Shadowrun Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition

Yeah, it's great. Died about four times in the first mission.

Writing seems great so far, and it is very atmospheric. I know how this one is going to play out - it is like playing Dragonfall again, but with a completely new setting and story. Just what I wanted. Feels like I'm in safe hands.

What a year of fucking incline.

What the fuck is killing you guys?

Spirits summoned from garbage piles, etc. appear to be much stronger this time around and have no chance of breaking free and becoming hostile (although they do have a round limit, I am unsure of the duration). I suspect only the fetishes have a chance to go rogue (as there is now a shaman totem that can set all nearby spirits to 0% break chance).

Poor character build I think. Hoping I can fix it as I pick up more karma. I decided to go Elf melee this time around (I went SMG in SRR and shotgun in Dragonfall). I usually go Elf because I'm an etiquettefag. It turns out enemies can take me down fairly quickly even though I put some points into Body. I probably should put some points into Quickness to dodge their attacks instead.

Check out the 3 point SS bonus (Shaman totem). There is one that reduces your chance to be hit (I assume by everything) by 10%.

I played it briefly- walked around, done first mission for Cheng.
Scenery is great, good that they dropped tablets, because this level of variation and size of assets was impossible in old engine. Heoi is beautiful, Walled City is amazing. Portraits are levels above ones from DMS and DF. Music is really cool, I like that it's more ambient, especially with all those different music and sound fx on small areas, everything blends nicely. Companions seems to be p. cool, I can't wait to find rigger and ghoul. I like new Matrix and gui changes. Surprisingly this game performs on my shitty laptop much better than DF.

Yeah, I was surprised when water one in the tutorial disappeared before it managed to do anything useful. I think that duration was 3 rounds. Also it seems that they have lower hit chance.

I summoned one on the Bao mission that hit the two enemies near it at like 94% or so.

EDIT: It did AP and regular damage to boot.

* Complains AI is too easy
* Turns down difficulty
:|

Never said combat was too easy, said it was retarded. Gameplay wise, design wise and AI wise it's one of the worst I've seen in a long time. Think last time I couldn't even bear to do some fights and ALT-F4 midway out of sheer boredom was in D:OS.

Gotcha, so you'd rather turn down the hp or whatever and just get it over with. Makes sense. Changing emoticon from :| to :salute:

If this is like the previous titles, difficulty doesn't scale stats at all, just accuracy (presumably for you and them).

What I want to see is what happens if a mage invests in the Cyber skills that give you extra essence. At the worst you've got a mage with augmentation and no essence penalty, at best you've got a mage with cooldown bonuses from additional essence.

So I read this post and thought to myself "Whoa, this guy must be quite the connoisseur of TB combat. Surely, if I look at his post history, I will find many a contribution to the JA2 thread!".

Actual result: Post about replaying PoE on PotD with a custom party.

I didn't play the highest diff on previous ones because the large penalty to accurracy isn't hard its just annoying.

Didn't think this was coming out for a couple of weeks. Just started by first playthrough of ToEE. Guess that shit is going on the back burner.

And then noticed my join date and realized that I wasn't around 15 years ago. No? How about being able to enjoy multiple genres? Not that either?
If SR combat was ANYWHERE close to JA2, you can be sure I wouldn't have posted my disappointment for SR:HK. It's not so I just want to try and enjoy the writing like I did in the first two "episodes", while avoiding/breezing through combat as fast as possible. You find SR:HK combat as good as JA2, go ahead and enjoy the shit out of it. I don't is all.

edit: Hang on, is this the Harebrained Schemes sponsored hype thread? My bad. I'll get the fuck out.

It wasn't that large (unless you hit the reload bug).

Nor did I consider it annoying, though I never played the upgraded version. :M

Insert clever insult here
Played the first full day in-game.

PROS
Lot of different checks
Prettier than before
Music just as good if not even better
Writing is great so far
Combat is mostly great
Multiple options to go through a mission
New Matrix is fucking cool

CONS
-I hate the new karma usage window, why not show all of them at once since we have the screen space on PCs
-Enemies seem to focus on the PC regardless of the situation
-I don't like that spirits summoned from the environment have a time duration only
-That hacking minigame is going to be a massive pain in the butt eventually

Thanks for those who watched the stream and commented.

Took that skill at the start, I now have 6.5 essence and some claws that I didn't manage to try. Should I hope for some mage augmentations along the way?
You should grab some spells and see what kind of bonuses you get for having extra Essence I think is the idea.
