Do any people actually enjoy games anymore? Just all the nitpicking of every game, it's like don't you remember Mario and shit. How have people had fun with all old games but now people don't seem to like playing games.
It is because we enjoy games that we have such a reaction. This is not a bad game, just a painfully mediocre one. CDPR made a safe, by the numbers RPG. something i didn't really expect. The best comparison is definitely Dragon age inquisition.

No it's not. Almost every game gets a poor reception here and people here got so cynical over the years that they forgot how to enjoy games. In every new game thead there's haters, 80% "meh it's mediocre" or "okay for what it is" and like 2 people enjoying it. Everyone here just loves to bushwhack every game because they feel betrayed and are bitter.
That's only your experience if you only read about overhyped kickstarter dreams and AAA crap.

People lose the sense of wonder they walk into gaming with. Things that you learn to overlook for the sake of enjoyment in your youth start to gnaw at you, later in life. Coupled with buyer's regret and the looming notion that the hourglass, which seemed so full not long ago, is running down... well, what you see is what you end up getting. People want more value out of their time and money.

But the Codex certainly suffers from an overabundance of 'this is the worst thing that has ever happened, since the last thing that happened' hyperbole slinging edgesters.

And that's good, it cancels out retardation like that:

You're also not allowed to skip a step. For instance, during one investigation, my mate ran off and found the place the monster was supposed ot be. Dead body of th emissing person outside the cave and all. but wasn't allowed to enter until he went back and followed the footprints there.

In other places you can skip steps though. The griffin quest?

I only later found out (watching a LP on YT) that you're supposed to find some hunter who escorts you to some dead bodies and from there you follow a trail towards the dead griffin. I didn't do any of it. Found the griffin carcass way back while exploring so after I got the quest I just hopped in there, examined the griffin and boom, quest completed.

Also as for the arsonist quest, I wonder if

you can, after getting the quest, simply run to the house the guy is hiding in without following the whole trail chain.

Nope, not true, good try tho.

Codex loves flawed games, what this site hates more than anything is banal shit boring games, and they will tell you why they are shit. Thats all there is to it. I wouldnt have enjoyed games like poe or wl2 10 years ago in the same way i dont enjoy them today.

I would stil enjoy games like AP or VtMB today, flawed as they are, because they are fun to play.

That is the codex at its heart, a site that will talk about good games fondly, and shit all over bad games, and now, like in the past, most games are in fact banal shit boring time wasters, Its just that today theres more "hype" (more stupid idiots that cannot into thinking or objectivity) so people with good taste shitting all over them stands out more.

CDPR is tackling the downgrade head on.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty, know that a big patch with 600 changes - including improvements to graphics and graphical settings - was sent to certification today (Wednesday 20th May), and will take between five and seven days to clear. There will be patch notes covering it all.

In addition, CD Projekt Red will patch the game to allow editing of .ini files on PC, to push graphical settings even higher. You will be able to tweak grass and vegetation density, post-processing effects such as sharpening, and draw distances. The .ini patch will arrive soon after the other patch. "And we think about some other tricks but we need time," Adam Badowski says.

****

Great news. Except in seven days I'll be finished with this game.

Anyway, don't need any of it anymore. Running a FOV mod and some SweetFX mods with natural colour palette. Very nice result.

Witcher 3 isn't a flawed game. It's a great-for-what-it-is game, which Codexers have traditionally loved to hate. Witcher 3 is what DAI ought to have been, but wasn't, because Bioware bad, etc.

I just entered a nekker cave in Velen and the soundtrack hit me like a wondrous eerie siren call. The good parts of the soundtrack seem to be hidden; bad move. They should have had music like this from the start of the game. I almost forgot there was music.

The default music in Velen that loops over and over has a tragic, melancholic feel to it, which fits the setting.

Game is not downgraded at all in any way whatsoever since 2013.

Game isn't downgraded because a video doesn't count as down grade material.

Okay maybe we downgraded, but pc will have lots of graphics options, same textures as Witcher 2 we promise.

Okay we lied, but we will soon release patch that will make pc version ultra.

These faggots are as pathetic as it gets. Can't even, just once, tell the truth. No please keep going, never buying your crappy games again.

Yeah, what's especially facepalm worthy is this:

"If you're looking at the development process," Iwinski begins, "we do a certain build for a tradeshow and you pack it, it works, it looks amazing. And you are extremely far away from completing the game. Then you put it in the open-world, regardless of the platform, and it's like 'oh shit, it doesn't really work'. We've already showed it, now we have to make it work. And then we try to make it work on a huge scale. This is the nature of games development."

"Maybe it was our bad decision to change the rendering system," he mulls, "because the rendering system after VGX was changed."

It was captured PC footage, not pre-rendered, Badowski confirms, but a lot had to change. "I cannot argue - if people see changes, we cannot argue," Adam Badowski says, "but there are complex technical reasons behind it.

And then some M$ lawyers in the back raised their eyebrows so back to the marketspeak we go:

We don't agree there is a downgrade but it's our opinion, and gamers' feeling can be different.

Lol.

Wait until you hear the Emperor of MILFguard (who's the guy doing the VA? He's good) or Triss or Ciri, then you'll cream in your pants.
True, but whom I found really brilliant in terms of voice acting were the people surrounding the emperor! Think best voice acting performance I've ever seen is this guy who tells you topick a dress etc. pp.! :incline:

Fuck the graphics and everyone who keeps harping on about them. Game is very pretty and atmospheric, and I don't even play on ultra. Why does nobody mention the broken ass controls and what steps CDPR are planning to take to fix them?

Also no cooking of meat. Or any other dishes for that matter. Even Arcania had that FFS.

Nilfgaardian language sounds comically like German. Nilfgaard - Holy Roman Empire parallels are strong.

It's interesting how all of the hatred against Geralt comes largely from the villagers in Temeria. Nilfgaard by contrast has looked at Geralt strictly as a professional monster hunter, and always with respect.

At least, so far. I've gotten a fairly good sample size of Nilfgaardians by this point. Nilfgaardians are definitely portrayed as more complex motivated characters than the typical douchebag that inhabits your average village in The Witcher series. This seems a departure from their earlier depiction as stoic kingdom smashing cunts. Geralt is often given opportunities to flap his tongue at them but it seems forced.

It runs well on high settings on my ATI Radeon HD 5970 at 1680x1050. It works perfectly fine on Ultra, but jitters a tad too much for my liking in panoramic scenes. Hardware cursor on video settings is a necessity.

Witcher 3 plays like Perfect Dark on the consoles. I liked how they told reviewers that the day one patch would address the framerate issues but it didn't do shit. If you can't make one of your own cutscenes run smoothly then you should pull your head out of your ass. 10/10 reviewers should be taken out and shot, no game should get 10/10 unless it's perfect.

Go fuck yourself.

Okay, man, you keep hammering that 'my taste in games is a matter of objective analysis' gong. It's definitely not people that change, it's the games. You've convinced me.

And what happened to music, man? It used to be so good.

They just don't make things like they used to, any more. The world is going to hell in a hand basket.

I just did the Botchling quest and damn, that's easily one of the most memorable quests of all time. It's just a great fucking story, disturbing, morally ambiguous and... touching. It IS emotionally engaging. Yeah, i felt bad for the baron, even though he's a wife beater and a drunkard (i guess that makes me a misogynist). I liked the game so far, but now i fucking love it.

Exactly my feeling , it was frickin great, and notice how the weather and atmosphere change to fit the quest . Plenty of significant choices and consequences in velen . That's a great moment for gaming, those kind of quest design ill remember forever. If it keeps going like that its GOTY.

Greetings, friends! Have you come seeking the light!?

That's where you go if you can't handle criticism, newfags. There are plenty of threads on the codex where the majority of people are positive about the game in question. KSP, Underrrail, Battlebrothers, D:OS, Dragonfall DC, Cities: Skylines, Blackguards 1, SitS, Xulima and Grimrock threads spring to mind as recent game threads where there will be more positive than negative opinions. Same goes for all the Fallout, V:TM, Deus Ex, Morrowind etc threads. Not to mention all the weaboos in jrpgd. The only reason you'd think we hate everything is if you only read about AAA Crossplatform popamole games.
