KickStarter Serpent in the Staglands Pre-Release Thread

Got bored and left

Our target audience isn't teens, so hoping that might help distinguish the two games

Shots fired! Teens or otherwise, the target audiences are clearly different, so I wouldn't lose much sleep over TW3 releasing in May. I do hope that the hype dies down by the time you release, though, so that you get more coverage from gaming outlets, their quality be damned. Y'all need alll the attention you can get.

Just wait for the release screen-shot comparison to show how badly Staglands has compromised to get stable FPS on ancient machines! I hear there won't even be anti-aliasing options in the options menu.

Really looking forward to this. GoG should get a move on already, since a game like this is right up the alley of the GOG crowd. This game deserves great sales, seeing as what you pulled off with such a low amount of money.

Question though: are there any plans to turn the kickstarter goals that weren't reached into paid expansions, if the game sells well enough? That final stretchgoal in particular is very tantalizing.

Buy it directly, support Whalenought. It'd probably increase the chance of those stretch goals ever happening in a patch or an expansion sometime down the road.

Then again, supporting those guys for being completely mad in the best possible way should be reason enough.

Oh, I already pledged to the kickstarter. I'm just talking about getting on GOG to generate more sales, because the GOG user base should respond really positively to a game like this. It's got old-school charm done right, rather than being a cheap cash-in. It's a shame that GOG hasn't confirmed it yet, because you want the different releases of the game to coincide as much as possible.

I don't play videogames any more than I just hoard them. Should I hoard and not play this one too?

I paid for it but I'll have zero time to play it. I've been spending a good 6 hours a day crying when I'm not working.

I need to restain myself from crying once in a while tho, as i have not backed this and didnt get my hand on the handmade journal :negative:

You do know it is about 30h for one play? Unless your social life is about spending 4-5h per day with friends, you can fit 30h somewhere.

What is expected play time for this game and how much replayability does it have?

We've said it's around similar size to Fallout, but it plays a bit uniquely in structure and has a lot more puzzles (it's no Riven, but expect some quality adventure time devoted to them). The peninsula and story are both a big puzzle that needs to be put together, and chunks of that could be blocked out or made available depending on what choices you make with settlers or other forces. This all culminates at the ending, where choices you've made filtered down the ending scenario quite a bit. It's kind of designed to have the player be lost their first playthrough figuring out the story, and in another try to find the different scenarios to open up other endings or the trump cards needed to get a different ending. It's very gamey like that, and doesn't tell you when you're playing well or not, so it takes some experimentation.

You used the F-word, good sir, and I applaud you for it:salute:

Game looks interesting, and I hope to get it via GOG. Are you launching it at 20 EURO?
If that is the case, I might wait for a price drop..

Yeah sadly life got often other plans for me. Gf + Family + 12h shift + random shit that life give me without notifying. But...when life's a bitch , you just need to fuck her harder~ Still , im not scared that i wont play it. And from what im seeing and feeling . this game will warrant more than 1 playthrough.

EDIT: Transfiguring Roar , aint that fisting arm getting tired? If not and/or you are ERYFKRAD new fisting vessel ( that sounded wrong ) , you are a real trooper :salute:

They removed your ability to fist? The self ejectors got left alone though. There are certainly some agenda's on the codex I cannot approve of.
