When Joel wakes up, he finds Marlene and what remains of the Boston Fireflies at the hospital. Ellie was successfully revived but was immediately taken for research on Marlene's order, which will possibly create a vaccine for the infection, as Joel finds out at Marlene's disclosure. Marlene also tells Joel that in order to fully reverse engineer the fungus for a vaccine, the doctors must remove the fungus from Ellie's brain, which will result in certain death. Upon hearing this, Joel begins to protest for her. Marlene disregards him, however, saying that he is not in a position to make decisions and that her decision to sacrifice Ellie will save millions.

She spares Joel's life, but Joel, determined not to lose his new "daughter" like he lost Sarah, escapes and tortures his Firefly guard Ethan to find out the location of the operating room.[42] He battles his way through the facility and brings Ellie out.

At the hospital parking garage, Marlene corners Joel, who threatens him with a pistol. She tries to persuade him that it's pointless to run; Ellie will die anyway as he can't protect her. She lets her guard down as Joel considers this, willingly letting him decide Ellie's fate. She moves closer to him and reaches for Ellie. Despite this offer, Joel shoots Marlene in the abdomen, leaving her on the floor grievously wounded, firmly deciding he'd rather save Ellie than save humanity. Before killing Marlene, Joel secures Ellie in a car. Marlene begs for her life, but Joel coldly refuses, fearing that she will only pursue them if she survives. He shoots her point-blank in the head, leaving her behind as he flees with Ellie.[43]

Joel delivers Ellie out of the city, heading for "home" at Tommy's. To spare her from feeling survivor's guilt he lies to her by telling her immunity meant nothing. Ellie is greatly dismayed when she hears this. The two finally reach Tommy's Dam, where Joel remarks that they can return to their normal life. Unable to cross through the main road due to the truck breaking down, they detour into the woods. Walking through the woods, he tells her that he used to hike with Sarah, believing the pair would have "been good friends". Eventually, Ellie confronts Joel and questions him whether what he tells her is true. Joel replies, "I swear", leaving a doubting Ellie to her own belief.[44]

Joel the hero, I still can't believe Cuckmamn dismantled this beautiful role model and made a fanfiction based on... the events of the first game.

Havent played either game so what ive gleaned of the story is from this thread and the luls contained.

How does a group that can be defeated by one man hope to be able to 1. mass produce a synthesised vaccine/cure and 2. deploy said mass produced vaccine/cure to millions? What manpower do they have at their disposal? If its enough to go out and deploy the vaccine/cure how did one man managed to hardfuck their research station? What logistics would they be able to call upon to accomplish this and why wasnt it employed in hunting down Ellie to make a cure in the intervening years? What magical asspull videogame logic turns this seemingly weak and enfeebled team of scientists into some great big conglomeration of saviours outside of cloning or robotics? I know, game logic so who really cares, magic shit and plot armor but seriously, how?

It seems like, probably because of the necessity of having a win state, in most post-apoc games there is a global or widespread cure/solution to the problem, whether it's finding a cure for a virus or supplying water to everyone. It's this genre's equivalent of saving the land or world from the evil empire in fantasy games, in terms of scope. But in the movies I can recall, if there is any solution at all, it's local, like a small group of survivors going getting away from one place to a much safer place. That includes Romero's Dead trilogy, The Road Warrior, Thunderdome, the 28 ____ Later series, Snowpiercer, The Road, Children of Men (there is a suggestion of a possible solution, but it's vague, left up in the air). As always, I'm sure there are exceptions; I've never seen Waterworld or The Postman. On the game side you have Cataclsym DDA, in which there is no indication things can be mended, you just survive until you don't.

I dunno, just something I thought of.

It's a small group and there would be no possibility they would be mass-producing millions of doses and rescuing all remaining civilization.

Realistically it just benefits members of their own faction, which at most is a few hundred people. Immunity isn't some magic fix either, it doesn't mean somebody can't be killed by infected, it just means they cannot become infected if exposed.

So, I've read the plot of the game, and saw the main scenes in the game on Youtube. I admit I liked the first game very much, and think that Joel was a great characer.

After all the shit that is happening in the second part, there is one thing that breakes the game for me and it makes me not want to play it. That in the end Elli just thinks that after all the mass murdering, she wants to stop the violance and spares Abby. Fuck. You. I don't care what the game wants me to do. After seeing how brutally Joel was murdered, I just want one thing in the end. To get revenge on her. And the game even misses this one point. You can't expect me to suddenly think that the violance in the game is bad, when all through the game we are murdering people without any remorse. If you want me to believe this, then make non-violent options available in the game.

I wonder how many people would have willingly chosen that option if the players were actually given a choice

Sure, but at least there would be an option and you can choose. And I think seeing how people flipped out about this, I think many of them would have just murdered the bitch.

Druckmann just attacked people who sent threats to Abby's voice actress fans

lol dude shouldn’t be surprised. How can you write something that’s meant to evoke hate and then be butthurt when that’s the exact response people have over your game?
Imagine being this obsessed with fictional characters
You mean literally killing them so your selfinsert would be noticed?

Look at this dumb fucking pseudo-intellectual thinking that just because the "game" is subverting expectations for the sake of subversion and leading a LINEAR story only to fizzle out at the end makes it somehow a thing for "grown-ups". There's nothing "mature" about this, just because something makes you feel sad doesn't mean it's mature.
Compare it to PS:T where at the end TNO dies and goes to hell (tee-hee, spoilers, but an ending way more depressing than tlou 2's flaccid dick). The difference being the game clearly lead up to that point and the player (provided he has an IQ above amoeba's level) starts to piece together that the ending won't be flowers and sunshine really early.
What cuckmannnnn did was make a murder gore porn for himself and his fellow degenerates with an unsatisfying ending and tardos think that's somehow very mature and oh how video games should take note. "Revenge bad" badly played out on the bodies of hundreds on nobodies.

Can you fucking imagine the end of Max Payne, Max walking over to the big bad bitch, hugging her tightly and softly whispering "I forgive you"?

Anyway even if the game was supposed for the +28 game audience (dumb move anyway) It was delivered by someone that burnt his own brain cells in drug parties with Anita.

Also keep in mind that Neil will club you to death if you save him, spit on your corpse and wants to be buttfucked by Owen because the whole Abby group Is Neil himself, he would have voiced all lines if his health was fine. You need brain cells to separate yourself from your characters.

This would actually have made it more like Splinter Cell(apart from the abortion of Conviction) or AP, where you could avoid killing everyone except the targets. I liked that option as I would play Sam as a kind of cynical 'patriot' grudgingly doing what he has to but knowing his own side is pretty bad themselves(the dialogue in the game backs it up when he questions the need to shoot characters and makes a sarcastic comment about torture), and avoid killing.

Thornton in AP is even more developed where the dialogue and relationship with your handlers is different depending on whether you go full genocide or not and even better, you have dialogues that cut off certain options if you have acted in a different way than expected by the other party in the buildup! It's not totally like a Bioware choice where you can play good or bad 99% of the game then switch allegiance at the end. FFS this is a janky Obsidian game from 2010 and it still does this type of C&C reactivity better than anything else!

Ellie was supposed to be after revenge, but even early on she flips out after killing the pregnant woman so why is there no option for non-violent/non-lethal in the game? It would then actually make more sense to have to be railroaded into letting Abby go as I cannot understand the reasoning in game where a character only kills 100% every person they come across to then decide that 'killing is bad 'mkay, won't bring Joel back' right at the end. It's terrible on so many levels. Not giving you a final choice is worst, but even no choice would be better if you could play the game differently up until that point.

Yes, this game is an obvious attempt to shore up the lack of actual creativity by trying to troll the average nerdy male gamer who will get predictably butthurt by this and therefore give it more undue attention.

HOWEVER, every meathead who buys a yearly sports game, or god forbid pays micro-transactions to unlock different athletes or teams or w/e, is doing far, far worse damage to the games industry as a whole than controversy-bait like this game.

There's a huge misconception in this thread and it's that Abby is the most disgusting character in the game. ???She??? is not. Ellie attempting to fuck the jewess while holding a mutt baby in her arms is ten times filthier than the infamous backstab.
After the murder of Joel there comes of course the inevitable "plot twist" and Abby turns out to be indeed a Trier-level exaggeratedly good character: ???she??? is absurdly kind, caring and loyal. Abby spares Ellie's life three times, and it's Ellie who always acts like a psycho, being obnoxiously petty -among all the sins of the game, that's the absolute worst: how Ellie's character has been destroyed. She's now just a retarded tomboy whose only trait is being your run-of-the-mill socially awkward Californian-production character and has an amygdala twice times larger than her prefrontal cortex, absolutely hateful.
You already know about Abby biting off two fingers out of Ellie, well, now consider that Abby at that point had just been released from a crucifixion (crux simplex ad affixionem) ???she??? endured for days after months of torture and is carrying in ???her??? malnourished arms a teenager transgender gook girl (kid you not) to a boat in order to flee from this madness and it's just then that Ellie threatens to murder the kid forcing Abby to fight after ???her??? repeated refusals to do so -and know that at this point Abby had had the chance to kill both Ellie and Tommy twice, even after they murdered all ???her??? friends and decided not to out of moral disgust.
So I reckon your hatred is misguided, the big issue is not Abby taking revenge but the absolute clusterfuck of writing that turned charming witty Ellie into a thoroughly disgusting character that acts like a bitch to Joel all the time and is always bitter, dull and uninteresting, while this forcibly inserted ???tranny??? (after watching the movie-game I really don't know what to think, as in spite of the monster looks the voice is very feminine and soothing) is ridiculously good and sacrifices everything to help the children. Top kek, absolute hack job of subpar fan fiction that gets everything wrong about the characters. 10/10 mature masterpiece.
