Sega delisting many old games

What about Mobius? Was it mentioned in one of the old Sonic instruction booklets? Or was Sonic Adventure series correct in just calling it Earth (never reverting in the first place)?

Pretty sure that comes from the ‘90s cartoon with the resistance fighters. I don’t remember Sonic’s world having a specific name in the original games. The ‘90s OVA calls it Planet Freedom, and it’s got floating island. Looking it up, it says the named Mobius comes from Sega of America, and that it was Sonic Bible they made for the series; but I don’t think the name appears in the game manuals, and I think it may have first shown up in the cartoon.

I never got the impression Sonic was meant to take place on Earth in the old games. Seemed more like it was some fantasy world like Oz or something.
