Not sure about M&B, it has a fair amount of issues on its own, but as someone else already said, Jedi Academy had the best hand to hand combat in any action game, no one did anything close to it ever since, which is surprising considering how relatively simple it was.

Since I have tio restart because I was dumb enough to not click on "simulate w2 save" can people say a bit about the different difficulty settings? How does it play on Death March? Has that permadeath like w2 had?

Well if you die, you'll have to start from the last save. Not sure if it counts as permadeath... And you die in like 3 hits, which is not a big problem considering how many defensive abilities you have from the get go. I'd say Death March feels like a half-way difficulty between medium and hard in any other game, not really close to nightmare/insane or what have you.

If you played the earlier games and just lost your save, grab one from here: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/30709-(SPOILERS)The-Witcher-2-Save-Game-Files

You can freely change the difficulty level during the game, so shouldn't matter what you pick.

Nah it is not permadeath but then I did not want to play with permadeath. So Death march means one hit more then on Blood and broken bones. I will try it then, I had no problems with the fights since quen solves the issue of getting hit because I was slow.

Movement is awful in this, delayed like a motherfucker as they queue up animations on the back end.

Try the mounted combat for extra good time. :retarded:

Why oh why they didn't just rip off M&B is beyond me.

Considering how Geralt moves like a wobbly dickhead i got off that horse ASAP, and i probably ain't getting back on it.

And they know it's shit... Because you can autopilot on roads.:lol::salute:

Yeah, had to laugh at that. At least it's appropriately shitty and always seems to go for the wrong direction when you arrive at a fork in the road.

According that chart I was supposed to be in unplayable territory but I am not :

Wow, I was under the assumption that I wouldn't be able to run this game, but according to that chart im even on green.

Btw, how is the performance compared to DA:I?
A bit more demanding than DAI but not by much . I could put everything on max on DAI. Witcher 3 has more animations nad stuff going onscreen although ,much more npc activity + wind in the tree and grass.

Hmm checking now if the rollback do anything. According to the chart Mortmal posted gtx 770 should be enough for 40 fps at least
Just used frap I have 28-30 fps with a gt 560 with most stuff on, range to medium and textures to high.So its likely you are well above that.

I get the same fps as you, with some stuff on high, some stuff on normal, doesn't matter what I put it on it seems like. The game itself just runs like shit even if I can maintain that fps. It feels sluggish and jerky, like it's skipping frames or something.

Oh well. Not that impressed by the game overall. Already feeling that open world fatigue, and fighting humans is a bore. Parry, parry, block, parry, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit... will you please fucking die already. How many sword cuts can you take?! YOU DON'T EVEN WEAR ARMOUR!

:P

Edit:

And yeah, archers can shoot through trees.

There's a persistent rumor that the new NVIDIA drivers degrade performance on everything not 9XX , prior versions give a 20% boost on "ancient" cards. I am not using the latest drivers so it could be that .

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

True that. After the whole brouhaha over unresponsive controls in W2 and CDPR swearing on their mothers' graves they'll fix it....it's even fucking worse this time. You press forward and there's a half second delay. FFS.

Plus locked key binds? Rly? Why do I have to reach aaaaaall the way to M to bring up muh map?

LShift to do heavy attack was a poor piece of design. Glad to see the movement delay isn't just me, was worried I had some driver or system issue.

They played too much Rockstar's shit, hence the movement.

Default control layout is pretty retarded though.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
There would be a lot less Codex Edgyness™ against The Witcher series if the game had a big label saying "Warning, this is NOT an RPG. This is a fun ACTION GAME with some stats sprinkled on top".

It's an above-average story with some good twists and nice pixelated BEWBS, so...FUN. And Playboy once had a Triss Merigold "article", so there is that.
Actually, I had found in The Witcher that the Action gameplay was the weakest part. I don't mind action gameplay (I liked ME 2 and DX:HR), but the timing action gameplay was pretty boring.

How good is the combat in TW3?

Just found this:
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

About This Game: DreadOut is a third person supernatural horror game where you play as Linda, a high school student trapped in an old abandoned town. Equipped with her trusty smart-phone and an SLR camera, she will battle against terrifying encounters and solve mysterious puzzles which will ultimately determine her fate.
Help her overcome the challenges that will stand before her. Survive the Dread!
When a group of high school students went astray from a field trip, they came across something totally unexpected. A town long forgotten trapped in a peaceful state of slumber. What they did not realize was what lurks within. And what seemed like an innocent stroll turns into disaster as the secluded town reveals its dark and terrible secrets. The presence of sinister forces from beyond their realm of existence.

Wonderful description right?

Its the best of the series, all in all quite enjoyable combat system with some problems and a bit lacking complexity. I mean ofcourse it also sucks somehow but as there are very few good arpg combat system id still say its among the best, because there is simply no contest. Dark Souls combat system is ofcourse not even touched.

Its just a shame that it could also be so much better with a few tweaks but cdproject always limit themselves to please the casual audience.

Starting to find it really annoying, combined with the sluggish controls...

It's hard to see anything while you are in combat, you will have enemies behind you, in front of you, to the side, and for for reason you can't parry more than one attack per melee. If you try to do it more than once you will get stun-locked (ghosts are the worst offenders so far). It's all so hectic, and with limited healing it gets frustrating.

They borrowed the absolute worst part from the latest Dragon Age game - The you can only have so many health potions at any given time. So when you make a swallow potion you will get three of those, and every time you mediate they will replenish if you have alcohol. But in a dungeon this can get a bit problematic. You will have to survive on food items which takes forever to fill your health up. I'm probably getting too old for fast paced combat like this.

Apparently Geralt is so old and weak that he cannot parry a single swipe from a drowner without getting fucking stunned.

Also, check out this amazing AI.

The more i play, the more it feels like a shitty console port of a decent game. I guess it's better to drop it for now and wait for GOTY enhanced edition. By that time, some interesting mods might come out too.
