Hm, explain this to me? How so? And what was the previous system, then? You could pick your own enemies at the arena any time, and there was no "gimme a random battle" thing? Kinda curious, never tried GW 1 PvP.

No idea what DR means with "matchmaking".
GW PVP had randomly selected enemies in Random and Team arenas (never played any other PVP).
In Random you'd start with a random team and fight against another randomly put together team. If you win, you keep your team for the next match. If you win 10 times in a row you enter the Team arenas. In those people put together specific teams with strategies and stuff (too much effort for ol' lttle me).
So there was "matchmaking". Perhaps the new one is dependant on player skill with rankings or something...?
More info, DR. I don't see what the big deal is with matchmaking.

if it follows gw1 testing structure, the beta will be open stress test periods, and the actual testing is a closed alpha which is already happening.

New video up... Unfortunately, in game-model form, Asuras are still way too cutesy for me. I really hope my girlfriend doesn't want to play Asura. She likes cats, so I'm slowly propagandizing her towards the Charr...

There's a lot of variation on Asura models. Some look more monstrous, others more cute. I guess it's so everyone gets served.

Looks pretty cool actually.

I can feel the light sources and shaders lowering my fps already

I also see that they now have technological transparent bridge technology which should offset the transparent blocky spirit bridge monopoly of the first game

also I love the scale and buildings and all but I better not have to go three flights of stairs and across five bridges to get to my shit no matter how pretty everything is on the way

you can instaport to waypoints if you find walking through a large city tiresome.
