Characters feel... one-dimensional and cliche as far as animu goes. for now.
a moe, tsundere, Rei and... well, the big sister valkyrie going Gutts on gargoyle and cutting it's head clean off was good.

Guess shiet being high school and 3D makes it harder for me. Their portraits are so much better than 3D dollies

One thing is sky's portraits and sprites work pretty well despite its resolution. Compared to that, cold steel aged worse, the character models, animation, etc ismt really on par with other 3d rpgs.

Glad gameplay and writing, trails are still league above most jrpg

Well, I agree the Sky games have their charm but I think Durante did remarkable work with Steel - especially the lighting.

As you say, the quality of the gameplay - and the twists and turns in the main story - more than make up for it.

Version 1.2 beta now available - release notes

Since this version has a few more significant under-the-hood changes, I have decided to release it as a public beta first to see if any new issues crop up.

Version 1.2 contains bug fixes, optimizations and a very frequently requested feature: autosaves!

This release is currently available in the BETA branch "version_1.2_beta" (see below for information on how to access the betas tab), and includes the following changes:

Bug fixes

• Fix repeated keypresses at high (unlocked) framerates.
  Input should now behave as expected up to at least 250 FPS.
  
• Fix some minor text/linebreak issues (more to come!).
  
• Fix one potential cause for sporadic crashes on some systems.
  
• [Japanese version] Fix button prompt setting not applying to Japanese version (all prompts should now be correct, but the explanatory notes are not yet handled)

Optimization

• Improved the performance of the Depth of Field implementation, especially with MSAA.
  (basic DoF should be improved by around 10% with 4xMSAA, high quality DoF should be improved by up to a factor of 3)

New Features:

• Added Autosaves. The autosave interval can be configured in the launcher.
  
• Added a "Quit Game" option to the main menu
  (though why would you want to quit?

If you encounter any new issues with this version, you can revert to the previous version (1.1) by right-clicking the game in your Steam library, selecting "Properties", then selecting the "BETAS" tab, and chosing "version_1.1" in the drop-down menu.

finished CS, was dope. Rean is well boring, but most of the others were better than I was expecting. combat was greatly improved by turbo mode. I don't mind the quartz/arts change, and I liked finding the gud quartz.

what's the word on CS2? is it already planned, dependent on good sales, or no real mention of anything?

time to finish my long on hold trails SC playthrough and then get into the third I guess.

Looks more like certain other character who should also be dead. (Sort of) bringing back a dead character with a mask is of course similar to Loewe in TiTS 3rd, assuming it is who I think it is

I am very, very unhappy with new quarts/arts system. It almost lacks customisation. It was way better when you could set spells with quarts points. It means there's little differnce between orbments as well and crafts are more important now. Like Ron Weasley healbot bitch for example makes battles more trivial than any other character. Or Fie who acts thrice per turn spamming slowing aoe.

On the other hand, they polished combat to the point that even grinding same monsters on the road with catchy music doesn't bother me.

What's good about Lenin revolutionare btw? He is just like Alisa, but his shell restores mana which is okay, but Alisa has spellcaster's ATS and restores craft points and has self-resurrect. I guess he's like Tita with his aoe shot but Tita was cute and his damage seems really lacking compared to Tita's cannon.

What's good about Lenin revolutionare btw? He is just like Alisa, but his shell restores mana which is okay, but Alisa has spellcaster's ATS and restores craft points and has self-resurrect. I guess he's like Tita with his aoe shot but Tita was cute and his damage seems really lacking compared to Tita's cannon.

He is the least useful character IMO. He does get a craft similar to Schera where he can advance other characters' turns but that's his only useful trait. Alisa is a much better support character.

CS2 was announced together with 1 so it shouldn't be far off, i assume Durante will start on it when he's finished supporting CS1, port shouldn't take that long considering it's the same engine as 1 (as far as i know) so they have most of it ironed out allrdy, end of the year or early next year are probably a good guess on the release date.

The only Trails game without hidden quests is Tits the 3rd afaik.

I suspected as much but reading solution on game you play first time is not what I like to do, while running around same location every chapter asking janitor if he has a quest to watch paint dry did not appeal to me either
But that's just JRPGs for u

Considering his status, they really make Rean into immigrant worker while his own instructor just hits booze all the time

Well at least I'll spend this part with two my favorite waifus hating each other, yay

Well, I agree the Sky games have their charm but I think Durante did remarkable work with Steel - especially the lighting.

As you say, the quality of the gameplay - and the twists and turns in the main story - more than make up for it.

Durante can't do much about the kinda ugly character models (Seriously, some PS2 games look better) and kinda awful animations.

Jusis is probably the best party member in CS, development wise. Sadly, everyone else is kinda crippled by the S.Link mechanic.

I dont get people who says tits the 3rd is not important.

It basically explain alot of barely touched things in cold steel 1.

Heck if i dont play , i feel like i am missing alot of vital informational lore. It is still not important to the main plot, but really give alotcof info on why bracer guild isnt present in erebonia and other stuff.

Heck, i am curious how will 3rd foreshadow calvard arc. We know gambler jack exist, and probably will play a big part in there (because they even have a portrait, a full body onr that is, which is too much for a cameo of in game book character)

also the thing with zane returning to Calvard and kilik handing the intelligence branch ofcthe army and stuff
