Now Jane? This is all too much. She can wait anyway. Emo chick games aren't my cup of tea and I'm sure there's enough girl gamers to fund her project anyway.

Tex Murphy or death for me.

We would love to do Gabriel Knight in the near future. Because that IP does not belong to us, it's not a given. Having our own studio, and successfully shipping a title, will make obtaining the rights more likely than ever before.

Oh fuck. I'll probably donate solely for that.

I'm *hoping* Jane get's enough money to possibly buy the rights to GK to do more GK series. THAT WOULD BE FUCKING AWESOME. Though I have no idea how complicated or how expensive that would be to buy it from Activision, AND if they would even sell it.

I'm backing this as well. The Moebeus game sound AWESOME <3

Just created a separate thread at SA for Jensen's Kickstarter. So far the replies have been mixed ("old adventure games suck", "Sierra adventure games suck", "Gray Matter sucks" -- which I can even kinda agree with, "Gabriel Knight 3 sucks", etc., but a few positive ones as well).

Yeah surprised at the.... caution of people backing this. It's at 15,000$ While Shadowrun is now at 120,000$ heh

I can understand the hesitation though.

Buying the rights, probably not going to happen. Big companies tend to be loathe to part with their properties, even if they have no plans to use them. Getting a license to make a sequel? That seems more possible.

Yeah I'm NOT a Copyright Lawyer heh so I don't know shit on the subject. But I do know, like in the case of The Bards Tale, you can buy the name right's to make a video game with that setting. And the particular stipulations on the agreement.

I more ment I'l love to see her get name and setting rights to do another GK game that is based off the previous ones. But we shall see.

Supposedly it's going to be in the vein of "Dante’s Equation and Gabriel Knight."
Sounds good to me.

What did he do Adventure Game wise that was.... noteworthy. The Dig is however fucking pure awesome.
He was the lead artist on Curse of Monkey Island, and his company created the game Vampyre Story, which I never played.

It seems some people love it, others hate it (including the protagonist's voice).
I haven't played it yet.
You can buy it for 11$ for a boxed version on amazon, 20$ for digial on adventureshop (ridiculous price for a digital version!).
It pisses me off that I don't have any big game store around here that lets me find all these cool gems in boxed versions for a cheap price.
Ok, I doubt this one is a gem, but it's probably worth more than 10$. And if we don't support our troops, how else are we going to have adventure games?

fake edit: funny review comment on amazon.co.uk
If you like Action/Tactical RPG games or most of the games that are sold today AND you have never played a classic point-and-click adventure game, you probably - I say PROBABLY - won't like this game. But for those of us who love (and still play) games like Obsidian, Grim Fandango, Blade Runner, and the Myst/Riven/Uru series of games, this one is one more to add to the stack of adventure games that are FUN. (Okay - some of the jokes ARE lame and Mona's voice IS like fingernails on a blackboard, but this is a great game nonetheless.)

Maybe he'll pitch for Vampyre 2 and includes 1 with a certain tier :)
We'll find out about what's up in the next weeks I guess.

A World's Fair Mystery is amazingly rich and full of nifty details.

Goddamnit, I wanted my 10001st post to be special, but seriously, AWFM is a damn fine game.

It is an amazing game, but you have to admit it's definitely not for everyone.
Especially people who're interested in Gemini Rue, Ben There Dan That, Time Gentlemen Please might be a bit non-plussed by a colossal historical detective interactive fiction.
Though if it even thrills 1% of the buyers, that would be nice.
