The game is kinda repulsive.
People will have to put some real effort to out-edge this one.

You don't find the overbearing UI to be a problem? The amount of floating text everywhere is horrid.

It's not that far away from this:

Apart from the sometimes a bit clunky movement (I've now switched to controller...) I really like the game so far. Everything seems almost on point, graphics and atmosphere are top notch, writing is cool too. Even combat is satisfying (so far) with the exception being horse combat, which is extremely clunky.

But: Anyone knows how to disable that automatic recenter when on horseback? I want to ride and look at the scenery a bit without constantly automatically recentering my view.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Bubbles In Memoria
few observations

PC Key binding could be better but not catastrophicly bad, IF you use arrows or wasd for movement (this cannot be rebound - the person who designed this should be tied to the rack).

I dont mind though that some other keys are fixed (apart from movement which is unforgivable) but it is lazy design.

Gfx are ok on a gtx760, on my rig comparable to dai maybe slightly better (im no gfx connaiseur).

Combat, i expected this to be extreme shit and well, basically, it is very much tolerable, more so than in w2, even with my lousy twitch skills i feel i have much more control over Geralt than in previous games. I experienced no issues moving or controlling Geralt btw (latest driver installed)

Story and "Immersion": i like it very much sofar (finished prologue), in these early stages it crushes dai easily.

I love how invoking dark souls is supposed to mean something, as if it set standards for... anything.

Other than DkS2 having the best combat system of any ARPG fucking ever, yeah I'm inclined to agree with you.
Look, 2015, share your dumb thoughts with morons on neogaf or ribbit, I heard they all love shitty console ports.

Codex is now Neogaf, bro. There's at least two or three dozen posters here that have bought/are currently playing Tit Witcher 3. The war is over. Action games disguised as RPGs have won.

Also really on point: sound effects. It was storming and I was entering a forest. Extremely well done.

I also don't think it's a poor port. It's maybe not the best port, but certainly better than any other shit AAA games like Watch Dogs. I have solid 40-50 FPS on my 3 years old gpu. So there's that.

:nocountryforshitposters:

It's certainly in the top 3. Can't think of any games aside from Blade of Darkness and Dragon's Dogma that have a shot at beating Souls there.

Holy shit bro, don't do that. For a second there I thought this was a real screenshot.

They won back when Bioware released mass effect 1.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
After watching quite a few streams I have to say, this game would have been 1000% better if they condensed the size and map and made individual areas more detailed. As always it's an open world not because there's anything interesting to find or see... but because it's demanded after Skyrim. I hate Bethesda for what they did almost as much as I hate Bioware.

Jumped off the wall in the tutorial and died. And then:
"Hey, you said that's not allowed," said Ciri.
"I said you're not allowed to do that," retorted Geralt, lying dead on the ground.

You showed her, Geralt.

You can actually make it look not that bad with Sweet-FX. I'm using K-Putt's config. The sharpen filter may seem a bit too hardcore on screenshots, but doesn't bother in motion. And makes the foliage look way better.

Disable in-game AA before installing, otherwise the game can crash at start - Sweet-FX has a faster AA anyway. With maxed settings (only disabled that hair gimmick and motion blur) I'm getting a stable 40-45 fps when outside, in vanilla it was 30-35. GTX780.

Are the cries of disappointment going to be posted to this thread, or there will be another one dedicated to it?
Disappointment? You underestimate the Neogaf continent on RPG Codex. Lots of people will think this is GOTY 10/10.

This. A lot of news on the front page about this triple-A turd and people talking fondly about this garbage on the Codex, in broad daylight, without any lynchings. This place is filled with popamole players. What a fucking joke.

Wow, when it comes to combat, they just had to clear the low bar of improving on what they built for the second one, yet those cargo cultists seemingly managed to mess that up.

I guess Mills is unable to objectively evaluate products he works on. :M

-This game could have been so much better if they didn't make it ''open-world'',played for quite some time and now i'm losing interest by the minute. The game is tedious and fucking christ what's with the slow leveling? I get like 20-50xp per fucking quest and i need 2000 more to get to the next level, bullcrap.
-The game kinda forces you to follow the main plot because you can't really do much when there's monsters out there with 20 levels over you,who the hell thought this is a good idea? It's not like you are not going to come back later and one shot the mofo, stupid design.
-The world feels empty as fuck, even with the stupid amount of villages and 10000 cloned npcs,it just feels empty. There's nothing interesting to see in the world, the enviroment feels bland, similar to Inquisition ,just big ass copy pasted portions of land to compete with Skyrim ''Oh look my dick is bigger than yours'' pity it's fucking limp you dumb ass polak.
-They transformed this game into a farming simulator, every fucking herb, barrel, satchel, everything is filled with garbage loot from head to toe.Same shit as Inquisition, pick every fucking flower, rotten meat, limp dicks, sticks, rocks just to add more ''content''...horrible.
-The quests quality are sub par, almost everything seems to come from a board,?,letter,ledger,book...What the fuck happened with the ''Every quest feels unique and not shoved down your throat'',fucking lying cunts.
-The writting is hit and miss, pretty weak compared with withcher 1-2.In Witcher 1-2 the writing was focused more on your problems and didn't wandered too much from your objectives ,here it seems that Geralt gives a shit about everyone out of the sudden..
-The combat is horrible, the whole movement system is horrible, controlling Geralt is like handling a limousine on ice and the delays between your attacks, abilities just adds to the flavour of shit this game is trying to serve me..
-C&C basically resumes to White Knight Geralt and Asshole Geralt, rarely you will get some in between.

You make a shit game, you downgrade the shit game to make the game more shittier than it already is and you still get 9-10s?Another Wasteland 2,PoE expierince, great reviews for shit games, fucking overhyped pieces of shit.
Enough is enough ,no more money from me.:keepmyjewgold:

Is leveling even useful? I thought I read that it's shallow stuff like +5% more damage and whatnot.

It's certainly in the top 3. Can't think of any games aside from Blade of Darkness and Dragon's Dogma that have a shot at beating Souls there.

DD definitely does magic better. much, muuuch better (easily the best magic in any ARPG ever. places 1-99. at least). ranged is also better. melee is OK, i can see the appeal, but i'm not a big fan of DMC-lite, 'cause i'd rather just play DMC-not-lite. controls-wise, BoD did not age very well, it's quite a bit clunkier than i remembered and although dial-a-combos are kinda crap, the locational damage and directional swings are really cool, but DaS/2 is much more fluid and "natural", weapons are much more diverse, it's more "flexible", it's definitely much more of an rpg... but it has fucking backstabs and parries :( damn it's hard to rank them :P

but yeah, no ARPG comes even remotely close to the 3 when it comes to combat mechanics. not even the same planet. W3 is still the same shit mechanics from W2. hopefully the rest will make up for it, like in W2

definetly. I had to run circles around a level 6 bear with my level one. hitting him with my sword did noting, so I had to sidestep every charge he did and ran around him until I blasted him with igni to death, which took a while sice I had to wait for the sign to recharge. But from the skills I saw theres nothing which excites me or gives me something to look forward to.

more damage more crit damage more stamina regen etc. the only thing I think I really need are the 10hp/sec out of combat and 500 more vitality for level 2 and 3 and thats it.
