Ugh, this healing without any healing spells is getting on my nerves now. The potions is not enough, not on hard anyway. For some reason my mage, and my range guy has a tendency to close in on
targets and get caught up in aoe damage constantly. I don't understand how you are supposed to tank in this game, well bosses at least. My tank has to drink potions every 3 seconds to stay alive, leaving nothing
for the others in the team. And since my main guy is a warrior with a two-hander.. he is basically fucked. I mostly just stand behind and watch, because I can't risk him taking damage as well. It's a cluster-fuck beyond anything I have
experience before in a rpg.

And with this system, will there be any lengthy dungeon-crawls? How will that work?

From what I read there are no dungeons. I even found one "dungeon" on the Hinterlands map and it was like 4 rooms long with one combat encounter. Everything in this game is wilderness focused. There aren't even any big cities.

later on there are dungeons and shit like lost temples, catacombs etc. What i really like about them is they are pitch-black. You have no source of light you aint see shit. Similar to Dragns Dogma. I wish there were usable lantern:cry:

No, as it has 'upgrades', which are basically parts you can add to your weapons/armors. You can either craft those or find/buy them. They are more or less like runes (and some upgrades are runes), except that slots for those are really in every weapons/armors.

My guess is your LPs people didn't think about looking at the different tabs the sellers have, or else they would have seen them.

Not sure about boots, but you can add gloves/sleeves to your body armour as a crafting option. You can even name the individual parts, leading to an amusing situation where your sword has a hilt with its own name.

For those of you who actually know what you're talking about and have experienced the game with some genuine interest and explored a good lot of the game's itemisation:

What makes Loot and itemisation interesting in this game - As in, what Loot and Itemisation events occur that make you feel excited?

I just crafted big two-handed sword for my Reaver Inquisitor. Called it DRAGONDILDO. It even has pink glow thanks to runes i put in it.:M

But converting that expression into english, what you're saying is that the looting and itemisation are good because you can make anything that you want rather than wait for a good drop and that the harvesting of the craft materials plus the act of crafting your masterpiece is equal to the joy of simply lifting up a chest-lid at the end of a boss fight and finding a Sword of Greater Dildo?

Sidenote: all my efforts to create a wiked toon face ( spent al least 10 minutes longer than the usual 10 seconds) in game he has female - ish features.

Loot is pretty damn rare in that game, so what i look for the most are schematics for better weapons/armors, as you aren't going to find good stuff reliably.

What i like finding is +stats gear (adding stats is hard in this game) and 'guardbreaking' gear.

Much greater?
I mean, finding a good weapon after a boss fight seems like a given and not really earned. Having to find schematics and hoarding crafting ingredients so that you can make your gear is much more rewarding.

Because Varric will always have Bianca, there is no dilemma of weapon choice. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I'm asking, on an excitement level, how this compares to deliberating between finding a Crossbow of Speed and finding a Crossbow of Impact, as a loot and itemisation induced area of game-interest.

Now this is a very telling statement, because Loot is not rare, people are complaining about having to stop every few yards to loot stuff. So by Loot you do know exactly what I mean and you agree it's rare, in fact not just rare, but pretty damn rare, but it does exist.

Yes, killing a boss = reward, that's pretty much the flat-out definition of reward. If you do not view killing a boss as reward-worthy then I have no idea what RPG planet you're on. Looting schematics and hunting down ingredients is a completely different kind of reward, that's rewarding someone's patience stamina. To me, that's more Minecraft than RPG, for example.

Biowares actually believes they managed to make a top-tier game. Whether they did or not, well..

That's a Plants vs Zombies reference, which is actually a fun little game about planting a garden that defends your house from zombie hordes. Sunflowers are used to gather sun energy that lets you grow your army. It even has zombie dolphins. :D

No, this isn't the The Witcher: Eternal Fire. You can only play as what Bioware considers to be a goody two-shoes character (aka a dumb doormat), there isn't even slightly draconian choices you can make. They only named it Inquisition because they thought it sounded cool, no heresies to hunt are to be found in this game and no torture either. It's a shame, a Mozgus type character could be so much fun to play as if done by the right devs. I'd like to see Obsidian do something like that one day.

Hell, the game might have been worth playing if you could execute your companions for being filthy degenerates then play solo and burn down villages to exterminate magi; but you can't do that. I thought they were marketing this as an RPG? I'm pretty sure that Skyrim and even Dragon's Dogma (an action game) had evil choices to make. ie

Sacrifice your beloved to make the scary dragon go away rather than fighting it like a man

You do realize that BioWare now has two games worth of metadata? Only 6.78% of players chose predominantly "evil" actions in Dragon Age Origins and only 9.42% of players chose predominantly "evil" actions in Dragon Age 2. There's just no justification for resources being spent on evil choices when players only want to pick good ones.

You do find hand placed weapons. For example you get one big fucking stone hammer if you do quest where you have to kill leader of Avars?It has nice stats but you can modify it with weapon parts(pommel/hilt) that you craft/find and you can put different runes. There are also schematics to buy/find in the game that lets you craft special items. As far as i know you can craft almost any armor that you see on enemies provided that you have proper schematic. You can also mix up armor parts and craft armor for your warrior to look like one of rogues restricted armors if you like the look of that particular armor. Runes/weapon parts can give you bonuses to your stas/health/evasion chance etc or additional elemental damage or have chance to paralyze/stunn enemies etc. Standard shit.

There are common drops and some rare items that drop from bosses/champion mobs. There is perk for Inquisitor that lets you import rare materials to your Skyhold.

I was using hand crafted axe for first 8 hours but than found on some undead boss old qunari sword which i modified with shit and runes.

For example to unlock Reaver specialisation you have to first find and invite trainer to Skyhold. He than gives you guideline how to become one. You need to get 20 common items that drops from couple different mobs that spawns in Crestwood. Its rather big location with couple different zones and those mobs are to be found only in those 3 particular zones. You also need to get 3 rare items that drop from "champion" mobs. Those are reavers like the one you want to become. They wander on the roads in Crestwood and have some tough bodyguards. After that you need dragons blood for ritual. So once you buttfuck proper dragon and gather all needed materials you initiat ceremony. Its irreversible decision. Also you need to either find someone who will tell you more about reavers or go to market in Orlais and find and buy book explaining shit.
To become champion for example one of the task is to win 4 duels in Orlais capital. Templar needs to make his own phylacterium etc.
