I don't wish he were, not by a long shot, but it's something of a running gag on the dex, so I ask because of the off chance it might be true.

I'm quite pleased this kickstarter failed to be honest. In the long run it can only be a good thing, it's proven that you really need to put some time and effort into your pitch to have a succesful campaign.

Actually, the gag we keep running here is that the Codex is gay for MCA. Not the other way around. Sadly.

Everyone blame Jaesun for the mega dungeon not being any bigger.

The problem with the pitch being vague is Tim Schafer can say he wants to make an adventure game and you have a pretty good idea what that means, Obsidian can say they want to make an IE inspired game that communicates a lot of basics. Old School RPG doesn't really communicate much. On top of that the pitch video was awful. The 'It's in the bag' early stretch goals made things worse, and two games for 2 million may be the stupidest stretch goal ever. It says there is no unifying vision behind the game.

Some people have mentioned that poor Tom and Brenda, being the old school devs they are, suck at marketing and that's the reason why their kickstarter failed. I don't buy that. People here mentioned a lot of things that were wrong with this pitch, and all of them could have been corrected without having to rely on marketing-suits who pimp up your campaign.

My personal issue with the campaign was that everything about it, including the writing in the initial pitch and the updates, seemed like done by 11-year olds. It was incompetent to the point of looking like a parody. Thing is, Tom and Brenda haven't done a real game in years, so how can I - as a potential backer - be sure they haven't become senile during that time? Judging by the pitch video and the subsequent updates this seems to be what happened.

This could have been life changing for the red velvet pillow industry. Now we will always wonder what could have been.......

They said they're cancelling the project several days ago, yet the site it still live. They've been asked about that and they've said...

"Why's the project still live?
We are and have been attempting to cancel it since we made the decision yesterday. However, there's a problem with Kickstarter. We've contacted them.

"We apologize, but it looks like something's gone wrong. We've been notified about this issue, and we're currently looking into it. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the inconvenience. Please try again later."
It's a glitch in KS".

I'm calling bullshit here. You know what I think? (Conspiracy Theory Mode ON!) Behind the scenes, they're begging and pleading with Kickstarter to let them change the monetary goal of the game. I know of several other struggling campaigns that have tried this too. I bet they're trying to finangle it down from $1,000,000 to say, $300,000 - so they could meet their goal and keep the money they've raised so far. Or they're looking to extend the time-line of the campaign, so see if they can have more time to raise the money. Just sounds a little fishy to me.

There's a difference between a pitch being bad and the thing being pitched being bad. The thing being pitched was bad, and it was by people no one really cares about.

They don't need a fancy powerpoint slide, they need to suck less and have been a bigger part in more projects people actually care about. Never heard of Tom Hall and wiz 8 was kind of crap and Brenda was one of like 20 people who worked on it. So someone did a little writing and design as part of a big team on a few games that are sequels - so what? Especially since JA 2 is hardly about writing and wiz 8's design was worse than any other wiz.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, "Due popular demand for Shaker we have managed to lower the goal with the help of Kickstater".

Well, the project finally was cancelled today. I don't know what took so long. It usually does not take that long.

They should give that money to Cleave for Grimoire....

I got my dollar back from my pledge. I was spending it before it was ever refunded because I knew it was not going to succeed.

What is truly sad is that had these frauds spent more than 30 seconds thinking about the game and working on the pitch they probably would have made it.

Now their next chicanery has this legacy going in. Lots of people will think they are just trying to run a better con the second time around.

I think Tom Hall is a real game developer. Whatever he has been doing lately, some of his games were just damn good and I suspect it was because he was working on them. I will still support a well-grounded campaign by Tom Hall anytime he wants to undertake something as fun as Commander Keen or Anachronox. I know Brenda and that is why I would never give her a dime.

Honestly, fuck Tom Hall. Glad this failed miserably.
This retard wanted Doom to have a shitty science fiction plot, and disliked the demonic/satanic theme and gore.
You mean like Doom 3?

No, like a crappy science fiction novel with sentient aliens and stuff, and no dismembered bodies, pentagrams and flaming skulls.
Edit: now that I remember, Doom 3 didn't have many of those either.
