That's what I was going for. Stacking all the crit and crit damage.

What were your feat order, btw? That could've played the difference for this build.

Aimed Shot (this was a stupid pick)
Power Management
Recklessness
Steadfast Aim
Practical Physicist

Why are people so butthurt about the speed? It's a brisk walking speed. Do you really need to sprint everywhere? Hardly anyone complained about this in Early Access.
Fuck you. If you enjoy spending minutes at a time walking through empty explored areas then good for you, I don't enjoy spending a few minutes walking through dead areas.

Yes, don't try to fight them until you get an energy shield. Also, melee/crossbow might be stretching yourself too thin, especially in the beginning. It's best to choose one combat skill early on, maybe also Traps and Throwing, unless you're going full psi. It's your choice, obviously.
I was fortunate to find a medium freq. shield lying around so it's been doing a lot of help along with serrated bolts. I do have have throwing as well, but I've been holding off on tossing grenades everywhere on the count of the noise system now. Though I'll try mixing nets in as well, haven't thought about that until just now.

Nah, aimed shot is fine - early game is really annoying without it, it's a prerequisite for the Sharpshooter and a guaranteed crit is always welcome. The bad pick here is the power management, actually - should've went for the Gunslinger instead. And probably opportunist instead of recklessness - the latter is also needed, but the former is easier to use early on. And I guess I'd take Mad Chemist at level 6 - chem pistols are also pretty cool and they get online a bit faster than the energo ones (even if crafting ammo can be a bit annoying).

The game works wile alt+tabbed, you know.

Then take the metro or a boat, jackass. I've been playing this game for over 300 hours and despite seeing many areas repeatedly over the course of several different playthroughs, at no point does the occasional short downtime while backtracking or whatnot ever seem excessive.

I am more irritated by the splitting minigame I need to do each time I want to barter for anything...

I don't understand this, either, at least with regard to SGS Credits. Before 1.0, the game would always try to use all SGS Credits before adding any Charons. Now, Auto just dumps Charons into the trade window when bartering with SGS merchants, and I have to add up the totals and count out the credits myself.

You're right about Power Management, but I think Aimed Shot is a so-so choice with this build. Coupled with good Goggles I had a quite high crit chance and was getting them rather reliably. Recklessness adds 7% more crit chance which is huge when you add the bonus of Steadfast Aim. Gunslinger I did not pick because it doesn't work with Energy weapons. I did not pick Opportunist because I'm unsure what it works with. The wording on the feats is crap and not always clear.

THIS, very annoying... since SGS credits are a "worse" kind of money (only accepted by SGS merchants) they should always be auto-selected before charons when possible,

Yeah, my bad, forgot about the Gunslinger. Aimed Shot is great, though. You make 2 shots per turn, it works once every 3 turns, i.e., once every 3 shots. Your crit chance, even with all the bonuses, will be smth 40 percent. So that's 60% to one shot - 10% on the average. And that's when you want it, not when it happens by rng.

And opportunist totally works with the stun from electro pistol and with the rooting from the acid pistol. The lesser bonus also applies to the chill from the cryo one.

I decided to use my two lockers in private room for extra stuff. One is for components and other for the rest. I got few thousand of SGS credits worth of items inside there already due to local shopkeepers not having enough money or not wanting to buy it.
You'll have new and more expensive weapons to sell long before that. Recycle them and make repair kits, sell and/or use those.

Does Opportunist work with all melee and ranged weapons? It simply says "Weapons" on the feat and last time I got burned by Firearms so I want to be sure. I can see it being a good pick paired with Kneecap Shot as well.

You are just fucking brilliant aren't you. This game doesn't have a metric shit ton of caves, no. Who gives a shit what you find excessive? The slow walking speed adds nothing. The only real time element in the game which affects combat is stealth. If you had a sprint option you could just make it break stealth, it's not fucking rocket science.

I know, so what? Alt Tabbing every 10 seconds in the course of a minute doesn't seem like an appealing solution.

Yeah. IIRC, only psi & grenades/traps are excluded.

Walking speed is the worst thing about underrail and I hated it from the beginning in EA. Its slow as fuck when the game is designed to have a lot of backtracking and levels are esigned for some getting lost. They needed a fast foreard button, its like morrowind walking speed... without the scenery.

If there is one thing that get my blood flowing it is stuns. Having a sledge-hammer wielding maniac run 10 meters right up to you and stunning you for half your health and then killing you the next turn while you are helpless is a bit rage inducing. I'm getting flashback fighting retribution paladins from vanilla WoW pvp :argh:

I have annoyances with Barter screen.

Why is there no "Weight" or "money worth" category to select. If I want a quick rundown on what items i can sell for the most money, or which items weigh the most if i wanna drop something?

Should be a QoL improvement.
