Taurus Demon was easy as cake, but that fucker down at the bottom of the tower just before is an invincible piece of iron.

Well, just gave it a good try now that the controllers are working and am still trying to adapt to the controllers.
There seems to be a lot of moves I'm never going to use (Heavy blow? kicks? jumping blows?) but this is definitely more fun than skyrim

What the fuck are gifts though? Which are shit, which are OP?

Just a starting equipment bonus.

Master Key lets you take a few early shortcuts that generally lead to high level areas which will probably rape you (but also give you really nice equipment). Usually the better pick, though you can buy it later.

Anyone have a problem where the game runs either 30fps or like 10fps with no discernable reason for the drops? I can load from my save game and it will be 30fps, play for 10 minutes, die and return to the same spot I was at originally except it now is 10fps. This is bizarre and annoying as hell. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with DSFix or not, but I didn't set any crazy settings or anything.

It seems like the FPS drops are completely random.

Master key is great, twin humanities, divine blessing and binoculars are shit.
Note that From Software are lazy fucks and the description of the "Tiny Being" ring is STILL wrong! It gives you more health, not health regeneration...

And, I HATE those 2 archers in Anor Londo... they and the well filled with rolling skelletons are pure FUCK YOU momments...

Yeah. I get it while staring at a few particular walls, even though giant rooms with huge bosses aren't doing anything.

Running around the undead parish, killed an armored boar, killed some knight skeletons and some wizard/priest skeleton, fought some big statue thing in some basement but didn't kill it yet.

Bloom's coming off the rose a bit for me now. Even though I like the exploration I'm not really enjoying the combat. Losing interest in playing.

I have to ask: is combat in this game all about rolling around or will I get later some more interesting options, like summoning stuff or ranged powerful magic or will I be able to beat bosses with my sturdy shield and sword?

Because right now I have finished asylum and its complete and utter shit, locking an enemy and rolling around him.

Decided to buy the pc version. It does look better than console version with the mod installed. I just hope we'll get a proper keyboard/mouse control scheme soon, until then I'm using xbox pad.

I'd forgotten what a vicious beast the Capra Demon is. One second after I enter the fog first thing I see is this big goat motherfucker with giant machetes charging straight at me. Didn't last 10 seconds.

Havel the Rock, right? He hits hard, but he's also very slow. Just remove all your armor so you'll move fast as possible, and dodge his slow ass attack with a well-timed roll. He'll be lined up for an easy backstab. Should only take 6 or 7 hits.

So is this Gothic 1 terribad interface yet still playable, or KB/M unplayable?
I've witnessed some horrid kb/m controls on console ports before, but the one in Dark Souls is really something. Without a gamepad it's pretty much unplayable, at least for me.

Depends on your build. If you build for it, you can get a fatass shield and block your way through almost anything. Magic is definitely viable too, though I don't think there's any summoning spells. You will have to roll to avoid some shit though, especially if you try and half ass the defensive build and stop as soon as you can block the current enemies.

Asylum is the dumbfuck tutorial. Undead Burg is like the first actual level, and pretty easy. After that real enemies start to show up and steadily get nastier, and there's more interesting stuff to find/do/fight. I'd say about halfway through the game (fucking Ornstein) is where things finally reach full difficulty. But even then, shit depends on your build and playstyle. What is easy for a sword n spear can be a nightmare for a mage or archer, and vice versa.

I hear things like story and dialogue are pretty much non-existent in this. I hate dungeon crawlers, so why should I bother with this?

Same scenario for me, losing interest too.

Maybe it says more about me than the game, but I'm finding it hard enough that it's becoming more frustrating than fun. I can see why people like it, but replaying the same sections over and over gets old very quickly. I don't think I'll give up yet but it's wearing thin pretty quickly; the trial-and-error gameplay isn't really my thing, I guess. That and I'll openly admit that I suck at it. I like to play games to chill out and relax, not rage and want to punch a hole in the monitor.

I got raped by the goat motherfucker and so far I'm liking it. I'm playing blind and using a +5 double handed sword, the gargoyles went down in like 4 hits but I don't know how I'll stop the goat and his dogs, will really need a shield I think.

I play in windowed mode and that same problem disappeared. Use the cursorlock program to avoid clicking anywhere but in-game.

Edit: I'm playing kb+mouse, not too bad it's just very ugly because of the mouse deceleration that makes the camera jerky, other than that it's obviously playable.

Disconnects make me lose the orb? Fuck that.

Found my first cheater. Had 65535 health, regenned it all instantly if i hit him. I just stood on a bridge and didn't let him pass. He couldn't break my shield

EDIT: trololololol. These cheaters don't know how to use magic weapons.
