currently playing Alwa's Awakening 8-bit edition, running under the Mesen core in Retroarch.

What a delightful little game. It's a port of a PC game from 2017 to actual NES logic. It's got more stuff than the original, and I prefer playing the NES version because I can use shaders. Looks way better this way. If you're a fag who's into achievements you can even get them through Retroachievements.

Great music. Overall just a feel good game.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Elden Ring is beaten. Took me 120ish hours for my second run, melee, light load, no summons. I'm so shit at the game that I had to level up to 200 to do everything. My least favorite From Souls game, due to the open world. The unique dungeons were a lot of fun, and the best content of the game.

I've been mentioning Like A Dragon: Ishin! a lot, but I am no close to the point of no return. I'm cleaning up all content that somehow adds more story bits, combat, or dialog, like sub stories, arena, dungeons, and bonds. I hope to wrap this one up this week.

On my quest to beat all my NDS/3DS backlogged games, I started Luminous Arc. Not great, not shit. Fairly mediocre, but not unplayable. The story, I already see what is coming. I would be surprised if I am wrong. It's a typical Japanese tactical rpg, but the characters are set in stone. This also mean no job changes. I just looked up the amount of chapters, nothing else, and I'm on chapter 8 of 25.

Demon Lord Reincarnation. I reached the fourth floor, but got wiped pretty quickly, so time to train up a new party, and see how that goes.

Currently juggling a few at the same will see what sticks and what i drop

Commandos 2 - challenging but really detailed and gives you a lot of freedom when approaching challenges but also gives you a lot of tools. Really makes levels highly replayable.
Anno 1602 - Love the visuals and music plus its simple yet engaging in gameplay.
Anno 1701 - Like 1602+ , having fun plus the game looks amazing in Stereo3D
Caesar 3 - I suck at it but for some reason keep playing. Helps that it also runs on android with save game compatibility.
X-Tension - just loitering around with no real goal
Quake 2 Enhanced - never played quake 2 seriously before so aiming to finish this.
Imperium Romanum - Nice city builder that also looks superb in 3D. Enjoying the campaign missions with the way tasks work.
AoW4 and Planetfall - Havent spent too much time but having fun with both.
Fallout 3 - About to start, last time finished the game was over a decade ago, felt like visting the wasteland again.

Playing IWD1 again after many years. Switched to HoW now that the main campaign is about to end. It's a much darker game than I remember it to be. Had the hardest time with Yxunemei. Visuals are amazing. An abundance of loot and spells, I spent half the game just managing my inventory. As usual, I go through the gamebanshee guide after finishing each area to see what I've missed.

Are there a lot of secrets or optional areas in IWD? From what i remember its pretty linear and straightforward.

It seems like my gaming holiday so to say is over. First it was BG3 (has it ups and downs but mostly ups I'd say), went through it almost twice, then Starfield (by God, that game fucking sucks), then CP2077 DLC (was alright for what it is but woke tropes really started to annoy). Somewhere in between I tried Jagged Alliance 3 and that was quite a dissapointment, dropped quite early on (mostly thanks to one specific core mechanic but that wasn't the only underwhelming thing).

Really looking up to Colony Ship but feel like don't have it in me right now in terms of autism. Need time to restore that shit before properly sinking in. Because I know that I will play solo and that will require at least some restarts, since most of my EA experience is irrelevant by now.

Oh and the new sudden UnderRail DLC do not raises me either, not feeling like returning to the game. Just yet, at least.

I can't think of any optional areas, but I don't miss them really. The main campaign with all the dungeons is pretty intense and it wears you down. After 45 hours or so I'm looking forward to just finishing the game. It took me twice as long for BG1 with all the side quests, but I didn't tire as easily.
IWD also has some interesting additional dialog options, for-bards-only and such. When I get to BG2 I might just play as bard, if nothing else I'll get a different stronghold to manage.

IIRC you get the little theater where you meet Haerdalis' friends.

There's missable items and weapons, looking through every room really pays off. Especially for the Holy Avenger.

Last time i played I played IWD I played vanilla without installing HoW, and used Lilura's blog to check what I missed. I learnt that most of the good loot is semi-random, like a weapon be can one of three different ones. This semi-randomness adds to the replayability of the game. Replayability would have been even better if the weapons from shops were not so good.

Not really but there's a lot of quest XP from specific dialog options, specific ways of approaching encounters, or quests that aren't obvious. For example you can save the slaves in Yxunomei's dungeon if you stealth and kill the guard (I think that's how you do it).

IWD is possibly only place where with point buy low INT is a positive. High INT would make character thinking why is he in freezing wasteland when he's not a blue dragon.

Finished Cocoon. I really liked it. Some puzzles are quite brilliant in the game's simple framework, you get those 'a-ha!' moments that are very satisfying. Overall a bit on the easy side for me but still very worth it. It's short too, which I consider a big plus (took me about 6 hours of playtime to finish, playing very leisurely maybe half an hour each day).

The game has no text, no speech, no handholding at all. You're supposed to figure things out on your own and there are no overt nudges. The only facilitating aspect is that there is no backtracking - previous pathways close up automatically once you reach certain critical points.

It's also pretty atmospheric with a great soundtrack. Definitely recommended.

Im about 40 hours into Dying Light 2 and Im loving it, its improved on all the mechanics of DY1 and has provided exactly what I was looking for which is a easy to understand " zombie killing game " with simple and appreciated respawning features when you die so you dont get frustrated when you die

I am running the game on maximum graphic settings and I have enabled Ray Tracing so the game is very aesthetically pleasing, its beautiful

It has lots of fun activities and side quests and I am focusing on those until I get bored and then I will focus on the main quests similar to games like Far Cry and Assassins Quest

It has a fun and progressive crafting system and I like how the economy works. And the level and skills advancement makes sense Also because its an East European game there is very little wokeness so you see normal, attractive female NPCS which I always appreciate

The only real issue I have is a minor one and thats the jumping mechanics can be little frustrating in certain parts of the map. Some places it has taken me 15-20 minutes just to climb a certain building or windmill. But Im getting better at that

But excellent game if you looking for a quintessential Zombie "hack and slash "

Log 5:
Nothing out of the ordinary as far as gaming goes this week. Did some DotA grind and continued with wrapping up vanilla Pillars. It looks like the time has come for me to shift my focus. The vidiya grind will be getting slower.

The International - that one big Dota 2 tournament - has started its group stages and everybody in the DotA world is watching it. I don't really feel like playing DotA the past two/three weeks so I guess that's how I'm going to be getting my fix. Playing DotA has turned into something that's part of my routine instead of something that I do exclusively to have fun.

On the other hand clearing The Endless Paths of Od Nua, appeasing all of the gods, and preparing myself for the final fight in PoE has been a blast. The Sky Dragon in Hylea's temple was my hardest encounter yet. I was really surprised by what was happening. With some difficulty I was able to clear all of the elemental blights but when my party was left with the dragon they weren't able to hit her at all. On top of that I had a few tries where the giant lizard almost died so I was really confused with what the issue was.

Turns out it was just some fear debuff that was messing with my party. The usual spell I use to remove debuffs wasn't cutting it here so I just had to substitute it. After realizing that the fight became much simpler. Still it was verry annoying not being able to land a hit. I tried lots of other things before finding the missing piece of the puzzle.

According to my oldest saves I started this game 10 months ago but having not finished it until now. This by far is the most divisive game I have ever played. At times I would find myself playing it for hours on end, getting absolutely sucked into the world, but then I sometimes would put it down for weeks. The world building and quality of writing immediately hooked me in and if the game featured better combat then I surely would have finished Geneforge months ago.

I cannot even rate it because of how mixed my feelings are.

Haven't played any games recently, but I do want to finish my Barbarian run in Arcanum. Got ready to sail to Thanatos and find Nasrudin. The in-game sprite for the Barbarian Armor looks really cool. Also people will make funny comments about you wearing it.
Also want to replay original Deus Ex. It's been a while...

Three games done.

Demon Lord Reincarnation. That was a fun twist that one probably won't see coming. Pretty brutal, yet streamlined dungeon crawler. Very old school in its design, and punish you in basically every encounter. I'd be interested in a more expanded sequel. If it's just the same, I think that I'll skip it. I'd love equipment, and less roguelike-style.

Luminous Arc for the Nintendo DS. Pretty run-of-the-mill Japanese tactical rpg. Does its job, but not a game I would compare with the best games in the genre. Voice acting was abysmal. I wanted to pierce my own ears with a spear. Cgaracter design was so-so, and everything else was serviceable.

Like A Dragon: Ishin! A very fun game, but the side stories were a mixed bag. Mostly fun. I'd put the game in the middle of the series in terms of quality. Seeing characters from the series reimagined as others was quite funny, but they do keep their characteristics. Despite not wanting them to do Unreal Engine again, I still think the game overall was solid, but I miss the Dragon Engine. There's a lot of side stuff to do. Most of if it was fun, some of it was busywork, and a few, I didn't even bother with.

I have the rest of the year to beat two more games for my 52 beaten games/per year goal.

Do you find yourself playing any differently than if you didn't set the 52 beaten games in a year?
