Ok, so I ran into solitude, saw an execution take place. Being retarded, of course. I decided to interrupt the execution. I ended up slaughtering a dozen legion before realizing General Tullius cannot be killed. I ran a bit before submiting.

I serve my jail time. Then I walk over to the General and have a chat. He was standing over the dozen bodies of his soldiers, dead by my hand, and I asked if I could join.

'Sure, I'm sure whatever happened before was a misunderstanding, talk to my right hand man.' '

You can larp that they want you since they saw how good you were. What seems more jarring is that the bodies were still there after your jail time.

Thread creator and everyone else complaining about this game and Oblivion: Wait...you played Oblivion, hated it, and then you actually went out and bought Skyrim? In that case, you and Skyrim deserve each other.
I hated oblivion, fallout 3. I somewhat liked new vegas; i mostly liked morrowind.

Skyrim so far to me is nice as a hiking simulator but the following are awful-
1) Everything about combat in the game
2) The UI
3) forgettable npc's/bad lore presentation/bad skill+class&profession system/alchemy/lockpicking/cooking etc

No worry bro! I have my magical compass with me. So much for that immershun.

I also found out that you can't use the Elemental Fury shout with enchanted weapons, gives you "Weapon is already enchanted" message. Good job once again, Todd.

Things that are ACTUALLY worse than Oblivion so far:
-obviously the UI
-stealth: you can walk behind a shopkeeper and grab everything from the shelves. It was shitty in Oblivion but at least they TRIED to keep an eye on you back then.
-no item wear
-finisher animations

During Azura's quest I managed to rez two dremora mages and bring them with me out of the soul gem world.

Now they will follow me forever. At least until I get bored of them and "store" their bodies in my house.

I also leveled smithing to 91 so I could give my cat follower legendary gear although five minutes later I got bored and sent him on his way.

Also, some dungeons are actually pretty cool, like Blackreach

I was so disappointed when I saw blackreach and realized what they could actually do with the game :(.

That text is about them trying to execute you at the start, not about the guys you killed. Text is still retarded, but seemingly not for the reasons you thought.

Because i am lazy, don't feel like reloading, and for great bumpage does anyone know if you can take alternate paths on the more evil Daedric quests like Molag Bal and Namira to help the priests or Vigilants of Stendaar to thwart the Daedric Princes?
For one, right before I was supposed to kill an innocent, I turned on the Daedric cult and slaughtered them all.
The innocent thanked me for saving him, and it was fun going back to town and hearing people chat about the folk I'd slaughtered, "Hey, I wounder what happened to ol' Jake..."

No. In Morrowind there are highwaymen who demand gold or your life, NPC's who challenge you to duels and people who if you offend (not the same as "taunt") will attack you. That's off the top of my head.

Have had all three of those happen in Skyrim.

Also, nice to see so many raiders and bandits who warn you away if you get close, but don't attack unless you come too close or draw a weapon.

I have to admit - I still love to see the throat-slitting animation

Soo what is the Kodex Kritikal Konsensus on Skyrim so far (tl;dr)?
And if it's positive, is it positive because it's actually decent enough, or is it positive because after oblivious, acrania and derp age 2 putting your ballsack into a meat grinder seems to be a blissful experience?
I concede that my enjoyment of Skyrim might be primarily due to the fore-mentioned games lowering my expectations.

Like I've been saying since day 1: It's a surprisingly above-mediocre game. It's by no means great. Lots of it is derptastic. But it has its moments and I have been genuinely entertained by it

Can you jump like a flea person in this game, like 20x your height vertically and/or horizontally in one go? This was my key pleasure in Morrowind

Got into a fight with armed guards ....like around 10 of them took over my hide out after I was gone for a day. I was kinda surprised by this. They even filled the shelves with their imperial armor...even horses on the fort's courtyard.

@__@ sometimes I like this game, but other times the invulnerable NPC piss me off. I did use the no essential mod to no effect.

Yeah, I'm really not convinced in this Imperial Legion business. I mean, I have no business coming back to rejoin them. It was very weak writing for a guy who barely escaped execution to join the Imperial Legion. There's no motivation. Unless you count on the Stormcloak's xenophobia.

Still, I'm looking for a cloak mod.

No. But if there was a TES that needed climb as a skill, it's skyrim.

There's quite a number of cliffs that pose no threat because you can simply slideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee all the way down with no issue whatsoever.

So yeah, descending is no problem. But often I wish there's a levitation spell. Also, no ladders, lol. Bethesda cannot into ladders. That essential limits their architecture design when taking account of multi levels. They have to rely on ramps, and stairs. Regardless of how logical it is to just have a ladder to climb a 10 ft height.

Shouldn't you be happy that some company has the balls to release any form of RPG these days. You'll regret calling Skyrim "shit" when your grandchild is fucking role-playing CoD: Modern Warfare 350000001

One thing I can't get over is the retarded dungeon layout, and general shittiness resulting from it. You'd think it would be impossible to, say, make a Fort type structure into a single corridor with some rooms along the way, it just makes no sense and looks retarded. Bethesda tried very hard though, and voila. Or when a dungeon is described as the ruins of an ancient city, and it still ends up as the single goddamned path in the end.

I don't even know why they thought they needed to do this. Oblivion was as dumbed-down and generic as you could possibly get, and it had a good amount of decent dungeons nevertheless. Fallout 3 and NV had "dungeon" layouts one would expect from actual buildings or underground vaults. So why is Skyrim so persistent with the insane linearity?

Also, on an aesthetic note, the dungeons are way too bright. Using one of those gamma correction mods does help, but there are still light sources everywhere, even in fucking caves only inhabited by wild animals. I remember actually using a Torch in Obivion and Morrowind on multiple occasions, while in Skyrim there's absolutely no point. I think the Dwemer ruins took the worst hit from this; they were dark, dilapitated and creepy in Morrowind; while in Skyrim they're pretty much Disneyland underground with all the excessive lighting.

Kind of funny how Beth managed to improve upon Oblivion in most aspects (not that hard, but they tried), and then fuck up the core gameplay so badly, since you spend the majority of your time dungeon crawling. And naturally, nobody gives a shit, because the new dungeons look so pretty.

lolno. The dungeons are something like the best thing about the game. You should be bitching about the linear quest endings.

Well, to be fair, Oblivion's dungeons weren't particularly good, but at least you could explore them. In Skyrim you just run along the only path available while killing shit. I mean, it's basically CoD:Skyrim.

I think you guys are also falling victim to the "WOW SHINY" syndrome. Don't worry, it'll pass with more gameplay, same as it did with Oblivion.

But the game has torches? Never understood why games have torches/flashlights/night vision when none of it matters.

The dungeons are linear shit, true. Among the worst "dungeons" I've ever seen in an RPG.
