I remember having a cartridge of Ecco the Dolphin. I don't know how I got it, because I didn't ask to buy it, I never wanted it, and yet, somehow, it ended up in my possession. I don't think I ever made it past the first level as it was horrible

What's happening to the SEGA Classics games?
Select games and bundles will be delisted from virtual stores, becoming unavailable for new purchases.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
They better make a goddamn new collection because this is SUPER bullshit
Why delist literal classics UNLESS you have a rerelease planned in mind

You think so eh? If SEGA becomes like Nintendo they just might be assholes and nudge the guy to stay in line. Anytime you use a big name someone will take notice and investigate. It only take that dude to have one link to the high-seas to get a stern warning or worse.

Yes, so far Sega has supported fan activities, no need to go paranoid

As for the website, its a list of games, a simple database, not even Nintendo could do anything about a site listing their games

It's a pretty good game tbf if you stick with it.

Not perfect, but it's got some great challenges, a wild story, and an awesome atmosphere.

SEGA are no angels, but they're a far cry from Nintendo. Sonic Mania was a fan project which morphed into an official one. Nintendo would just shut that shit down straight away.

I help with a a gaming Podcast too, and almost no other gaming companies strike the channel for using music or suchlike, whereas Nintendo are at them all the fucking time.

Yeah, the whole striking down streamers who do Nintendo games is moronic to the nth-degree

New Sega merch is out on market. Delist games, then sell hoodies and shit? Anyway, I wouldn't be all that excited about their remakes or w/e they are planning. I wonder if these games, if they come out, will just feel lifeless and hollow.

They’re probably just gearing up for a new collection. Sega released Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection during the 360 era, and this Sega Genesis Classics one during the PS4 era, so it’s probably just some new bigger collection they’re putting together.

The Sega Genesis Classics bundle also isn’t very good. They started releasing games in little batches on Steam a year after the Ultimate Genesis Collection came out on consoles, and in 2016 added that nice little 3D room menu. But doing shit like just changing your button configurations is a pain in comparison to the 360 version. It’s been a number of years now, they don’t have this on PS5 at all, a new Nintendo system is coming out soon, so they’re probably coming out with another one.

If they’re removing Jet Set Radio, it could mean a collection that goes beyond just Sega Genesis games this time. Ultimate had some arcade games, as well as the Master System games Phantasy Star and Golden Axe Warrior.

When did artists become so expensive? Dreamcast era, they gave Crazy Taxi a nice painting for a cover. Later releases, including digital, bad CG art, and now this hideous CG shirt/sweater. Couldn't even use the artwork for the Gamecube and PS2 versions because Dreamcast covers were square. Jet Set Radio sweater not awful only because they drew so much art for it when they made the Dreamcast version. Never wear clothes with ads or commercial art on them, though.

I'd accept this if a much higher quality collection is in the works. It would be especially great if it were made up of native ports of these titles, the way Super Mario World and a Link to the Past got fan made ones a few years back. An official compilation aught to compete with fan emulation as much as possible, and since SEGA (hypothetically) has the source code for at least some of their back catalogue lying around, it'd be a lot easier for them to do something of the sort.

I believe I went over phantasy star and there was a video stating how nintendo actually had and version with many QOLs. Sega had dipped itself into online multiplay and just resources for a while. It seems like they'd perfect this formula. Companies are damn fickle esp with licenses. I only just found out Goodman Games lost the license rights to older TSR/WOTC games so they had to pull their OAR series off the shelves. Why Grimtooth was dropped is a puzzler. OAR1-7 is now ebay or wherever and prices have jumped to ridiculous amounts. While this is digital pulls it makes me wonder if it stirs the physical hornet's nest of sellers to rub their hands greedily anticipating saps eagerly wanting that cart or box or manual.

But some of these games don't have the crummy retro emulator launcher that I barely remember.

Hm... Yeah, they probably will release them again. Like the Sonic Generations rerelease (which was also preceded by delisting of the old version), where Knuckles no longer makes fun of Sonic's weight and Amy no longer has a crush on Sonic, a bunch of them will have their content changed for BlackRock and friends, in exchange for good ESG score/funding. Mega Drive games will be untouched, because they come in emulators and are more complicated to alter. Besides, removing just the ones that will be altered would make it too obvious. Fans will be ignored because it's not like they bought a product and then it was changed. The old product was already gone.

Does sonic still eat chili dogs? Does he go to Sonic? Fucking wasted opportunities by both franchises.

Did Sonic Team start the chilli dogs thing or was it the American animators? I've never seen chilli dogs in the Japanese content.

I dunno. But Chili dawgs are way cool and that sonic was livin' the life. Once they turned into DBZ Super Sonic I was rolling my eyes so far back the exorcist thought I was possessed. Yuck!

Chili Dogs being part of Sonic comes from the old Archie Comics comics. It started there, and then moved into the different American cartoons. I don’t think chili dogs shows up in the video games at any point in the ‘90s, not even in Spinball and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, which had robots from the cartoons.

Sonic was going Super Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 1992. You probably didn’t even know what Super Saiyan’s and Dragon Ball Z even were when Sonic the Hedgehog 2 came out.

What about Mobius? Was it mentioned in one of the old Sonic instruction booklets? Or was Sonic Adventure series correct in just calling it Earth (never reverting in the first place)?
