thing is it isn't only the holy codex consensus calling out TOW as the mediocre shit it is, roguey just liked the game himself

This forum hates games that appeal to broadest possible market, that's nothing new. What's wrong is the common assertion here that no one liked TOW, not even the mooing masses (turns out many of them did). :P

That shit was in Humble monthly or whatever is called now, I got it with 10 other games for 10 euro, so there are your 1 to 2 million sales.
It was bundled twice already, there was another one were the regulat edition was bundled with a bunch of space themed games.

I mean kinda, but also if you are enjoying TOW you kinda deserve some abuse
Well the joke there is that the Codex stand-in is being ignored so hard he might as well be yelling in a vacuum so I don't think it counts as "abuse".

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Guys we sold 6 gorillion copies. Take our word for it.
The 5 mil number was announced some time ago at Take Two's earnings call some time ago. I don't know why they tweeted about it now, though. Maybe some TO2 news in the near future?

They basically can't lie to their investors when it comes to how many copies they sold.

Microsoft won't shed any tears if there are positive The Outer Worlds news, considering the sequel is theirs.

I love Dragon Age: Origins. My criticism is that just as 'dexers are wont to defend obscure things due to their obscurity, you are wont to frame popularity as an argument for something's quality.

Fair enough, but is "let's make Fallout 4, but worse in every way" appealing to the broadest possible market?
Even the most middling and unexceptional of skinnerbox Bethslop is a far easier sell than anything else they made in the past decade.

Space, technically
The premise and promise of this game should have had me lining up on release day. Watched someone else play it for a few hours and fell asleep. Still haven't bought it yet, but a deep enough sale for the Switch might help with those insomniac nights.

So hell seems to have frozen over, after watching PatricianTV's videos on TOW I'm giving the game another chance and replaying it... with some heavy mods. I'm using one that increases enemy HP ten times (well it's actually less than that because it's base HP but let's not go there) and I'm also using a mod by the same author that tweaks some weapons. I'm also using companions this time.

God help me, I'm actually enjoying it. The writing is retarded, the graphics & aesthetic are dumb as fuck, the polish is non-existent... but it's actually kind of engaging once you have to, you know, play the game properly instead of one-shotting everything from minute 1. I had to use consumables to get past the first couple of enemies. Lmao.

I'm only in Emerald Vale at the moment so I'm fully expecting to get utterly bored once the novelty of experiencing some challenge in a video game wears off, but we'll see.

I keep thinking about giving it another chance but it's just too middling. Every single aspect, from the writing to the art direction to the gameplay to the music, is the definition of middling. It feels totally redundant since New Vegas is the exact same thing but better, and Bethesda games are a more interesting mix of highs and lows. TOW is just a long grey load of average sludge. It's exactly what ChatGPT, with all its filters and censors on, would come up with if asked to make a sci-fi game.

I'm struggling to remember almost any characters. There's the mad scientist guy, there's the Indian woman who follows you around the first town, the priest/doctor/whatever guy who nobody talks to, there's that business guy in that one city, there's Debra Wilson doing her usual character (which I usually like, but even a solid VA like her can't break through TOW's veil of boringness)... I can't remember anything else at all other than the hunter companion, who seemed like she was going to be fun at first (while drunk) but then sobered up and became as inoffensively boring as everyone else.

The one truly good thing TOW has given the world is Tim Cain's anecdote about how he got told off for standing up too quickly and raising his voice in excitement while writing the game.

I picked this up again a few days ago myself. It's still middling at best, but I can't believe the difference muting the voices made this time around. I feel genuinely retarded for not doing this sooner.

That's a good analogy I'd use for something like Starfield.

TOW was actively pissing me off every single second tho. Starting with the standard "all females are complex and strong while all males are either assholes or harmless" trope and the lesbian hairstyles and the typical Bay Area Dunning-Kruger idea of capitalist dystopia that looks exactly like a Cold War era Eastern European socialist hellhole and ending with the headache-inducing color palette and crushingly inept itemization and chardev.

It's the videogame equivalent of Greta Thunberg - ugly, dumb and unbearable, forcefully insisting she's smart and talented and she has something important to say to you.

Are there mods available for this game? It's UE 4/5 right? Or you just use cheat engine tables for HP values?
