The particular thread where Brother None banned hiver I didn't really see anything ban-worthy. He made a bunch of points I agreed with about the game, if in a somewhat aggressive manner. I think Brother None simply got sick of listening to him.

I can't speak for the other threads on the WL forums though.

Official forums are a pain, usually more sensitive that even tumblr people... if anything you say has the slightest chance to offend someone, people get angry over it. Hiver obviously had the wrong tone, but even a politely written message in the lines of "people here need to stop praising everything and develop a critical eye" would already turn into a shitstorm of how you're a angrey troll or something like that... too much groupthink.

I should have been banned a bit earlier when i posted several rudely formed crude critiques of the last video. But beekers couldnt do that because of possible bad PR so he banned me a bit latter when he could make sure it seemed i wasnt banned for critiques but for "insulting the members" - all of it fueled in large by previous exchanges we had around here, on account of his numerous brain farts, (biggest was the one when he and Infinitron went mega stupid together) - general arrogance and laughably pretentious self righteousness, etc, etc.

Ultimately though - it is nothing more then the usual internets crap of this sort thats not really an interesting theme of discussion.
Except maybe for a passing schadenfreude slurper. or polygon.

Elsewhere, you're expected to chow down on developer cock and perhaps slip a few light criticisms in here and there (no more than they can stomach), while also tolerating and respecting butthurt social justice warriors, furries, bronies, and other assorted retards.

In fairness, the WL2 forums really aren't that bad as far as official forums go, and not every moderator is awarded their position as a result of brown-nosing. I'm not just referring to that forum and those moderators, but also to official forums in general.

Star Citizen's forums are worse than any other Kickstarter project's.

For the record, my invitation to the mod team on the W2 forums was a complete surprise, though I admit that I was happy to accept because I like inXile and I spend a lot of time on there anyway. If liking them and being glad to help out when asked makes me "fake as fuck", guilty as charged. :shrug:

Yeah. The difference here is that his behavior on the W2 forums was unprovoked. It appears that he's just like that. Maybe he thinks that being a screaming baby spraying shit is a good and proper way to express yourself everywhere because of his time here on the Codex; maybe he just missed a few hugs growing up; who knows? In any case, over there, he was advised to calm down and act like a goddamned adult, and responded with the juvenile rage that seems to be his hallmark, with predictable results. Now he acts like he chose to be banned, like that was his plan all along because he's so much better than everyone there. Well, hooray for him; he did it!!

But even if it turns out bad i would still kinda think that money was well spent - as investing indirectly into all of that indie movement and revival of old school RPGs, plus it influenced getting a new Torment game too.

Spent #BlackFriday playing Wasteland 2 Beta. Blood Sausage'd in 5 min b/c I thought I was a Hard Ass. I wasn't. Loving it.

Of course Avellone dying in the first five minutes doesn't say anything about how difficult it would be to someone who's not bad at playing games.
