Watched some lol stream and after 30 minutes it had 9 kills. What the fuck? :retarded:

I know this game isn't supposed to be competetive but they should really remove flash from the game and get some heavy cc into it because right now it's a boring snoozefest.

Perhaps you should've watched some of Fnatics games. Especially when Shushei was playing AP Alistar. They were anything but snoozefests, even with >20 kills in an average tournament game. Complaining that people don't die a lot in a game where everyone plays a solid tactical game is retarded. There are seldom more than 4 goals in a game of football (non-US variant) and that doesn't stop it from being one of the most popular spectator sports in the world. There are plenty of ways to apply pressure to players without making them explode in a shower of (A)wesome chunks. You can mess up their last-hitting, force them to expend summoner spells or position so that they get zoned out of xp range.

Both the HoN and LoL streams are free for anyone to watch. The HoN stream so far has capped out at 26k simultaneous viewers, while the LoL stream hit 218k yesterday, with 980k unique pageviews hitting it up throughout saturday for the initial qualifiers. Think about those numbers for a while, then ask yourself if people would elect to watch the more interesting game when both are streamed at the same time.

Y'know, if there's one thing I absolutely LOATH about hon's competitive scene, then it's the fact that the picks are just sooo booooring. Each and every single game i've recently watched, there've been the exact same fucking picks, they just keep on picking those same old goddamn dota ports over and over again, they raaarely pick someone new (such as Aluna).
I don't know, I lose interest soo fast whenever I see another Hellbringer or Glacius or whatever, I remeber there used to be a time when they'd actually play some new heroes. Oh and last year's dreamhack I remember a team had to fight a bo3 with just 4 members, competing agains another quite good team, and they'd actually won! That was entertaining, not the snoozefest we get to see nowadays.
These last two days I've watched some sc2 and LoL, where you don't get to see the same fucking picks (i was actually amazed when I saw this chink playing a mad Corki, shit was pretty cash), and barely watched a bit of HoN.

Speaking of playing the exact same thing, HotshotGG needs to learn to play somrhting other than Nidalee. A Nidalee ban pretty much turns a game vs. CLG into a 5v4 unless they have a roamer so he can 2v1 bot with Cho. And roamers just aren't terribly good against european lane setups.

Also, FnaticMSI's Shushei is the best thing to ever come out of Poland. He's going to single-handedly make Gragas FOTM.

That was former KD gaming ( now known as OK ) vs Tsog I think. Hanni's plane was late and they could not use a ringer in the semifinals so they went for a ultra heavy gank strat. I think it was Valk, Hag, Pebbles and tempest. I was watching it live and was sad after they lost the first game but after they got a draw I was amazed and kinda proud since overpow is from Poland.

AFAIK lol stream was heavily advertised in their launcher and on their website. No wonder they get many more views, there are many more people who play this game. Nobody denies that. I just find it funny that Riot never published how many online players they have at any given time because I think this number might be smaller than everybody thinks.

And please don't compare kills in a video game to goals in a football match. Kills in Hon/Lol directly correlate to pvp action. Who the fuck wants to watch a PvE game via stream? Apart from Let's Play this is stupid. You gonna sit there and watch as some chink is trying to last hit a creep? AWMAGAWD IS HE GONNA GET THAT CREEP KILL?!?!

And I think it's you who should watch some FnaticMSI. Especially some good Dr Repulsor plays. This hero was designed to be awesome.

Was talking to a friend yesterday who is an avid lol player and he told me the same thing would be happening in Lol but they change/rebalance the game so fast that strong champions can be shit tier in a matter of 2 weeks. Don't think I agree with that. Sure there are some picks that you can never go wrong with like Plague, Witch, Repulsor, Magmus, Valk (lawl and people on hon forums qq about OP s2 heroes) but lately there have been some interesting come backs like Accursed, Jera, Wildsoul has been FOTM. I would really love to see some invisibility heroes in comp games but because they are flawed by design it's not really gonna happen.

I play 1-2 games almost every night, around midnight. I have seen Occ playing too, chlubion is usually playing with me because I need a sidekick. Whisper me tonight and maybe we will do some big plays :)

edit: you have been playing this whole time right? No Hon whatsoever? So let's prepare for some pretty buttraping stomps. People really got better in those two years I have been playing this game.

I miss the time when my friend gave me his account which had 900 mmr. 30 straight wins with like 10:1 K:D ratio.

So Karthus and Brand pretty much brought in the rain in the finals. Neato. New rotation also makes my blood pressure rise.
Bad Veigars and Zileans, who's kinda poopy in 5v5 end game anyway, on my team.
Solo mid against Kats and LeBlancs
trAnnies everywhere
Tristana

Hnnng.

I guess now if ever is a great time to start learning that Kassadin I got a week ago. :smug:

Maybe one you learn how to play them all to a decent level :P

I had a 4v5 turning into a 3v5 ranked game yesterday. Our janna never connected and our trundle disconnected after 15 minutes. Fortunately the other team kept getting cocky, so we baited them to a turret, at which point my friend playing ashe, me playing akali and a ramdom othe rperson playing a really good jarvan managed to kill 2-3 of them without losses. Once we were ahead, I kept ganking enemies who weren't in a roaming group while ashe farmed up and jarvan defended agains ttheir pushes. They tried to take an early baron, but their amumu got himself killed by it, alerting us to it and allowing me to dash in at the last moment for a steal. We aced them and managed to push 2 inhibitors before they respawned.

Their butthurt when we actually made their nexus explode was delicious.

Heheh, I'm only level 14, but honestly I plan on reaching 30, and I have friends who want to eventually play ranked.

The way I saw it was the retail pack (20$ for 20 champs, 10$ of riot points, and 4 master runes) was a steal, and the other pack was still a dollar a champ, which is much better than just using RP. I still have 900 RP left over too. $40 for a game I've played more than most $60 retail games is a good deal to me.

No idea if these offers are available in EU, I kind of assumed they are.

Yeah Ive done the same thing on eu servers. Once I played for more than a week I felt it was worth paying for one bundle, after two weeks another and so on, got plenty of enjoyment out of the game so might aswell put some money into it.

The bundles are great value for money if you feel like splashing cash on the game.

Just remember to save your hard-earned IP until you hit level 21 and get a generic runebook setup.

3x flat hp quints, 9x armor pen reds, 9x magic pen reds, 9x scaling mana regen yellows, 9x flat armor yellows and 9x scaling CDR blues will let you build a decent rune page for every champion in the game. also, when it comes to new champs, never invest IP in them until you've tried them on a free week. :)

Ye, runes are the way to go for diversity. With good rune build and mastery setup you can boost your imaginary build in the way you want. I play mostly tanks that packs a punch(squishy killer), so I wall myself from the start with a rune/mastery setup to boost champs damage further as the game goes. My Crit Blitz is a menace at level 2 and level 18.

Oh, and potato team won. As I predicted. Shame that US teams got beat up, was looking forward to fNatic vs TSM showdown.
Only one game with Blitz in it but he failed to get useful late game while potato Alistar wtfpwned whole team. They should've rushed that game while they had the advantage. Lots of games lost in this tournament cause they couldnt finish quickly or they didnt know what to do with the advantage while the losing team dictated flow of the game and turned the game in their favor.

Well he did have some impressive pulls with Blitz like the pull through the wall at the Dragon.
I was hoping aAa would win for some reason.

Whats wrong with them Advertising?? HoN could have done the same thing to generate more interest for there game.

I still play, but HoN has had serious server issues this last month or two... jeebus. Hit 1800 mmr for the first time awhile ago, felt very pleased with myself. Still hovering around that area, but I have trouble in the games with 1900s... don't know if I can be bothered to step my game up enough to compete at that level.

As for the Dreamhack HoN games... wow, MSI dominated. First game in the finals was fun to watch, Reason's trilane top did really well at first with Myrm, Tort, and Behe, but Corrupted Disciple had some crazy plays to overcome the 0-5 start I think and swing the momentum. And somehow Maliken still got ridiculous farm up there. Didn't watch the second game but I heard it was a stompfest by MSI. I seem to remember the competition was much better last year, but I guess some drama happened.

Yarr, it seems like they fucked up bigtime. At least they unlocked everything the shop has to offer for everyone for a limited period of time.

LOL HAD THEIR STREAM EMBEDDED INTO THE GAME LAUNCHER.
ANYONE WHO PLAYED COUNTED TOWARDS THE VIEWER COUNT. IT'S NOT IMPRESSIVE.

Meanwhile SC2 had 5 streams running with people who actually tuned in themselves.

They had what they call a catastrophic failour when updating the server.
And from a quick look on the forum it seems like things are all kind of fucked up now.

There is a stat revert to June 9 I think so for me, nothing of value is lost. I play to have fun, not to boost stats. I don't care about cosmetic shop either. Play with default everything and haven't spent any of my coins yet on any extras.

Gratz on that rating, I think it's the highest of any of us on the codex :salute:

I recently played against H4nni from OK. Met him mid as Deadwood while he was repulsor. Was holding somewhat but after he dinged 6 he just went on a killing spree and I couldn't keep up, even after getting a few kills and buying pkey. They were a team of five and were on vent apparently, whole jungle warded, our counterwarded etc. Was ashamed we did so poorly when I watched replay later that day.

Second game was a stomp, true. But it was because of the picks. MSI went for a heavy push strat with Wildsoul, Pollywog and Tempest while Reason tried to get Corrupted farmed. They were down 6 towers in a matter of 12-15 minutes and with that gold advantage MSI was unstoppable. MSIFly is a genius when it comes to outpicking opponents and choosing surprising strats.

Never said it was wrong to advertise, just pointing out where the numbers come from. That and what Zed wrote.

I'm curious Zed... Do you play LoL? did you open the client while dreamhack was on? Or are you simply spouting what someone else told you because it's easier to echo someone elses words without checking the facts yourself?

There was an image link embedded in a launcher, that opened your browser on the page with a stream. Only the pople who clicked the "Click here to watch the live stream" link counted towards the viewer count. Just because the image link is a still picture of a stream window does not mean the image is the stream itself. The HTML browser built into the LoL launcher cannot display flash objects (that would almost double the memory overhead it takes up thanks to the crappy way Adobe AIR is structured). Since the streaming module Own3d.tv uses is based on flash, it could not run in the client even if Riot wanted it to (and I'm sure they'd have loved it!) without recompiling the launcher and distributing a patch to everyone that'd incidentially make their already sluggish launcher slower.

Yeah there was not an Embedded stream in the Client only a link for the browser.
Man some of the HoN fanatics are having some major issues with the fact that LoL is bigger then there game. It is great fun to read the "IF our game was advertised it would have more then 1000 viewers" and YEAH if S2 had put more effort into it then YES it would be better.

Most of the hate and anger comes from people who cannot stand the popamole and LoL is exactly that in this genre. It's dumbed down, slow paced piece of crap which lo and behold gets a shit ton of players because it's free. And again, would really love to see those concurrent numbers of players in LoL, something people have been asking for ages and never got any data.

You see the same thing when people here bitch and moan about Fallout 3 and/or another series that gets butchered to oblivion.

I really don't think HoN would get more players than lol with proper advertising. Thing is, it's too fast and it punishes you hard for mistakes. Hardly a pro in a casual gamers world.

Swain is neither buffed nor nerfed so all is well for me. Feedlesticks and GP players are gonna be happy though.

Ha ha. Let me tell you what is slow paced and passive. Last hitting enemy creeps while denying your own creeps. It's also not fun.

So without denying there is 50% less action right? And judging by the amount of kills in competetive scene I would guess it's the lolers that focus on creeps all the time.
