Everytime I see you guys rage about Elder Scrolls and Howard I can't help but imagine a wine connoisseur raging at how sheeple usually drink coke instead of wine.

the difference here is that the coke is marketed as quality wine and the fans say it is an evolution of your favorite $5000 white wine which tastes like shit anyway you fucking nostalgic wine flavor faggot why do you hate people who drink alcohol

then a 40 year old man who drinks both coke and wine comes in and says hahahahaha fuckers I drink both and they make my brian happy what do you think about that ps I am buying a new coke rack

there may also be another person who drinks 7 cartons of the new coke and writes a long review declaring how utterly terrible it is as a drink and he can't believe anyone would like it

1) Wine is more expensive than coke. This is not the case here.

2) Good games and bad games are more akin to good wine vs. bad wine.

3) I love crossaints.

Looks like it's shaping up to be the best Elder Scrolls game yet. Should put Borringwind and Daggerfail to shame.

Both them and the PC are untrained, generic humanoids, but somehow the PC is able to take 3 of them on at a time.

You believe that being "Level 1" means that the only reason the PC isn't farming the land with the locals is because he's holding a sword instead of a hoe, but I don't see it that way. PCs in TES are a blank slate, but at least you know they were already adventurers before the game starts. Remember how the Census Office guy asks you about your class? "I'm an Assassin....well, I never really killed anyone, but you get the point".

Except attackfighter is right.

TES >=3 is built around unified character system, so level one is pretty much the base template for all characters of given class, bandits are generally adventurous, so they don't qualify for any exceptions AND TES V did away with initial builds altogether, meaning PC should suck by default since his every skill is on baseline 'clueless fuck' level.

If you want to make the initial character stronger, he should start on higher level, or, in case of level-less system, with higher starting stats/skills.

Also, assassin + in prison != never killed anyone.

So he was born in prison?

God you are retarded. What he is saying is that just because an assassin is in prison doesn't mean he never killed anyone. I have no idea where you got the "born" part but it's idiotic.

Starting skill levels depend on race.

Yes, with the right race you can be slightly less clueless to almost competent.

I fail to see what point any of you are making. Yes, Bethesda is making it easy so that starting from ground zero your character is more competent than in past ES games, where rats and imps can kick your ass. A Skeleton from Daggerfall != Skeleton from Oblivion. Sure, there is a difficulty modifier but I'd prefer they balance the game from the start without the player HAVING to change the difficult to VERY HARD to make the game feel like a NORMAL challenge.

HA-HA, TAKE THAT POINTDEXTER! AND WE'RE DEFINITELY FUCKING GIRLS, REAL GIRLS TOO! HA-HA!

Apparently they have lured Jim Cummings to do some voicework. I guess that could be considered an :incline: of sorts.

http://www.ripten.com/2011/08/25/one-ho ... ands-on/3/

I walked up to one man with a drink in his hand. As I approached he looked up at me and in a guff voice said, “What can I do for you, traveler?” I recognized the voice immediately. It was Jim Cummings. I nearly cried. In fact, I called Todd Howard over to confirm. “Jim Cummings!” I said “I’m a huge fan of his I love that he’s in the game!”

The rest of the preview is the usual cockeyed fapfest where everything is pure awesome and then some.

The problem is that if your character, at ground zero, can rape three other NPCs simultaneously, then you have a problem.

Does skill system allow for negative skill levels?

And it absolutely never ever occured to you that the NPCs might be using a different xp system?

What problem? People will feel awesome from the get go and Bethesda will get more sales. What's the problem exactly?
