Can you post any modern examples that use similar mechanics to the one used in Wizardry 7 (or any wizardry game for that matter)?
You mean phase-based combat? Too many to count

Demon Gaze series
Elminage series
Etrian Odyssey series
Grimoire
Infinite Adventures
Jettatura
Labyrinth of Refrain & Labyrinth of Galleria
Labyrinth of Zangetsu
Mary Skelter series
Saviors of Sapphire Wings
Stranger of Sword
Undead Darlings
Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi
I meant with topdown visuals! I know they exist using FP view

Phantasie dungeons were more like active minimaps you played in (well the first two). Come to think of it, the first two seemed entirely like playing in/on a minimap but with fog of war to clear. Nothing wrong with it but that doesn’t say Wizardry to me. I wish the early JRPGs actually used the fog of war to clear maps.

This idea sort of reminds me of Dark Designs Games which seems like it adds tactical combat as well.

Legends I & II maybe tries in combat but that’d be stretching it.

Random wizardry 8 question: after importing the longstem spade, it's treated as an undroppable special item. Does it have any function in wiz8 other than as a weapon?

A Wizardry clone. Interesting, I have never played it.
crpgaddict had played and finished it.crpgaddict

Heh, I have commented it with "no thanks" on my play list.
Would you be so kind as to elaborate further, please? :)
I need this simple wizardry clone now. Go to the dungeon, kill monsters, back to town, level up, buy/sell loot.

Now this is interesting from crpgaddict's site, I have never seen these 2 crayons:

  • In an e-mail to me, Brian said he was disappointed that I didn't show the opening screen shot of the game--the first view outside the adventurer's guild--which caused many early players to ask him why they'd drawn an image of two crayons pointing at each other. It took me forever to understand what he was talking about--mostly because I've gotten so used to wireframe dungeons that my mind automatically interprets them in 3D.

Lol! Two crayons. I see it now.

No videos and no manual found unless a link in crpgaddicts comments reveals it. Does archive simply not allow downloads?
Use the myabandonware version. Manual is in the zip file.
So far I used crpgaddict's maps. But at Galt's Home Level 2 I have to make my own map. Ooops, that is a difficult work. I always use automap or downloaded maps.
Here is my map:

I always wondered about wiz7 vs Gold.

The first main difference between the original Crusaders of the Dark Savant and Wizardry Gold is that they are designed for different computer platforms. While Crusaders of the Dark Savant can be played on Windows 3.1, Windows NT, and Windows 95 computers (and beyond), Wizardry Gold will not work in DOS by itself.

I need to listen to the music comparisons. No diplomacy working sounds shitty.

The portraits in the Gold version also suck and it's infamously buggy.

Slight tangent on the iOS game sorcery. It is free on ios but USA only has #1, #4, and #6

Can anyone confirm if Japanese location ios has 2,3, & 5?

Some links I did find:

Manuals: (a little html editing accesses them) (simple maze is also part but developer needs to update for it to work on modern iOS.

I really can’t find a way to reach out to the developer but maybe codexian peeps can.

And there are no guides which is good: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/games/company/85785-deathhead-and-co

Still, I’m bummed the whole series isn’t available. Maybe if devs could be reached they’d update Mazes and add the missing ones.

Anyway, T-Mobile service was shit last night so no posts or video watching. Instead J opened up the first game and made some autistic char re-rolling taking gear, collecting start gold, and getting some dudes with 16-19 starting points. I filled out two fighters with best gear I could buy, same with cleric and rogue . Mages I guess i could have bought a shadow staff whatever the fuck it does but meh. And then I started. I have sone extra backup dude as when you gold exploit more 19s popped up. I also have a bishop in the shop. I soon realized, I have no graph paper under the tree. I need to remedy that to map.

I am playing Dragon Sword more..
I generated the walls and doors from the data files of the game.
I have to map only the spec fields like dark, teleport, stairs, etc. And fill in the visited fields (green).
Unfortunately the generated map is not perfect, some walls/doors are wrong. But that seems not big problem so far.

I have killed Galt. I got -451 XP for that. How fortunate it wasn't -451 million. Imagine that.
And now my party is in the dungeon up to our neck:

Dragon Sword.
Honestly, I do not like mapping at all. And in the Shit Hole i had frequent program hanging up during battle. Anyway I liked this game more than Wizardry 5.
