I saw Atlantico posted in this thread so I opened it up just to see some shilling for the epic game store.

Do I screenshot your autistic button pressing spree on my profile or is this the apex of the Steamtards ability to debate and justify his infantile and autistic scree?
I rate only legitimately retarded posts retarded (and there's plenty there in the majority of your contributions), I don't seek out unrelated things you've written across the entire forum like a triggered chimpanzee flinging poo, besides I only need to remove and reapply the rating to a single one of your posts for you to go on a butthurt retaliatory rating spree on 6+ posts like a trained monkey.

Make the Codex Great Again!

By an amazing coincidence, so do I!

(and there's plenty there in the majority of your contributions)

Also by a crazy coincidence, so are yours!

I don't seek out unrelated things you've written across the entire forum like a triggered chimpanzee flinging poo

Justifying an autistic rating spree because I don't give a shit about the Steam platform, is the very definition of getting triggered like a chimpanzee flinging poo.

PS. I'm not removing mine, and I don't care that you remove yours. As I said, yours are well deserved, I don't rate anything out of spite - only legitimately retarded posts.

Anyway, the Epic store's exclusivity is clearly a bad thing. Say what you will about shitty middlemen, and I'll probably agree with you. But exclusivity is anti-competitive, bad for consumers, and bad for the industry in the long run.

Also the Epic client is a data miner for the Chinese. Kind of like how Google is literally supplying the Chinese military with all its cutting edge AI technology while refusing to participate with the Pentagon... not really related, but there's your trivia for the day.

Or do most Chinese make the impression of living in misery to you? Those I talked to all seemed pretty happy, and rather amused by some "western" concerns...

:nocountryforshitposters:

exclusivelygames.com
‘Call of Cthulhu’ Campaign Books Destroyed by Chinese Government
  • All physical copies of the books have been destroyed.
  • Chinese government complained of “sensitive issue.”
  • Developers will reprint books and complete their delivery.
Printing books in China is a fairly common practice among publishers looking to save on costs, though not without its trade-offs, the most obvious of which is delayed delivery to Western markets. Another potential drawback to these cheaper printing costs is that the Chinese government might decide to completely destroy your product.

Epic CEO:

He's using the "pornographic" term as a coy, blanket smear to gain moral approval. Judging by Chinese standards, should they apply, could just mean any game with an R18+ rating will be censored, or rejected. "Shock content" could just as easily be applied to something like Alien: Isolation - if Call of Cthulhu is a "sensitive issue" where does it stop?

Apparently every other distributor, according to Sweeney, is part of "the porn business" - because developers have more creative freedom through them. Ok Tim.

Epic is a nanny store.

Well, I could certainly live without stores trying to sell me "Hentai Puzzle" game no. 5-33453... so I'm all for a curated store, as long as the curation is quite as extreme as for GOG.
Honestly cannot even use the Discovery Queue in Steam any more, not only because the amount of Hentai, but because of the amount of just crappy games, asset flips, etc. Allowing everything on your store is a mistake.

You're also twisting words left and right to make them fit into your "China bad! Epic bad!" narrative.
What Sweeney meant with porn is porn and with shock content stuff like Hatred or that rape game (though that probably fit both categories and even Steam banned it).
And what he meant with "any other way" is not "every other store does porn" (because obviously they don't), but just that there are enough other ways to sell those games.
At least when you interpret his words in a somewhat sensible way and not trying to spin some crazy narrative.

And yeah, that book destruction is hilarious. Though very foreseeable. Come on, look at the pictures in the ExclusivelyGames article and think a bit if you'd expect those to be allowed in China.
Really shouldn't have tried to print THAT in China.
All it takes is one random inspector coming in, seeing the images, and not caring if they are even meant for the Chinese market or not. Censorship in China is very random and arbitrary, everyone knows that.

Agree with asset flips, they need to be more like GoG in that regard. As for Hentai, it's just plain trash, and can be seen a mile away. Who cares? If you're an adult I'm not sure why it would bother you just being there. If you have kids, use Steam's age restriction controls - maybe even enable them for yourself. What is so hard?

No twisting of words necessary.

Yes, both removed from Steam. So what else is he talking about then? Boobs?

...A burning tower, a demon...people with guns - pretty standard...oh some boobs...

...ok so China and Timbo both don't like boobs?

Yes, China bad. Epic bad.

(Taiwan good )

The problem is that these games take away what little time in the spotlight there is for actual games.
I brought up the example of the Discovery Queue for a reason, I used to discover A LOT of games through that. But ever since the floodgates were opened, it's become mostly unusable. I just don't have the patience to wade through so much crap.
And yes, you can exclude certain tags, but that's not a real solution, either. For example, take "Adult Content" - I'm not generally opposed to that, I'm fine with seeing some boobs or dicks in my game, if it fits (see Witcher, etc.). Same with "VR" - I don't give much about that gimmick, but excluding the tag would also exclude games that just happen to also have a VR version...
Exactly the same with new games list, recently updated, etc.

No twisting of words necessary.

That is exactly what I mean with twisting of words.
Why would you even think he is talking about "something else"? He talked about pornographic and shock content, and those are just that, not more. You won't see games like Witcher that show the occasional boob or games that show blood banned from EGS - at least the western version of the store. In the Chinese equivalent, who knows - but that will be the same with Steam once their "China only" client is done.

Also, Hatred is NOT removed from Steam.

Lol. What a statement.

That's your problem, and again, it's not unstable - you can easily use filter tools to get by that. But why the hell do you rely on an algorithm to find "what you like", rather than reading/watching videos & deciding for yourself?
That is exactly what I mean with twisting of words. Why would you even think he is talking about "something else"? He talked about pornographic and shock content, and those are just that, not more.
Because those are very loose terms, yet not so much with the investors atmosphere. As you say, Steam is getting a "Chinese Equivalent" - Epic seem much more focused on a universal client, with censorship standards mirroring that. They clearly don't want to be a competitor, as they show zero concern for the consumer with the lackluster client, saying "the consumer has no say here", why would you say that to a customer base, unless you had other motivation? Now it's becoming clear how they feel for developers. A bigger cut, sure, because they want to enforce restrictions on design obviously - it won't last.
Also, Hatred is NOT removed from Steam.
It is. Valve only has to keep it available to people who paid for it during the release. It's unlisted for everyone else.

I never paid for Hatred, and I can access the page and buy it:
Ah my bad. Seem to remember them removing it after public outrage and releasing a some silly statement like "we don't condone this" - lol, no shit, you need to say that about all fiction? So they put it back...meh

The boss came down from his ivory tower to put the game back: https://www.vg247.com/2014/12/17/gabe-newell-apologises-for-pulling-hatred-from-steam-greenlight/

Valve’s Gabe Newell has apologised to Hatred developer Destructive Creations for the removal of the game from Steam Greenlight and has subsequently brought it back to the service.

Below is Newell’s statement as seen on Destructive Creations’ Facebook page.

“Hi, Jaroslaw.

“Yesterday I heard that we were taking Hatred down from Greenlight. Since I wasn’t up to speed, I asked around internally to find out why we had done that. It turns out that it wasn’t a good decision, and we’ll be putting Hatred back up. My apologies to you and your team. Steam is about creating tools for content creators and customers.

“Good luck with your game.”

Reposting from the Obsidian forums: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/108935-the-outer-worlds-wont-launch-on-steam/?p=2149504

So here's a new thing. Ubisoft's Anno 1800 has just gone Epic-exclusive, but in an interesting twist, they'e continuing to sell the game on Steam as a pre-order until its release date: https://store.steamp...6440/Anno_1800/

My first thought is, wow, how greedy. Juicing up pre-orders from Epic-hating players desperate to have the game on Steam.

But my second thought is...hey, that's not a bad compromise actually.

It's a long shot, but it may be worth trying to apply community pressure on Obsidian, Microsoft and Private Division to demand a similar arrangement from Epic. Why does Ubisoft get this perk to reduce fan backlash and they don't?

No, you get it on release day. It's like a delayed exclusivity that starts right after the game launches.
