1000 yo games have more beautiful graphics than modern games. I'm not joking. Modern games try really hard to make extremely ugly looking characters, and why I should upgrade my PC? To see wokeness in ultra?
because you look like a retard posting Epic Vista! (weird how theres no chars...) of the old game while staring at some random hallway with random gen npcs with no anti aliasing because your computer is shit

youtube-granted argument which leads me to believe you're enjoying the game or havent played it since there's plenty to actually point out thats shit but instead you bandwagon for updoots from retards who havent played it but will talk about it endlessly with easily accessible and contextless examples like this

If my PC can run the visuals of the stuff in Morrowind heavily modded, with all optimization, modern games should look BETTER, not worse.

As for characters, here is a char comparasion of old games and new games.

Now a 2004 game. Imagine with modern tech, how the graphics SHOULD look closer to the closplayer but looks like the images above.

These games are not 1000 years old, but they are considered "last-gen" by nu-gaming standards. One can only guess what happened to warrant such a downgrade in recent games.

Those games run on a potato. Notice how there's no goytracing, no AI upscaling, no super advanced shaders, nothing.

Yes. NPC's aren't well made 2 decades ago and modding can't help that much. But if someone pics OpenMW engine, and have the work to remake every single human and mob model and remake each animation, do you think that Morrowind with this graphical mods will look better or worse than Starfield in a PC that has the minimum requirements for Starfield?

Because using newer textures, modern lightning techniques and so on can make wonders with the graphics, but human models require much more effort to modernize. If a 20 yo game with few mods can be better looking in every aspect except "models", that still a big L for SF.

And this is not only in Bugthesda.

Look to Rockstar with their GTA remake.

Moders did a much better job graphically improving old GTA games than the new Rockstar diversity hires.

Meanwhile, actual Morrowind.

My point is not that Morrowind looks better than starfield. My point is that modders made Morrowind look better than most modern games in every aspect except Models and can run in a potato.

It really does not and they really did not. Graphics mods always look weird as shit outside of curated screenshots.

Disagreed. I played Morrowind with graphics mods and looks amazing.

See at 1:13 some creatures, without re making the models, only messing with textures. Animations and models are still vastly inferior but again, "modernizing" it would't be as easy. My point is just that teh graphics are too heavy to worth the high graphics requirements and that people playing in low should have a smooth experience.

It's not just about diversity. It's about how it runs on consoles.

But yes, the diversity hires have an axe to grind. Either a political axe, or a resentment of beauty in general one.

Morrowind looks better because the art style was more pleasing to the eye.
Starfield's style is just drab and boring. Even Neon feels half-assed.

The sad thing is that all their work will be for nothing, if and when Bethesda shuts them down to release the remake.

That, btw, is something we're just on the cusp of: remaking every classic video game - with some political alterations to fix the wrongthink, of course.

Final Fantasy, Diablo 2 (just look at how they uglified and diversified characters like the amazon and the assassin), SuperMario RPG on the way...

And I mean full remakes, not just rehabilitations with annoying additions like Beamdog's hackery.

You can bet that if Bethesda survives, they'll likely jump on that bandwagon, and you'll get a streamlined Morrowind with tranny pronouns and Redguards spammed everywhere for some reason.

That isn't a screenshot of Starfield though. That is someone cropping part of a screenshot (or possibly a screen capture of a stream, which may have introduced its own degradation to the quality) and then blowing it up.

If you crop part of a screenshot and blow it up with any game, you can make it look terrible.

I have been playing Starfield with low settings, so I am pretty familiar with what it looks like even on those settings. It doesn't look like this.

Not going to lie, this looks better than the Deus Ex, Thief and RtCW graphics mods I used, but even here you still have essentially old models and old spell effects with higher res textures and different lighting. It's not that it looks worse, but it does look a bit frankensteinian where you have modern 8K textures pulled over a 20yo geometry. Personally, not a fan, but I understand that some people like it.

This is a pic I took on Ultra settings in the in-game photo mode. Do not be fooled by these pathetic worms jerking off to negro fetish porn telling you the npc's in Starfield look fine.

if and when Bethesda shuts them down to release the remake.

The source code is under GPL-v3, I downloaded it and anyone can easily recompile it. Is not hard. The source code is also in many linux distro repository, Blizzard would have to DMCA a lot of places... And the openMW don't come with proprietary stuff, You still need to put the *esm to run the game. Is similar to the "freeablo", " We don't distribute any copyrighted game assets, which means you'll need to have a copy of Diablo to be able to play." : https://freeablo.org/

Final Fantasy, Diablo 2 (just look at how they uglified and diversified characters like the amazon and the assassin), SuperMario RPG on the way...

I honestly wanna see the dumbsterfire that would be IF Bugthesda tries to make Morrowind Baizuo friendly. Things from the top of my mind that they would need to change :
  • Bretons start the game with 50 INT and Redguards, with 30. All char stats will need to be re balanced.
  • Redguard is clearly based in Africans and Bretons in Europeans.
  • God's Fire/God's Frost, the strongest non custom destruction spell is so mana expensive that no redguard could cast it with his base magic, only if he has help from items to get more magic than his maximum potential.
  • Zero redguard in higher ups mages guild or Telvanni house.
  • Bretons which are a tiny minority among Morrowind population are the most common race in Mages guild.
  • There are a powerful mage in Telvanni house which cloned himself into female daughters and uses his daughters as sex slaves and are his "brides". He and his research are crucial to curing corpus.
  • The rival of mages guild, the house Telvanni build towers with no accessible way to reach their quarters without a spell(or potion) of levitation as they don't wanna to be bothered by lowly people that can't cast this spell. They literally sees themselves above everyone else.
  • They also practice slavery
  • One of their quests involve quelling an slave rebellion
  • Dark Elves have Dark Skin due a literal curse by Azura.
  • Everyone is very racist in the game and refers to you a n'wah. The leader of one of the hosues refuses no matter what to recognize a "n'wah" and this is also a point in the mq.
In a world where JKR is too politically incorrect, they would need to re work all major questlines of all main guilds and houses , the entire lore behind dunmer to make it "baizuo friendly"... Imagine a woke chief diversity officer making US$300k/y seeing Morrowind for the first time and having to """""fix""""" it.

you have modern 8K textures pulled over a 20yo geometry.

Yep. Making the game true modern looking in every aspect would require way more effort.

I tried to find the worst screen possible to mock Starfield. But honestly, even in the lowest settings, the graphics is very detailed.

My point is that modern games are too unoptimized and I don't find most of the chars and scenario good looking.

DeViti I see you disagree with my statement that Starfield is more of an RPG than Fallout 4. This is pretty accurate actually. Both are games which I don’t consider being true RPGs and more FPS with RPG elements. That’s because the combat is too reliant on player skill and there are no real role playing options besides the rail roaded quests, with a few choices for flavour.

Starfield though has more of these choices than Fallout 4 and 3. You have unique dialogue options depending on your character’s skills and traits. More gameplay elements are locked behind skill points like the ability to utilize ship thrusters and advanced crafting. There are multiple outcomes for quests which are not always just different flavor text.

Yes Starfield is an FPS with RPG elements and it’s more of an RPG than Fallout 4.

If you would take Fallout 4 and replace the map with empty wasteland with a few POIs, and then copy paste these cells a million times and seperate them by a loading screen. You have Fallout 4’s gameplay minus the intricate handcrafted content. For that of course we have a handful of cells which are stocked with content, the cities, and they do apparently have more hand crafted content than Fallout 4. The issue is, as many have mentioned, is that these hubs are disjointed from the procedurally generated cells where the actual gameplay takes place.

I already said in the very beginning of this thread that if you liked Fallout 4’s combat you’ll probably like this, because you’ll get a loot of it’s looter shooter gameplay here. Yesterday I spent a couple hours just hunting down Elites for loot, got a rifle that does 400+ damage. I’m still not really interested in doing too many quests but the gameplay is there and it’s an improvement over Fallout 4.

I actually encountered some interesting locations and quests, I have picked up a few settlers that are now living on my ship waiting for me to drop them off at Neon, which won’t happen for a while.

I do think the analogy of a million of Fallout 4’s map cells, stitched together with loading screens, and a couple stocked with hand crafted content is accurate. It results in a kind of patchwork of an endless flow of enemies and loot, with some good old Bethesda-type quests at the center.
