Why are the people in this thread so butthurt about spoony making content other retards enjoy and are willing to throw some change at him for making?
Because he is taking adventage of stupid people. Would you rob a person with disability from his/her money?
So he should be making money out of content regarding shitty video games instead?

Yeah, he was bitching about absolutely everything, and then seemed surprised that an MMORPG would have an MMORPG quest. Even things like bitching about the summoner costume - that's a Final Fantasy staple, goddammit. Also, he complained that there was no voice acting. Because that worked out so well for SWTOR.

Well he bitched badly enough, but he complained that there was no voice acting BUT there were cutscenes with facial animations. So they either did not translate all the game or made it very FF7-8 awkward. You don't have VO, might as well create a nice dialogue screen with portraits and so?
And I think a lot of people can understand why somebody would turn off the MMORPG where you get kill 10 wolves/beetles AGAIN. Since developers don't get it and just continue the copypasta and make players sink their time into boring worthless shit like fetch quests or mob cleaning, why should we care?

So Spoony's video on Vampire: The Masquerade is making me cringe with each passing second as he explains stuff just so close but wrong. Right now, his big mistake in my book is just using the original Malk clanbook rather than the revised one. It's fun to look at, but I just did not bother picking it up at all when I found it at a used book store.

I haven't even watched the whole thing yet. He stops making me cringe 15 minutes in or so. I guess that's good news.

He generally misremembers things overall, but I can live factual mistakes if the actual storytelling is good.

But saying Caine was Generation 0 still got me, though. :obviously:

I guess you're right. The man's interest in Vampire generally seems to lie in the realm of "This sounds interesting. I'll play it every once in a while." over my "OH MY GOD! THIS IS AMAZING! I WILL PLAY IT TO PERFECTION" retardo mindset.

In his last video Spoony said his next review will be very long, cause he will review 6 games. Wonder what those will be. Maybe something old, like he did Ultima?

The first 6 Final Fantasy games, maybe.

Akasen as someone who will never get the chance of playing Vampire the Masquerade (or any PnP RPG for that matter) I'm genuinely curious in what ways Spoony went wrong.
I'd have to rewatch the video to get everything but off the top of my head he got the generation thing wrong (gen 1 was Caine, gen 2 was Caine's direct progeny, and so on) but to be fair that's pretty easy to get confused about, and he got some disciplines mixed up - he used Protean when he meant Potence, which is what actually raises your strength, and he said Animalism when he meant Protean, which is what actually gives you claws (among other things). He also did a poor job explaining the Generation background since you can max that without even spending freebie points - you get 7 points to put in backgrounds for free - and also he made it seem like putting points in disciplines or skills is a good use of freebie points (it's not, you should max willpower and maybe raise your combat skill to 5, then probably put the rest in backgrounds). He's right that everyone always puts 5 points in generation, though, because if you're playing a Camerilla game you're almost never going to have the opportunity to lower your generation since diablerie is a crime that carries the death penalty in the Camerilla and at 8th generation you can spend 3 blood a turn which is incredibly useful.

The brainwashing a vampire stuff is actually a pretty cool idea and I wouldn't have a problem with it lore-wise.

The first 6 Final Fantasy games, maybe.
That would take like 3½ years for him to complete

It would be really neat to have Spoony review some older PC games (even older console RPGs like Phantasy Star 1-4 and Shadowrun would be nice, though I doubt he played them as young and he doesn't seem like the type who goes back to older games he has no experience of), but I doubt he's ever again going to review old games. I want to like Spoony, he's occasionally quite funny, criticizes popamole shit and likes stuff like Ultima, X-Com, System Shock, wrestling, Shin Megami Tensei, Planescape: Torment, PnP RPGs, Silent Hill and Wing Commander so he seems very likeable but it's really depressing and infuriating to follow him when most of his videos are boring way too long vlog rants and overall he has very low standards when it comes to releasing content. And he has a penchant for stupid shit, such as dressing up in costumes and LARPing, channel awesome crossovers, hypersensitivity to criticism, spams twitter and he often acts like his uninformed opinions are the truth (TM) and is condescending towards differing opinions when in reality usually he's wrong and is just too lazy and self centered to figure out the truth. And he's super slow to release content. I'd understand it if it was a hobby, but apparently he does this thing for a living. And yet he only releases like 3-4 game reviews a year. What the fuck? How is that even possible? Many online gaming celebrities who have way more viewers and subscribes Spoony like AVGN, PeanutButterGamer, Caddicasaurus and JonTron (to my knowledge) do similiar videos for free and release new content way more often, usually with better editing, more elaborate "acting scenes" (Spoony did most of his LARP scenes inside his house, looks really amateurish) and so on. Not to mention less popular people who release well produced content on a regular basis for free like Matt Barton and GameSack.

Btw I really wonder who these people are who keep funding Spoony and the Channel Awesome retards. Obviously they're "nerdy" enough to care about the content that's not really mainstream, but still extroverted enough to not act and think like cool jaded internet cynics (=white knighting and circle jerking). So people who are aren't average joes as they're emotionally invested in internet shows about video games, cartoons and bad movies, but they still act and think like average joes. Must be the same kind of people who post at Escapist forums and read Kotaku&RPS. Spoony especially must have a small devoted fanbase, as his videos don't have that many views in youtube and he mostly posts content at his own website.

It's the internet. You can make money off of anything.

Eh, what the channel awesome people do is less actual critical analysis and more entertainment. And what people find entertaining is largely subjective, so I say if they can find an audience large enough to support themselves more power to them. It's obviously not a stable or long term career plan, but that doesn't mean they can't have plans for what they'll do once this well dries up (as it probably will at some point). In any case, it's not that different than, say, what a stand-up comedian does and I don't see people calling for them to get real jobs.

I feel that it's one of the great injustices of our time that I can't make a living by playing games and watching movies when they're able to do so

I just wish he'd go back to LP'ing, that was the one thing that I can say without a doubt that he was consistently entertaining and funny with. Guy's great with improv comedy, and that's a real asset in the current age of 'Barrel' humour LP's.

I do hope he returns to reviewing and LPing games. Of course there is the option for the classic X-Files FMV game, though I'd love to see him review/play Enter the Matrix, which I think is right up his alley.
