Weren't some people (sorry, "people") playing press demo of Dishonored just standing there going :retarded: because the guards told them to not go upstairs so they didn't?

Seriously, some people out there are only good for a landfill.
Allegedly this happened during QA. Or maybe the story is just the devs trying to deflect their fuckups. Personally I think the blame is 100% on the devs: they hired the QA people and they made the decisions.

I don't think anyone like that could actually design and create a game, so I think the problem really was retarded QA people.

Personally, I'd just dispose of them by locking them in a basement somewhere with level designed so that it would loop while they'd pursue the quest marker. No one would ever find out.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

Why so much effort? Just put a sign on the door that says "do not open".

I'm certain they'll put exclamation/question marks over the heads of the guards, when they get alerted. That or any visual indicator, like metal gear and dishonored...

I just hope that we will NOT get any "special abilities", retarded "collect special runes" or the concept of an "entire" city. Some special gadgets (rope arrows, please!) are fine, but I'm sick to death of every stealth-pretender game having to have special skills or super combo movies.

I probably hope in vain, though. Also, the use of the word "reinvention" worries me.

Edit: Fuck, I just read it will have a "Focus" ability which will apparently show you what pipes or ladders you can climb, drawers to open and where the valuables are. Which you can also upgrade.

Go to hell, Eidos Montreal.

And yes, you can complete the game without killing anybody
I actually believe them on that one.

I think they showed rather well with HR that they can make a decent, interactive game world that would work well with a Thief-style game, assuming they're able to ramp up the level size. I'm more concerned about the 'next-gen' features that will no doubt be present, as well as the general art direction. Looks like a console game with way too much shader and filter shit, instead of proper lighting.

Someone should make a Thief-style game with the Stalker engine. That (in-doors) lighting is just so much better than anything else out there.

I don't doubt the talent of their individual designers (level design, game systems, etc.) because they have shown themselves more than competent.

The problem is high-level design ideas, basic mechanics and poor interpretation of the vision present in the original games - the kind of stuff that is determined by a producer or project lead and not necessarily anyone working underneath. For all we know, they really have done their homework - but Square Enix need the game to sell X copies and it's Eidos' job to ensure it does so, requiring certain sacrifices or alterations to meet targets. If someone at the top says the game needs to have "action" and "be like Dishonored" then everyone else doesn't have much choice in the matter unless they can somehow successfully argue otherwise.

Fox Mulder?

Is that gel or the cum of consoletards and game journalists in his hair?

o_O

Do you really need to ask that?

In the upcoming AAA blockbuster GOTY "Robber (tm)" you play the role of master-thief/robber Gerald, who goes about stealing everything in sight in the seedy, grimy city only known as "The Town" (potentially replace with "The Metropolis" to sound more epic). In a Victorian-inspired steampunk setting filled with decadent nobles, corrupt police and religious zealots called "The Wrenchites", he sets out to seek the satisfaction of a heist well done. But there are evils hidden in the dark underbelly of The Town/Metropolis (tm) that threaten not just Gerald, but the entire city. Will he prevail in the face of this ancient evil?

There. New IP. They are anyway changing everything that made Thief what it was, they can just as well change the last few remaining things (the names).
You are fired!

Where is the beautiful heiress of the most popular/influential family in The Town/Metropolis (tm) whose jewels and maidenhood our brave Geralt will steal all in one swell whoop only to discover he has fallen in love just as she is abducted by supporters of Ancient Evil (tm) as a way to control her father to do the Evil bidding? And then used as a sacrificial lamb for that same Ancient Evil (tm) in the big finale Huh...Huh?

Gord made a mistake. It's a victorian-gothic setting. Whatever that means. But it sounds awesome anyway!

It's interesting that REDDIT of all places is reacting quite negatively to everything Eidos is pumping out. Aside from a few shameless apologists who are going to every length to justify their horse blinders, the recent Garret reveal generated a nigh-palpable rage over there. People are even suggesting the idea of a "Buy Dishonoured" day at launch to really give them the finger.

Perhaps this is going to turn into a popcorn worthy fiasco after all.

So do you guys think this will have romance in it? I could never get immersed in the original Thief because I couldn't romance the burricks.
