Oh my...

Bow Convince to the Steam, they say. It make you life easier, they say. Maggots....

Steam should default to download the latest version of a game, but offer an option to download older versions.

Played for 2h (can't focus with clatter im my house) and few things - first fight was refreshing.
-enemies don't have wallhacks and autoaim. Choosing Rookie lever and they still kill you fast, only their reflex is went low (really cool to be honest).
-reloading system. Found that you can exchange bullets between magazines.
-selling stuff is better, still Traders (Sidor) buy your junk for almsost nothing. At least, can't stand CoP mods where you can't sell weapons, except SGM where you get spare parts for repairs.
-hunted 2 boars and they're don't need 20 shells in the head to die. Good.

But what about dosh (money)? Found 2 bodies with 5k rubles and that was enough to repair my starting suit and weapons. Sounds easy but whatever.

Steam should default to download the latest version of a game, but offer an option to download older versions.

You asking for it corporation that cannot change "$=€" system, and have problem with downloading (alt+tab to resuming download is nonsense, why Gabe?) to something for hardcore people?
Maybe when it become part of TF2 or DOTA. And staff that fly through C+++/ codes and know about STALKER modding problems.
Then - maybe.

They actually changed that recently, it only took years and years of people complaining. If we badger them about getting older versions of games for download they might implement that in 2018.

Dosh in ZoA is a bit screwed-up for now, but the devs are going to change that soon.

How is Misery the misery mod now ?. I gave up with 2.02 (I think it was) patch. Did they fix the laser guided nades and bullet sponge bandits along with the forced linear progression ?. Or should I find a new Call of pripyat mod instead ?.
I suspect Misery 2 will require more than a couple patches to get stable and flawless. (that is considering it actually will)

Where do I find the latest version of Faction War for Clear Sky ?

I see there is a "Faction mod" on Moddb and a "Faction War" on GSC forums. Which one is the REAL THING ?

EDIT: oh, and does the mod disables the main storyline and just makes the Zone a warzone or something ?

I downloaded SGM 2.2 and used the Zaton start patch to skip the cordon content entirely. So far things are looking good, minus what feels like a crushing FOV that I can't seem to fix. But other then that its surprising to find a mod that actually has green foliage for once instead of making the zone into the surface of the moon. Also it starts you with sensible equipment as well. But one thing I did notice in both a you tube lets play and while doing the first mission on the barge for Beard is that enemies range from bullet sponges to paper but I will have to see as I go along. Also it has some elemental effects that could get annoying like acidic rain and other fallout effects but I think I can tweak them if they prove to be a problem with the many settings options that come packed with the mod.

You can try the FOV fix before you install anything, and you can remove fallout/psi-storms in the Atmosfear panel in-game. Also yeah some enemies are very bullet-spongy, and some I think are even invincible (like the night snipers dude who escapes). He's not in 2.1.

It seems that any armor stronger then a sunrise suit turns enemies into absolute titans able to withstand entire magazines of 29-40+ damage from weapons. With the strongest thus far being one random stalker at the barge wearing a freedom faction armor who took considerable punishment to even stun let alone go down. But now I managed to grab a FNP 90 and an Ak 74 from a bandit group who were getting destroyed by a bullet sponge Flesh things are starting to swing a little the other way for me. But from what I can tell the order of the day is AP rounds and high damage, high rate of fire weapons with a above average accuracy.

Yeah AP is the way to go, but the other added ammo works great to. Btw things get easier if you manage loot a broken exo from a zombie, mind you not the ideal choices but does remove some annoying factors. It wont protect you from Alpha Team snipers and tbh most of them seem sniper level. Still once you do manage to kill them, it should give a monetary boost so that you can start thinking joining factions mercs>bandits>dawn>freedom>duty>monolith. Kind of hard to pull off some times.

Also anybody hada a go with SGM 2.2, Misery, Atmosfear 3 And GOTZ? Looks interesting, but something to work together flawlessly could be a pain.

Personally Im using this SGM submod.

Seriously new start in SGM 2.2 for CoP was that bad? It was actually pretty fun except one save erase and swamp minefield (pure bullshit, srsly).
Then went to Zaton and my interest went somewhere between zero and "not this shit again...".

After dozen of hours in older SGM I can't watch it any more.

So no return to CoP till Misery get serious fix or went into newer version.

There are so many different overhauls for STALKER. God damn it. Why can't tweakers of Deus Ex get as manymods of this magnitude finished?!

Haven't tried it yet, they are saying it's incompatible with the Steam version. Wonder if anyone has found a work around - ModDB is such an unorganized, convoluted mess.

Actually I found the solution with the help of some people on 4chan. You have to ditch SweetFX, either don't install it (it's bundled with AA2 under the folder data/sweetfx, just delete it) or delete d3d9.dll in stalker/bin after you've installed the mod. These SweetFX things are not compatible with Stalker on Steam for some reason. Keep in mind that the mod only works with 1.0006. I also recommend you write down -noprefetch in the game's launch parameters, it makes the loading times a lot faster.

It is fantastic, really. Extremely moody, yes. It's kind of like Misery for SoC but without the bullshit difficulty, and the mask/helmet overlays are in too. Some rather minor gameplay aspects have been changed, such as healing which takes a lot more time and drains a bit of your stamina, or the need for artifact detectors. The game starts in the morning and it only stopped raining near 6pm. Oh and I discovered that while doing Agroporm by night, but stealth is actually viable and works!

Some pictures for y'all:

Thanks, got it working. Also, any optimization hints? I'm getting mediocre fps - what should I turn down/off?

Try to reduce the grass display distance. Something like 100m looks alright and isn't too demanding.

Is there any guaranteed stashes or traders in SGM 2.2 where I can pick up or buy guns without needing to save/load scum for bullets and weapons ?. So far I have only seen a AK47 for sale once with Hawaiian and most of the bullets I need never seem to be on sale anywhere.

It looks so awesome!
I always had this look in my head that closer you got to the reactor the more fantastic and somehow diseased and decayed would everything look, but it would also affect the very nature arround it and this fits almost exactly what I had in mind.
The first time I booted up Misery and was surrounded by fog in dreary meadow with little visibility I was hooked and this certainly looks as awesome, could it work alonside some mods like the repair kit mods or ZRP?

Ehhh okay, the mod adds some surprises later on.

I just completed X18 and it's crowded with zombies. Not to mention the 3 additional Burers roaming one of the floors. I shat my pants on video.

I managed to find a M110 SASS (a semi-auto sniper rifle used in Iraq and Afghanistan by the US) and it's one of the best weapons I've ever seen in a STALKER mod. The shotguns are ridiculously awesome to use too.

It's done in a tasteful manner, however. They're not "in your face".

They are civilian zombies too (the ones that were cut from SoC), not the stalker ones who are armed.

I played one mode like that and had about three zombies HUARGHDERP in my face when I stepped into X18.
Non of the atmospher or subtle, sanity eroding mindfuck of the original.
Never fucking again - it's ZRP for me and shitty "let's make x18 awesome by filling it with zombies!" modders can all die of fucking radiation sickness for all I care.
