So what options should one remove? Do the quests give enough information / hints to allow you to remove the quest map stuff?

So it's confirmed. The game finally shed everything that was good about TW1. Fux. By the time I get to play it, there will hopefully be some good mods.

  • Graphics are slightly improved.. Not so much textures but Water is 100x better and trees actually flow in wind.. ect (If you don't like the water on Ultra settings, you need glasses)
The water is terrible, for game that brags about visuals, I've seen water better rendered in lot's of games, some even don't dare to be considered AAA super graphics whore bait.

Witcher 1 water is much better.

Oh, and water in ultra settings differ very little from low settings.

What about water don't you like?

The Bumping and Texturing is great. The Refraction is good. The Physics feel good (when you are wading then begin swimming)

If you hated Witcher / Witcher 2, you won't like this game.

Wrong, this game has very little in common with The Witcher 2. Much closer to Witcher 1/ Gothic 2 with it's own style. After 5 hours I think that's what Piranha Bytes wanted to do with Gothic 3, but failed.

It's the same engine as Witcher 2, Even some of the items you can get have the same slightly improved icons as items from Witcher 2, Controls feel the same, Combat feels the same, Physics are largely the same.

is Witcher 3 better? IMO absolutely.

But the games play very similar mechanically.. If you hated Witcher 2.. You aren't gonna love this game. I loved Witcher 2 so my opinion is gonna be biased and I'm trying to set aside my fanboyism and look at the game empirically.

So Nilfguard's soldiers are level 15.
And they still want a level 1 Witcher to handle the monsters.
Ha Ha Ha.

Looks like "uber" settings can't fix what isn't there.

One Million lah's to the first codexer who finds this wall and takes screenshots on Ultra settings. :smug:

Ha Ha Ha.

The whole concept that Geralt can die to two hits from a wolf on the hardest difficulty makes no sense.. Didn't we like kill a dragon or something?

Well, it makes sense to me that a level 15 inbred retard can't handle a monster that a uber-mutated, uber-trained level 1 Witcher can. Dunno, think of the Witcher as the SAS of Temeria, while your red-shirt average-joe soldiers are barely more than farmers with an armour slapped on. Realism, lah, realism!

Combat is okay, surprisingly. Still feels floaty though, same with the movement. It feels like you are glued to the ground, and you skate along the ground, up and down small bumps.

What is really annoying though is on my system the fps goes up and down like a yo yo. Don't have the best card geforce 770, but settings don't seem to matter much. Don't know what is causing it, still hoping for a magical settings hidden somewhere.

The first hour or so of this game feels very retro in that it's completely insufferable.

What now? You want modern gamedesign or oldschool gamedesign? Game should be challenging but you want to be invincible to wolves because you fought a dragon in the previous game?

Make up your mind codex goddamnit. I for one dont give a shit about some weird looking walls (because i play on low settings anyways) or any other nitpicking bullshit you guys fling around, and im having a blast with this game.

Movement keys cannot be reconfigured.
The configuration files don't appear to be modifiable either. PC master race.

Why would you want to change WASD? Are you a left-handed Hell-spawned freak? :smug:

Yes. But, arrow keys work for movement too. And the other key binding options are better than i assumed for a console centric game. On my i5 gtx760 it runs well, mostly high/medium and postprocessing and hair shit off except aa, on a 1920x1200 resolution. As others first thing i did was to turn of the ? Interesting spot notifications on the whole map. Who thought that was a good idea should be shot.

It's said that if you focus on the swordsmanship tree when levelling up, you'll get *visually* better, you'll unlock more animations for Geralt, so he'll move faster and shit.

Ok, after playing with the graphical settings a bit more I was able to make it run "decently" ( aka 40-50 fps outdoors ) on my 2600K + HD 7970. I still don't think it looks too impressive, not much better than Skyrim which was a 2011 game. So for a 2015 game, picture me as unimpressed.

Also, eating and drinking underwater, people. Underwater. 2015 RPG.
