ooooh Day 1 purchase. fucking zoomer speak. I thought maybe it was gamer speak for dip. Now what does that mean? : old :

After what I've seen from the play test I must have assurances of performance issues being addressed and resolved. I like the atmosphere, purging the unclean, and matching with a friend, but at the end of the day it is a hoard shooter and it will likely get worn out real fast. Also that DLC milking looms above like the Sword of Damocles - and this is before dip.

With a little bit of searching, and I mentioned this already, I've seen performance is a widely experienced problem. Some testimonies having far better systems than mine running poorly, or at least performing far lower than what they should be. On that note if someone dumps loads of money into a gaming PC it is their right to take issue with that.
I've even seen people with lower systems than mine saying it runs well. Having said that I would love to have the trouble of only 60 fps that some higher end people say the get.

I guess if you get this game you should know it's going to be a coin toss if it runs playable - regardless of the system you run it on.

Reading over the problems people like me were having I see responses like 'Update your drivers, duh' (like anyone didn't think of that) 'Time to upgrade' (talking to 3080 owners), 'Did you try turning off bloom' 'seems like a hardware problem' and a mountain of other horseshit.

Now those nonsense answers coming from the community, not the developers, but it leads me to now have a demand they acknowledge the performance troubles. Failure to acknowledge the hit of miss performance equals a fuck you from them to me and right back at them.

oh right - two more common responses "this is beta and so it should be expected" "they probably have us testing a many versions old game, the real one is already fixed we just don't see it'. They say this knowing the final release is the end of next month.

Haven't been introduced to the Fatshark experience, huh? I can guarantee you the performance problems will still be there on launch, and will likely never be fully addressed.

Not so. I got Vermintide 2 in early days and it wasn't nearly this bad.

*I probably just won the coin toss.

It was also a different PC.

Vermintide 2 performance was (maybe still is) considered pretty bad too. Not just that, it was extremely buggy on launch as well, and it took Fatshark numerous months to start addressing the bugs to any noticeable degree. I remember people used to joke we were just playing the alpha build rebranded as 1.0. Maybe a bit extreme, but that game was absolutely not ready to launch in the state it was in.

There's also going to be another "Beta" for people who pre-order.

If the pre-order beta is anything like Vermintide 1/2, consider it a soft-launch that doesn't get wiped and you can refund since it technically hasn't released.

Out of curiosity - is there a Versus mode? I loved it in Left 4 Dead series.
For Darktide no.
For Vermintide 2 there was one announced along with a trailer a few years ago but since then there have been no news so it's safe to say that it is canceled.

Vermintide versus is more of Fatshark shamelessly lying, just like they did when it came to dedicated servers. They kept promising them, first for Vermintide, then for Vermintide 2, firstly at release, then to be patched in just after release, then patched in at some point in the future, and it never actually happened. Darktide does finally have them, but that's seven years and two games later. So at this rate maybe we can expect a versus mode in some future game they release after Darktide, in 2026 or something. But even then you shouldn't believe it until it's actually ingame and playable.

The community for this will be 95% mouthbreathers and 5% tryhards so if you don't get in on day 1 and practice to become part of the 5% you won't be able to enjoy the game.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
Okay listen. I'm like you, a digital hermit. But I played so much VT2 that eventually a good group of Balkan people adopted me and we played together ever since.

You'll have to deal with the Randos until then. We could also form a Codex team.

I know someone who will play this (like Vermintide 1 and 2 before that) all day, every day.

Edit: Not me, sadly I have to work for two.

I don't think randoms in VT2 are that bad once you get to higher difficulties. There are mouthbreaters but they usually can't get very far into difficulties and the ultra try-hards are on modded realms playing cata 3 or whatever. I came pretty late to the party and had no problem learning the game. Even if I was bottom of the scoreboard and died multiple times to something I didn't quite figure out most people just go "gg" at the end screen and that's it.
Now this might change with Darktide but I doubt it will get to L4D2 versus levels of autism where you get votekicked for everything.

Pre-order "beta" (possibly head start with progression kept through release) starts next Thursday.

Still no price drop for pre-orders? I have to say it's the first time I am seeing something like this.
