Finally managed to beat Rift Wizard 2 yesterday. Game is much harder than the original, though it currently lacks the challenge modes the original had. I was forced to use some game breakingly good synergies that let me cast my whole spellbook in a single turn to pull off the win. Game has much cooler bosses in the later levels now, and just enemies in general end up with really crazy power sets. Apparently it also skews level generation towards enemies that will resist the damage types you've been using so far.

All in all, I really like it. Early game is a lot more difficult and interesting, and the game overall forces you to think and improvise a lot more instead of coming up with a broken wombo combo and using it to solve everything.

Nice to hear, I really enjoyed the first one so this means I'll play this one one day or another.

Hey do I spot Ragnarok aka Valhalla from Norsehelm Productions? By the Hammer of Thor that is good to see.
Omega is also supposed to be an underrated classic.

ZZT isn't really a roguelike, or even a roguelite, but it's a very nice action game nonetheless. Nice blend of combat and puzzles.

Omega has some neat stuff, but it's beyond unpolished, and I'm not sure I'd really recommend it despite sinking quite a few hours into it myself.

I’ve been playing Barony, which is the Minecraft looking first person roguelike. Pretty fun, but the other races/ some new classes are locked behind DLC. Multiplayer is also pretty fun.

Path of Achra went 1.0 if anyone interested.

I’m really enjoying this one. Balatro + Caves of Qud.

To add to this:

If you want to be a necromancer behind 9000 skeletons, this game has it

The possible character build combinations are almost endless and the items you loot add lots of Diablo-like build inspiration. Do NOT look up guides if you want to play this, figuring out the game-breaking stuff is a big part of the fun.

Here’s a recent experiment:

0u9gim.jpeg

The Koszmar race (which is basically a sentient pile of guts in a humanoid form) psychically damages enemies at infinite range based on the damage it receives. There are items that amp this up, which led me to a self-harm build that machine guns enemies with mind bullets.

You could also play a literal rock man that tries to get as encumbered as possible, spending the whole game standing still. Or a plant-man Druid that only heals. Or a suicide bomber that tries to explode himself, relying on your god to bail you out of death.

I have not played a rogue like that has enthralled me like this in a long, long time.

Reticent, despite the strength of the latest fresh update and that of the project concept and ambitions on the whole alongside the dev's potent pedigree---but if the inherent, needless Sword of Damocles towards the bottom has no sway over you then one might venture to Interdict:

Personally i prefer hiding behind 9000 mirrors or psychic mushrooms.

Just look at this poor fella. He is already half health after failing to smash a few mushrooms and isn't aware yet that there are more coming at the end of a game turn.
Mobs or bosses who can multi-strike at range are the bane of any summoner unless your summons have damage reflecting properties or trigger your psychic attacks upon being hit.

Trying the Path of Achra demo. Trying to make some kind of melee blood build work. The top 4 attempts so far (5 hours):

A542F0558BF55455B40223AF254878E0037FAA0E

I'm not an expert at RLs, but the sudden damage spikes that kill me in this seem kind of sus. Is the final game tuned any differently?
