I was under the impression the sniper rifles were basically for stealth play. I can see them being pretty useful if you want to go through a level without ever being shot at for shits and giggles. Though I suppose bows do that better anyways, with the innate silence.

I'd say it's pretty important to learn how to use a sniper rifle too, since Sorties sometimes throw sniper rifle only restrictions at you and I sure as hell ain't going to skip on a Sortie with an Exterminate/Rescue/Spy/MobDefense because of such a little problem.

Anyway, a thing to note about guns is that for the time being (this MIGHT change with Damage 3.0 if it ever comes out and does something as radical as changing a basic part of PvE build principles) the fundamentals of gun mods are almost always base damage mod(s) and Multi-Shot mod(s). Multi-Shot is basically a damage multiplier effect, as it increases pellet count with all weapons (so a rifle with 100% multishot fires two bullets instead of one). Aside from unique exceptions like Hek and Scattered Justice augment, the Multi-Shot mods are Barrel Diffusion and Lethal Torrent for Secondaries (total of +180% Multi-Shot), Hell's Chamber for shotguns (total of +150% Multi-Shot), and Split Chamber for other Primaries (+80% Multi-Shot). Multi-Shot mods are also real Capacity hogs, which is where Formas usually come in first if the polarity isn't built-in to the gun.

Seeing how these are a thing that's otherwise that's a relative pain in the ass to farm, you could just check if any Codexer has spares he could toss your way in regards to these (ie, I do).

As for stealth play, I'd say stealth is more about getting hands-on with your opponents, or bringing a frame that can go invisible. Though there is a certain special satisfaction to be had with using Dread to shoot upper torsos off their legs and nailing them to the wall. Talons are also p lulz for stealth, since they're remote-detonated explosive throwing darts.

also i might be spoiled by all the overpowered weapons but i felt the tiberon seriously underwhelming. if you really need to go for a burst rifle, i'd chose a harpak. maybe it's not the most powerful weapon around but it's fun, satisfying to use, and can ragdoll enemies for some funny chain reactions.
I'd say Tiberon is not as good as some of the most overpowered weapons, but it's powerful enough to hang out with the cool kids.

but still is a "brrt" weapon. nothing much. no fun mechanics, no oomph, no anything. at least the harpak is a gorram burts harpoon launcher which stamps corpses on the walls. that's "shit and giggles", not "brrt".

Its oomph is in the Boltor Prime range, so it's not bad in that respect aside from burst fire feeling clumsy to some people (ie me). And I would say it has a cute thing to it in that it uses a helical magazine with a nice reload animation. So if one wants a bog standard assault rifle with 3-round burst fire and nice visual design Tiberon is not a bad choice.

Got my crystals and a Zhuge in the oven now. Wasn't as hard to get them as I thought, just ran around looking for treasure rooms in a mobile defense 1 tower, got them after a while. Didn't find any of the cool rooms like I saw in the video where you need to parkour a bunch of shit though. Didn't expect the endless enemy spawns in there, are the towers basically always on alert? Makes them very farmable, aside from the enemy variety being annoying. Still better than trying to farm the infested missions though, fucking toxic damage building up over time I can't possibly avoid, urghh.

Also did my first nightmare mission, just a low level spy one. Got a constitution mod, which is fairly underwhelming for my purposes. Still cool to know I can do those if I'm careful.

Also, I've been running around with the mk1 furax just so I had something that could gain mastery in my melee slot- these things are fucking awful. Even with the stance, the range is garbage, the speed is garbage, all it's really good for is knocking down and pummeling single enemies. And it can't even do that vs a bunch that are just immune to that shit anyways. My starter bostaff obviously had shit stats too but at least it could clear crowds of weaklings and inflict some status effects. Way less sure of what I want for a melee weapon in the long run, will have to try a bunch of things out. Stuff with major range has me interested, but I'm also curious about the rapier, daggers, and some of the random ones that do pure elemental damage that seem potentially broken (like those fucking electro nunchucks- wouldn't that basically just permanently paralyze everything all the fucking time? Seems pretty good.) For now I've got a bunch of shitty ones to clear off my plate first though, because I've gotten a few for free right after making one I thought would be good. Melee seems the easiest to passively gain levels on anyways while playing through. Any stealthy mission (especially rescues, wardens are fucking awesome) gives a shitton of chances to cash in on that stealth kill multi, and infested swarms are great for melee spam, at least until the healers show up and ruin everything.

if you want to farm nightmare missions, wait for a low level deception. even if you get the no-shields malus they're easy and extremely fast, solo too.

Constitution is one of my must-have mods with any frame. Aside from Power Duration being almost universally useful, the knockdown recovery bonus is actually much more significant than it seems at first because it also changes the recovery animation to a faster somersault recovery (the purely knockdown recovery mod, Handspring, changes the animation as well so the +100% actually makes it near instant, Constitution is IMO better tho since it combines two very good effects).

And yea, MK1-Furax is awful. As for pure ele melees, most of those are trash, like all the Heat and Dark sharp objects and their variations. Plasma Sword has the dubious honor of being the third worst melee weapon in the game. Ninkondi is good, but IMO Shaku is better due to being much faster and dealing superior damage. Another good one that has an elemental base damage are Lacera (though again its counterpart the Mios is faster and deals superior damage).

As for Single Dagger, it's a massively turd category, but with one exception: Ceramic Dagger is awesome. Basic gist of this is that Ceramic Dagger has at least 25% faster BASE speed than all the other daggers, and at least equal damage. However, even so Ceramic Dagger depends on Covert Lethality mod being equipped for +100 base damage.

Destreza (the only rapier available right now) is a great weapon, good damage, speed, and range. Only downside is that its coverage is generally limited to the front arc (a big advantage for Nikanas and Great Blades is that they have stances that hit 360 degree or almost that wide). One of the earliest high-end melee weapons you can build is Galatine, which my personal choice of Great Blade due to the slightly higher speed over its competitors. Alternative MR3 choice for a keeper when it comes to melee is the Guyver armblades Kronen, which has the fringe benefit of its stance Gemini Cross dropping like candy in the Void. Another top-caliber weapon is the ClanTech Grineer jet-propulsion hammer Jat Kittag (MR5). One of the most versatile weapons is Redeemer, which is actually not a melee weapon but a devastating boomstick with infinite ammo.

I'm somewhat curious about the possibility of a massive crit melee build on Ash. There's a mod that ramps up your crit chance alongside your damage with combos, so I figure if you crank the combo high enough on a decent crit weapon, you could easily get into something retarded like 30-60x damage crits. I figure bladestorm spam is still better anyways for safety, but seeing the single gigantic hits would be good for lulz.

Well, I have Blood Rush but haven't used it, and I don't know if it affects Blade Storm. But evenso, when I bust out my Ash Prime I say like I did pugging yesterday's Sortie Interception with Blib, "I didn't come here to actually play the game, just to get this over with fast."

You also were the only one not constantly nagging me for EV. Probably because you came prepared with pizza to go. :salute:

Still can't get over the speed Nova in Draco afterwards, why even... at least she was the first lying face down in the dirt.

I got one piece of ash so far. Haven't been playing as much lately, but still love the game. Saw a video that recommended either a raid to get the parts (apparently it's easy as cake there) or a syndicate survival mission, which can apparently spawn the manic before you even hit the alarm. Doing the second dream quest right now and I'm seriously regretting having sold off my shitty Akzanis thinking I'd never need them with the Zhuge. Fucking 95% resist to 4 elements bullshit. Took me forever to take down the stalker and then he dropped nothing anyways. Motherfucker. Ended up using volt to get some elec damage in as well and it was still fucking brutal, ran out of ammo and had to run around bashing chests for more.

Edit: I got some decent mods the other day, the fire rate/multi shot one for pistols, and the undamaged power efficiency one. If I make myself a decent pistol weapon I'll be in much better shape I think.

After Stalker's revamp, I've always packed a loadout where I have at least a Viral+Rad and Corrosive+Whatever combination with me, usually going with Viral+Rad with melee and primary and Corrosive+Heat/Cold with secondary.

One word: Sonicor.

and the stalker who roams now is weaker than the before :V
Of course, back in the day for most players it was a case of them either spotting Stalker first and instantly killing him, or vice versa.

Out of curiosity, does the game let you carry all 4 of the keys for the vaults at once? Can you go in solo with all 4 keys if you're strong/ballsy enough?

No, you can only carry one.
Also you should never have more than 1 of each built at a time, because if you have more the one used to open the door will be automatically replaced like any other gear, and you will end up with 2 debuffs.

You sure you want one? They will get the same retarded AI the Cutebros have, just looking at you with puppy eyes while calmly chilling in a fire. Then die. Or getting lost on the other side of the map. Then die again. And then be pissed at you for not rezzing them in time.
It will make you vewwy sad. Careful what you wish for.

Come the think of it, their AI is actually the perfect imitation of a random pug player... gonna call my next one "EV EV EV!" and I have the whole package.

I just hope they give cats the ability to vacuum collect loot like mice. Catcuum! Or roll loot into a giant ball!

KITTEH
When can I get mine?
SPACElacrosse this week and the cats "a few weeks after that". No cats till fall.
