The name was used intentionally, but beyond a few token similarities, it might as well just be a random evil spirit.

Damn. I hate when they do take a cool hystorical/mythical character and do a completely uninspired game about them. :(

But instead we got a Lara Croft orgasm squealer.

Also there are these;

But they ditched all this and all we got an Uncharted clone (which was "insipired from Tomb Raider ironically...) with boobs and moanings...

The original concept did look so awesome. How does a studio even go from that to what we got in the end?

They should have finished that instead. :(

Same way Cyrodil from Rome in Vietnamese Jungle transformed into quasi faux XVIc England; Senorita Gatta Nera ; Popamolards crave familiar and safe settings. Women teachers discouraging adventure seeking, risk taking and out of the box imagination etc...

Downloaded it from The Bay due to some nostalgia from when I was a teenager and outlasted 2 hours before unsinstalling. What a boring piece of "push the button" shite.

I haven't played Tomb Raider since the first one on the Saturn (and a bit of anniversary which is the first one again) but feel like trying one again. Is 4 the best one of the bunch?

Weird, I seem to have 1-5, AoD (wtf gog?) & Anniversary (free with some hardware I don't even remember) that I don't even remember getting so I suppose I should at least try them out.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
4 is the best in my opinion. It has some really large levels, some with central hubs and backtracking, the challenge is pretty good too, and it doesn't have that many vehicle sections (vehicle sections in TR suck).

Play 4.

Thanks, I tried 4 and it looks good :)

I also had a quick go at Anniversary since I had it to hand and oh god at that camera.

2 had dat awesome Asian temple. Den dose floating islands. Shit was p. epic at the time. I'd pay a few bucks just for DLC of that chapter done up Anniversary style.

Man, anyone who thinks NUmb Raider is fucking with any of this good shit sticks Barbie dolls up his ass behind chest high walls.

I have to admit, some of those deaths are genuinely disturbing, like the one where her neck is impaled onto a pipe after sliding a rope. Whew.

I found myself saying "Sorry Lara" to the screen whenever she died in a horrible way during my playhtough - some of the deaths really do look nasty.

Saying that, she falls off so many mountains/trees/buildings/waterfalls/precariously dangling crashed planes etc over the course of the game and picks herself up that it's a bit of a shock when something happens that actually kills her!

Why would anyone want to grimdark Tomb Raider? It's like grimdarking Indiana Jones. Some of those scenes really strike me as the devs being overly pumped up for her deaths. I can just imagine the demos, all in dark room, bunch of creepy dudes, going "She just got impaled in the mouth! AWSUM"

Oh wait it got rave reviews and sold a bajillion copies, carry on.
