BROs, after testing both Gamecube and PC SourceNext versions of Resident Evil 3 with Seamless HD Project I've come to the conclusion that PC Version > Gamecube Version.
Pros of PC SN versus GCN? Basically this (and more):
Cons of PC SN versus GCN:
What to do:
And 1280x960 (no aliasing):
That is all.
Pros of PC SN versus GCN? Basically this (and more):
- Tactical Reload mod (Aim + Cancel to reload),
- Xinput / Direct Input / Raw gamepad support,
- Remove Doors mod,
- Plenty other options,
- Properly resized inventory icons when using HD Texture Packs,
- "Proper" difficulty modes: Original Mode (Japanese) = easier, Arrange Mode (Western) = harder.
Cons of PC SN versus GCN:
- Lower res for models. You should play in 1280x960 res for optimal outcome (see below), which is lower that x3 and above internal res in Dolphin.
- Japanese subs in moves. But if you use the FMV Pack, you'll get these too.
What to do:
- Grab the game from Archive.org. I don't think there's other way, except eBay...
- Extract or Install (both .iso and repack are available).
- Patch to 1.1.0.
- Get the Classic REbirth DLL and extract to game's folder.
- Get the Resident Evil 3 HD Mod by TeamX Base Files. This will save you 1,8 GB of bandwidth, since the HD Pack by TeamX sucks donkey's balls, but its "base files" are required by the Seamless HD Project (which kicks ass). Extract all 3 files inside to game's folder.
- Get the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis - Seamless HD Project for PC Sourcenext. Extract both folders to game's main folder.
- Get the Res-o-matic v7. Extract and run, set the game's exe to 1280x960 res:
- Run the shortcut created by Res-o-matic.
And 1280x960 (no aliasing):
That is all.
