This is inxile in full console mode... If these fucks had started designing torment now, it would be exactly the same, talking heads everywhere.

I don't have issue with talking heads. I thought they will do both at same time aka small and big in one thing which would be expensive but they seem to literally go into Fallout1/2 way of talking heads where they render only those dudes animations and almost nothing else (notice that everything else aside from dude is blurry maybe not even 3d just probably 2D image.

Oversized UI for TV is problem here.

I thought it was obvious that the dialogue window was a mock-up, something work in progress. But the Codex obviously went into FUUUUCK CONSOLES RUIN OUR DIALOGUE WINDOW mode.

Exactly, people are too quick to give their reaction to something touted as a "gameplay" video, best not to complain and assume it will turn out to be awesome

The only thing which really bothers me about the dialogue window in this video is that it contains only 5 dialogue options. Hopefully, there won't be such a limit in the real game.

The "cinematic" dialogue looks incredible. That character looks more real animation-wise than anything I've ever seen in a videogame.

It begs the question, though: what will be sacrificed for this?

It will be for nothing if the portraits again look like this:

WL2_Rose.png

And the in-game model is a character with a blonde afro.

Not to mention the obvious: the more effort you have to put in how the character is animated, the less dialogue choices you will get as a consequence since you would have to animate ALL the different responses.

In short: this system makes sense if it is for carefully selected NPCs and not thrown left and right. The way Fallout did it.

Eh. Make 25 different talking animations, mix & match to suit appropriate response. They're not going to hand-animate each individual word spoken in the game. I hope.

There are AAA devs who don't have the budget to do that, so no, they probably won't.

So according to the investment page one could get a 40 percent roi on 1k minimum investment units, assuming a certain rec. retail price and wl2 sales numbers. If release is 2019 and the 1.36 return point is reached quickly, thats decent.

If the full volume of investments is reached, and if Fig does not contribute any extra funds on its own (which it usually does), then the 1.36 level would be reached after WL3 has made $9.87 mil in revenue (I say after, because you also have to factor in other expenses). Wasteland 2 has made "12+ million dollars" in revenue over the past two years, so the 10 mil mark will not necessarily be reached very quickly.

Their take on "talking heads" looks similar to the style of animation of leaders on the diplomacy screen in Civilization V and VI... which, isn't ideal.
It doesn't have the same extent of lets-keep-this-as-generic-and-bland-as-possible-so-no-one-can-possible-be-offended-...-or-excited but does have a noticeable slice of it.

Caricature-style animation (or "Cartoony") isn't inherently bad but it should be possible to take in a direction that's more unnerving and less HAHA GOOD FUN. Less nu-Civ, Team Fortress and Dungeon Keeper, more Fallout 1/2.

Also, is just me or does the trailer scream "we watched Game of Thrones!"? The axe-carrying "talking head" might as well be a Then standing in the courtyard of Castle Black in a post-nuclear-apocalyptic Westeros. Is this a Coca Cola thing? Are they whipping out their rods, hook and bait swaying and bobbing in the subconsciousness of the unwashed masses, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix?

I suspect the game would be considered a disappointment if it sold as much as WL2. They'll want to try to market this as D:OS with guns. Though by 2019 who knows how relevant that will be...

Maybe you can build a coop in your base, manage it all in the accompanying Wasteland 3 app and get ingame goodies like extra big chickens who give your squad buffs and stuff. Pretty psyched about that tbh.

A Strong First Day, Let's Keep the Train Rolling!
POSTED: 10/06/2016
Hello Rangers,

Thomas here. What an amazing first day we've had! We were really gratified to see the strong response to our work so far, and glad to see our ideas are resonating with so many people! Part of the magic of crowdfunding is finding out if your ideas are pointed in the right direction, and it seems they are! Of course, we have a lot of details on story, setting and design to talk about, and we'll do so, but right now I want to say thank you for this amazing start, and let's keep this train rolling!

Calling All Rangers
Today we are extremely excited to roll out our Ranger Team Missions for the campaign! These Ranger Team Missions are community goals that will let you unlock bonuses for Wasteland 3 – new digital and physical rewards that go into existing reward bundles, new content included in the game, and more! We're off to such a great start, 84% - wait, no it just moved, 85%! -funded and only just into day 2, but we know we can keep the momentum going and we know that all our Rangers out there are the ones who can get the job done!

Here's your missions, Rangers!

As you complete Ranger Team Missions, the Ranger Humvee will trek across the wastes on its long haul. And if you are able to complete the first four in each row, you will unlock special Bravo and Tango versions of those missions that only the most elite Ranger team can finish.

Each goal equals one stop, and each time it hits a major stop, a reward is unlocked! Your first two rewards?

  • At four stops, we'll unlock a set of high resolution shots taken from the prototype scene from the Frosty Reception video, and provide these to all our backers during the campaign.
  • original.gif
At eight stops, an old familiar face will appear – none other than Wasteland's infamous mob boss Faran Brygo, his mighty empire now fallen, will make a cameo appearance in Wasteland 3!

19 Hours Left for Free Game
I also want to remind everyone that our offer of a FREE bonus game will go away tomorrow: there's 19 hours left, so be sure to back before that time!

We had a few questions on this promotion so to clarify: once the campaign finishes, you will get a Steam key for your choice of STASIS or UnderRailthrough our backer web site– you get to pick which one you want, so if you already own one (and if you do, thanks for supporting some great indie games!) you can get the other one.

Thank you for all your support!

They will say anything during this phase, and then cut it back once they get their money...
