If normal ammo is cheap as hell then I have no problem with unlimited ammo. With limited, everyone would simply buy ten thousand bullets for each weapon before the very first mission - other than cutting down on useless clicking, there'd be no difference.
Unless, of course, ammo has weight, and weight (or size) has impact on effectiveness of a gunner. In this case, having unlimited bullets is inexcusable.
Exactly, everybody will buy a shitload of ammo.
So unless implementing a weight system, ammo management would only be useful for very specific scenario purpose.
Not uninteresting but low priority IMO.

I'm disappointed that they showed the same side-mission three times and barely did anything different each time. "Oh look you can use the strength option to skip this fight! But nah, we're never going to click it." I suspect those "negotiation" options at the end with the corporate mage are Bioware-style flavor. I would hope so since skipping content = boring.

It's concerning how they're three months away from release and don't have decking locked down. "Failure is not an option" indeed but if it ships awful, then what?

Insert clever insult here
If the designer places all items by had, he is determining beforehand what kind of stuff can or can't happen in a mission, while letting you access a dead man's inventory opens up the possibility of having a less "on rails" game. The designer just sets up the situation, he doesn't make sure it will go this or that way.
Only if there's a ready-made blueprint with random equipment. Otherwise the designer still has to choose what equipment each foe is carrying and you can then only loot that.

As for ammunition, it's a shame if it's unlimited. While as a GM, I never bothered to track regular ammo, since it was such a meaningless chore, I did track all speciality ammo. I really, really, hope that speciality ammo is in but in limited quantities and not some fucking retarded perk like in the new XCOM.

(snip...)

Sure, but my point is that, if loot dropping is the norm rather than the exception, you open the door for a whole lot of interactions the designer might not thing of in first place. Whereas, if you need to set up a script to create the loot an enemy drops at any point, then he is probably only going to do that when it is important for your module. That is, if you thought in advance of something to do with that piece of equipment.

Alex, I think you're going to be disappointed by the openness (or lack there of) by this game. It seems much more focused on getting certain things right and not worrying about the rest.

Just watched the video, sound like they want to sell dlc of costumes, which is lame, but as long as the game is good.

I'm disappointed that they showed the same side-mission three times and barely did anything different each time. "Oh look you can use the strength option to skip this fight! But nah, we're never going to click it.".
It seems like they haven't implemented those paths yet, since they specifically followed the exact same place, but it doesn't seem like they would be hard to implement either.

It's concerning how they're three months away from release and don't have decking locked down. "Failure is not an option" indeed but if it ships awful, then what?

I get the feeling that they wan't to milk this with DLC as much as they can, that is worrisome to say the least.

I hope that the DLC is at least worth while additions instead of "more costumes" "more guns" "more horses".

Yeah. That is the one BAD thing with HBS. They really love the whole DLC crap. But they do need to make some funds for further development. So I am a bit more forgiving about it.

I'm hoping they more do a real expansion with this (provided the game sells well).

If their games are good in all the importand fronts, and they seem to have their heart in the right place so far, and i'm inclined to forgive the whole DLC thing. Especialy if it's not overpriced.

Harebrained Schemes pushes release date of new game from January 2013 to either May or June due to increased scope.

And glad they DID move the date back. Because this is looking sweet so far. <3

Now I wish they would answer some more question in the QA forum.

Yeah, I'm glad too. For these reasons, and more, as I have very little time to play anything right now, and I wouldn't want to miss out on taking part in the release hype. I'm selfish like that.

Unfortunately they have been quite clear that it's their strategy and i dislike that very much too.
It's the only thing that bother me about this game.
I also hope that it will be at least quite big DLC but it's not the feeling i have right now.
Well 15 for the game is damn cheap anyway, especially when you consider the editor and the free Berlin DLC for the backers.

I pretty sure the Berlin DLC will be good. Other wise they are going to be screwed. With the (hopeful) success of this game, they now want to basically focus on making Shadowrun games. I'm just hoping if this is successful they do a good old fashioned expansion. Stuff that adds features to the game, engine enhancements and more content etc... And hopefully a DM like multi-player client.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Hasn't the in app purchase obstrusiveness of their game Strikefleet Omega been perceived as the worst problem of the game? It was not too bad in Crimson Steam Pirates, though (free chapter 1, Chapter 2 and 3 had to be purchased).

Was just reading the Shadowrun almanac when i came upon this section:

EuroAir Flight 329 Flight Recorder, September 23, 2041
22:56h
EA329: Uh, that dragon is still coming towards us, and fast—really fast.
We are doing an emergency descent to level one ve, er, one four zero.
TA: Con rm you wish to descend to flight level one four zero?
EA329: Right. We have already commenced.
TA: Fine, roger, you are clear to descend immediately to flight level
one four zero.
22:57h
EA329: Roger. It would be good if, wait, what’s he doing? Is that...
EA329: [Roaring noise]
TA: Repeat ER329.
EA329: He hit us with some sort of spell. We just lost two engines.
One and two.
EA329: [Sound of a loud thump]
22:57h
TA: Do you request a full emergency? Repeat, a full emergency?
EA329: Afirmative! at’s, dammit, that’s Charlie Charlie.
TA: Roger, full emergency is declared.
EA329: [More roaring. A screeching noise.]
EA329: Shit. Shit. Cabin pressure is dropping. I think he’s breached.
22:58h
EA329: [Sound of the steward. Unintelligible.]
EA329: One of the passengers…one of the passengers is fighting it. I
think he’s a mage.
TA: What is your heading? Are you still…
EA329: [Fire alarms buzz]
TA: What is your status 329.
22:59h
EA329: We’ve got re in the main cargo deck. It’s like fraggin’ reworks
out there. We’re…
EA329: [Loud thump. Alarms.]
TA: Status 329.
EA329: He hit us! He hit us! We’re…
EA329: [Sounds of engines increasing]
EA329: Up dammit! Up dammit! Negative. I said no. ree seven.
TA: 329. We’re going to route a…
EA329: Did he get him? Did he?
23:00h
TA: 329. Do you read me?
EA329: No! I mean yes, Transit, we...
EA329: Very loud crash.
EA329: Oh, god! I love you Allie.
[END TRANSCRIPT]

> Anyone ever figure out why Sirrurg attacked the plane?
> /dev/grrl
> Nope. 230 people killed and as far as we know, Sirrurg was just bored that afternoon.
> Sticks

I think that pretty much sums up the awesomeness of the setting.

Ammo is unlimited but you must spend an AP to reload.

[the release of the game] We've gone on record as saying May/June.

Will there be class limits as to who can have ware implanted? Or can i put dermal plate into my mage? Also with taking on another class would there be specific cyberware required? Such as a shaman needing a datajack before becoming a decker?

If you're willing to take the Essence hit, you can take the cyber.

[on Yakuza and Mafia in game] Oh, we love organized crime too. But we don't like spoilers so we're not going to say.

I am amazed how much people can whine about unlimited ammo. This game will feature Orks and Trolls that could bench-press a Chevy, but if they carry more than 100 rounds of ammo it will ruin your sense of what? Belief? Cost-benefit?

If ammo is unlimited the status of special ammo is in question, friend.

Fantasy doesn't make retarded shit acceptable. The only way the fantasy defence would apply would be if the gun in question would be magical and had an enchantment that would make it never run out of ammo.

Also, most of automatic weapons can very quickly burn through carried ammo.
