I'll probably torrent this at some point with all the DLC. Paradox expended all my goodwill long ago. If nothing else though, I'll start a bunch of wars to map-paint a phallic-shaped empire. A Great Penis Across The Stars.

I would even buy it with all the DLC if it ever came out as a complete pack, but we know that's not going to happen. There will be a KKKomplete Kollection that includes DLC X, Y and Z, a Deluxe master super ultra collection that includes X,Y,A and a skin pack for F, an Ultimate Collection that has DLC A,B,C,X,Z,G and a new soundtrack, but DLC D,E and will F only be available separately and for full price.

Paradox. Not even once.

Giving it a try now, might stream some of it later.

Game is pretty gud. I have a feeling that this is going to be Paradoxes most successful game to date, given how it's even more accessible than CK2 or EU4, but still has the depth as they do.

Wait for a while, even negative reviews said the start is very good and it starts falling apart in mid and late game.

Sure, this is just my initial reaction.

More codex impressions, less reviews please. I need to know whether to not remove from inventory, not remove from inventory(steam) or ignore.

On the one hand a space strategy game with some 4x elements sounds tempting, on the other hand I don't want to support Paradox' DLC shenanigans...
Also I'm always getting bored by CK2 quite quickly (but somehow keep coming back).

Guess I'll pass and wait for a serious sale.

I am going to wait for few patches. Unless Codex people start praising it a lot.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
What I can say already is that it certainly has high production value...Unlike the usual Paradox strategy games, at least imo.
It looks good, plays well, it's not mindfucking you with information immediately. It's a smooth experience.
It will certainly draw more crowd from that.

The early game is really engaging, the whole "holy shit there are aliens" thing is nicely presented.

Assuming you get a nice starting region the game isn't utterly terrible. Really it feels pretty much like GalCiv2 so far though.

Do the battles play out by themselves like in galactic civilisations 2 or you control the ships directly?

Only played for 2 hours so it may change with later tech, but so far it's standard paradox stuff- select army, right click and see what happens.

No direct control of ships, visually the combat is very similar to GalCiv 2/3.

Events that give research points seem to be bugged, at least I never get any research progress when I choose them. Anyone else seeing the same problem?

The early game is very fun on the first playthrough at least. I wonder if it might get repetitive on later plays. I guess it depends a lot on how much variety there is in the exploration events.
