The terrain is a mixed bag for sure. Barrens is the best, followed by Ashenvale and Snow. The rest are pretty bad.

Eh, no. What they are trying to do at the moment is inclusion/representation. That's the first step. Trying to make it seem normal that non-white people are large/equal/significant part of places that didn't have non-white people originally is the second step.

The reason you don't see that kind of move being common/popular in the Eastern Europe is because countries like Czech Republic (Kingdom Come: Deliverance) or Poland (The Witcher series) don't really have a lot of non-white population, so they don't have to seek their approval by inserting races that don't make sense in their games, unlike USA-based companies, which do so by default to avoid upsetting their own public opinion. Warcraft 3 was always shit when it came to the story, writing, tone of the game compared to the original etc. The gameplay was great, multiplayer obviously but also the single player maps (Frozen Throne in particular i rank as among the best single player RTS missions ever made) but the fucking writing was just cringe in every possible way. This is what makes SC2 a real gem in decline, in that the writing was so bad it made even that of Warcraft 3 look like literature by comparison.

And yes, Warcraft 3 was full of SJW shit already back then. They retconned the humans from the original games as "racist", because in most fantasy games, humans = whites which is why they are always portrayed as decadent, corrupt etc. as opposed to the noble Orcs who dindu nuffing and were just misunderstood, right? They made Tyrande an insufferable cunt because muh wombyn power, and so on.

The writing was of course terrible even apart from the l1brul shit. The confrontation between Arthas and Illidan was among the most embarrassingly bad moments in video game history. "Our powers are perfectly matched we could fight for a thousand years lmao". It was basically animu shit.

It was decline compared to Warcraft 2 but the terrain in OG Warcraft 3 looked far better than whatever shit they have in Reforged. Everything looks flat as fuck, detail is completely lost and there's no contrast anymore.

Nearly all early/semi-early real time 3D games have aged like complete ass(yes, yes I know there are exceptions.) OTOH, the prerendered games have aged like fine wine.

I still have some folders filled with WC3 Custom Maps, a lot even dated back to 2002, and this was what WarCraft 3 really was about for me and many people. I think I only played the Main campaign belatedly after I had played a lot of Online games and played loads of Custom maps with friends and Online acquaintances back then, and it was one of the games one could return to every few years and find something new:

Unfortunately they apparently ruined that all too in another dumbfoundingly Stupid-Greedy Nu-Blizzard decision. What they don't seem to get is that the things that they couldn't control, for instance all the Star Wars, Star Trek, Castlevania, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Predator etc. maps and all the shit they would nowadays deem "unacceptable" to their "Community Standards" was what made it all great in the first place and allowed for a space where even new genres of popular games like Tower Defense and MOBAs could be created and flourish.

People Remade other games in WC3, they wrote and designed hour-long Adventures and stories, they thought up and designed entirely new genres from the ground up. If Nu-Battle.Net existed back in the day the way they implemented it in StarCraft II with all the restrictions and the stupid Join system restricted to the most popular maps, these things would have likely never existed in the first place since they'd have extinguished that flame before it could even burn. Same thing could be said for StarCraft growing into nationwide E-Sport in Korea filling stadiums with games that were broadcast on Live TV. As soon as they moved in and tried to take control and profit off of every aspect of that instead of trying to make their money off of game Sales and things like merchandising and whatnot on the side they obviously screwed with what made it so popular in the first place.

If only some people could have predicted what would happen with Blizzard a decade ago, even though not quite predict the heights of stupidity and incompetence like belatedly ruining WarCraft III and squashing its potential long past its due or their Diversity hires starting to introduce never before dreamt of levels of incompetence to the company:
