So does that mean Encased has officially been abandoned? What a shame. That game had a lot more potential than whatever this is supposed to be. A System Shock clone inside of an isometric ARPG?

Considering the fuckery with Encased which was COMPLETELY frontloaded in prologue and chapter 1 with other chapters barren and devoid of content I would be VERY wary of this

Russia sponsors more or less propaganda hidden under the guise of video games. Don't see anything like it here (yet).
Maybe it has some. From steam page in Russian:

The year is 2062. The companies ARKA (Russia) and Huang di (China) compete with the British BUF corporation for primacy in space.
Americans notably missing.
So, probably similar idea as Tommorow War Universe - Americans are not really a nation, and only indulge in hedonism; so they don't have drive and stoicism that comes from national pride to explore the stars.

It’s a joy to see Russian language and fonts in a game and it not being a localization. We need more of this.
On the other hand the visual style is kinda inconsistent, although I can clearly see they aimed to recreate the late Soviet futurism which is generally heavily underutilized

Russia

In the mid-21st century, Russia is a leading space power. In the 2030s, Russian space stations were built in the orbits of Mars, Venus, and Jupiter. In 2048, Russian cosmonauts were the first to land on the surface of Titan , and in 2054 they reached Uranus. An expedition to Neptune is planned for 2070.
Russia is a pioneer in space technology. Its developments, including "Reflection" are often the target of industrial espionage. Like other countries, Russia conducts most of its space exploration around the giant planets using unmanned vehicles and robots. Russia advocates for the neutrality of space and an end to the space arms race, but is forced to participate in this race itself in order not to lose its status as the world's leading space explorer.
Russia 2062, image #1

China has been assisting Russia in developing defense mechanisms for space stations, satellites, and other space objects. Russia has established civil and defense technology exchanges with many space-faring nations, such as India, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and South Korea. Together with China, Russia repelled an attack by robots from an unknown party on its station on Titan in 2061. The battle on Titan served as a pretext for developing new agreements on the rules for the exploration of Saturn's moons, but as of 2062, these agreements have not been signed.
Timeline:
2030 — foundation of the ARKA company.
2039 - The first station in Jupiter's orbit is created.
2048 - landing on the surface of Titan .
2055 - A permanent base is established on the surface of Titan .
2061 - battle with unknown drones on Titan .

ARCH

The basis of military and civilian technologies in Russia is simplicity of production, energy efficiency and functionality. This is, at least, how the ARKA company advertises its products. Founded in 2030, the company started with civilian technologies, but later delved into the field of military and space research. As of 2062, ARKA divisions are represented in fifty countries around the world, but the company's centers of influence are Russia and China . In Russia, the company is based in Sochi and Kazan. These cities are where ARKA's industrial and defense capacities are concentrated. In China, there is close cooperation with the Huangdi defense concern .
The company is not a monopoly, but it plays a leading role in the field of space exploration and robotics in the world. The company's most high-profile project, created in collaboration with Huang-di , is the " Sun Shield ". ARKA also influenced the development of the "Reflection" technology. Protecting the company's technology from industrial espionage and external interference became one of the most difficult tasks for ARKA in the 2060s.
Russia 2062, image #2

By 2062, the ARKA company will include the following projects:
 1. ARCA Tech: Exploring Saturn's Rings.
 2. ARKA Synthesis: medical developments.
 3. ARKA Auto: development of vehicles.
 4. ARKA Ikar: developments in the field of AI
 5. ARKA Element: various home appliances, including robotic and AI-enabled ones.
 6. ARCH Subject: smart and ordinary furniture.
 7. ARKA House: development of modular houses.
Timeline:
2030 - Billionaire Viktor Vengerov founds ARCA.
2034 - ARKA launches the first space station into space.
2040 — Dmitry Gavrilov and his colleagues receive a grant from ARCA and create the Reflection system.
2042 - The Chinese Huang Di project is created with the participation of ARCA .
2052 - ARKA receives exclusive contracts to protect several high-tech manufacturing areas in Russia.
2059 — Victor Vengerov leaves ARKA. The company's board of directors bets on turning ARKA into a profit-making business.
2061 - ARCA shuts down Project Reflection due to AIs making it unprofitable

Exploration of Saturn

The development of the Saturn system began in Russia in the 2040s. For some time, Russia became the only space country actively developing Saturn using communication technologies with unmanned vehicles. Britain, India and other countries then began to develop the system.
Russia used the Reflection installations to control the machines. The imperfect and dangerous for operators technology turned out to be extremely effective: Reflection allowed remote control of robots in real time. People also mastered the system: in 2048, Russian cosmonauts Aidaan Tolosh and Pyotr Belavin were the first to land on the surface of Titan.
The exploration of the Jupiter system was hampered by the hostile conditions on the surfaces of its largest satellites. However, Jupiter was often used to speed up flights to Saturn using gravity assists.
Selecting a satellite for synchronization via Reflection

Selecting a satellite for synchronization via "Reflection"

History of "Reflection"

"Reflection" is a technology for connecting robots to human consciousness. The technology works through the threads of the ether - a medium for transmitting information at superluminal speeds within the Solar System. "Reflection" operators on Earth control robots in real time at a distance of hundreds of millions of kilometers.
Russian space base on Enceladus

Russian space base on Enceladus
Dmitry Gavrilov created the technology in 2040. The founder of ARKA, Viktor Vengerov, was the only one who believed in the concept and allocated a grant for research. In the early 2040s, stations in the Saturn system were equipped with Reflection receivers. Reflection operators accelerated the development of the system: they established the production of new robots and unmanned ships on satellites. The ground installations of Reflection remained under the control of Russia and ARKA, but the operators assisted the space programs of many countries.
Earth module Reflections

Earth module "Reflections"
Huangdi's Titan base was built in 2048 with the help of the Reflection operators. This was made possible by the cooperation between ARCA and Huangdi . Materials and robots for the construction of the Reflection module were sent to the satellite by rocket. Two operators controlled the robots during the construction of mining and assembly facilities.

Operators of "Reflection"

Candidates for the "Reflection" operators must have knowledge in many areas of science, be agile and quick to react. But the most important quality for them is the ability to subtly sense the surrounding space.
Due to the low gravity on Saturn's moons, robots cannot move the same way as on Earth. Even a heavy object can be sent into outer space if it is thrown upward with force. Operators must have a perfect sense of the robot's position in space in order to jump over long distances, repair and assemble mechanisms in conditions of cold unimaginable on Earth.
The mind of an unprepared person, when connected to the "Reflection", will be overwhelmed by a wave of unsorted data - visual, sound, temperature, radio waves. That is why one of the best operators of the "Reflection" was Elena Smirnova - a singer and musician. Elena's perfect pitch allows her to perceive information coming from robots faster than other operators.

Threads of Ether

Ether threads were discovered by accident in the 2030s during research into gravitational waves. The threads available to humanity do not extend beyond the solar system — they depend on solar gravity. The name “ether” refers to a theory common in the 19th century that there is an all-pervading medium that connects matter and waves throughout the universe.
The special theory of relativity states that information and matter cannot be transmitted at speeds greater than the speed of light. Ether threads allow this limitation to be circumvented - the beginning and end of the thread are instantly synchronized with each other.
The nature of the threads is still controversial. Practice turned out to be simpler than theory: receivers of ether threads are simple and cheap devices, they are installed in almost all robots and drones. In space, ether threads provide communication between interplanetary ships and Earth. Threads are also used by "Reflection", a technology that connects a person's consciousness to a robot on the other side of the Solar System.

Kemmel's nucleus

All the energy of the ARKA laboratory is now directed at the Kemmel Core, a device that merges multidirectional ether threads and allows them to be precisely aimed at an object in deep space. A miniature version of such a core is in each Reflection device.
The ARKA laboratories in the Sochi area were built in the 2040s and became the centers of research into ether threads. Almost all of the "Reflection" installations used by operators from 2045 until the program's closure were assembled here. The ARKA installations were significantly superior to the prototypes that Professor Gavrilov and his students assembled at Sochi University in the early 1940s.

Hotel "Prometheus"

The Prometheus Hotel is part of a large resort that ARKA built near Agepsta. The resort, in addition to Prometheus, includes restaurants, a sports complex with a swimming pool, funiculars, and mountaineering and skiing bases.
Prometheus was built during the pandemic of the 2040s, so it is divided into isolated sections where patients could be placed if necessary. Strong doors and reinforced glass protect not only from the harsh mountain weather, but also from robots. That is why Prometheus was chosen as an evacuation site during the crisis with ether threads and crazy robots. Its own generator and water source will allow people to survive until help arrives.
The hotel has a concert hall where many stars have performed, including Inata Lugovaya, the group "Pirozhki Giperiona" and, of course, Elena Smirnova. Many Olympic champions have trained on the ski slopes, and almost all Russian cosmonauts of our generation have been trained in the pressure chambers.
Russia 2062, image #10

There are also similar walltexts about China and Britain. TLDR: Russia and China are frendos, Eternal Brit is doing Eternal Brit things, and main enemies in the game are british robots gone wild.

It looks good. The plot seems to be russian sf combined with some geopolitics ... which is quite original in some aspects.

The first part of Encased was actually good. The devs have now one game under their belt therefore they should have move experience.

I don't understand the ruckus. This should be better than Encased.

People do not change mr Toro. They only get worse with years. Encased had a strong ch 1 and prologue and the rest was a scam. Dunno if you played it, but the main city hub (the game's Baldurs Gate so to speak) was a ghost town, for example.

I've played Encased on release. I know it has a lot of issues. The content was frontloaded. The game was clearly unfinished. However it was not completly shit and the first chapter was actually decent to good.

So, I agree that the devs or the publisher (most likely Deep Silver) deserve all the shit in the world however I'm willing to give the devs another chance. I don't know. Let me be a dreamer.

It is. They have Midjourney logo on their site.

the first chapter was actually decent to good.
They said game is short (several hours to beat) and promised c&c. Maybe the whole game is just like Chapter 1 of Encased.

Article from Russian garbage plebs gaming site:

Saturn: How We Went From Platformer to RPG
Hi, we are a small team Ninsar.Games. This year we are releasing Saturn - a tactical RPG with roguelike elements.

Plot

The game takes place in the near future, in 2062. Earth technologies are rapidly developing, and humanity is exploring and colonizing the Solar System. The discovery of a new means of communication, ether threads, accelerated the exploration of space. The network of ether threads extends throughout the Solar System, and information is transmitted along the threads at superluminal speeds: the beginning and end of the thread are instantly synchronized with each other. The discovery of ether threads made it possible to create "Reflection" - a technology for connecting robots to human consciousness. "Reflection" significantly accelerated the exploration of the Saturn system, and in the 2040s, extensive stations and mining complexes appeared on Saturn's satellites.

Russian base on Enceladus, a satellite of Saturn

Russian base on Enceladus, a moon of Saturn
The rapid development of the Solar System is interrupted in 2062 - a mysterious signal from the orbit of Saturn reached Earth and machines connected to the ether threads began to attack their creators both on Earth and in space. The main character of the game is a Russian scientist named Akim Kovalev, one of the operators of "Reflection". Akim has a difficult task: in a limited time, save the world from an unknown threat that forced robots to rebel against people.

Akeem fights British robots

History of creation

Saturn was originally conceived as a completely different project. The game was a 2.5D puzzle platformer, similar in genre and visual style to Somerville and Little Nightmares . But the setting was the same as the current version of the game.

Concept of one of the puzzles

Concept of one of the puzzles
While working on the concept, we decided to settle on the RPG genre. The game world is inspired by classic science fiction writers: A.R. Belyaev, S.G. Lem and the Strugatsky brothers. The theme of space travel and futurism are close to the development team, so Saturn found its unique niche in these genres.

Entrance to the Huang-Di location

Gameplay

Saturn retains the core elements of classic RPGs, but the game also offers some unusual mechanics for the genre.
The first is cyclicality. The key to preventing the catastrophe is hidden in a chain of gradually occurring events. If it is not found, the player returns to the beginning of the cycle - the exit from the Reflection capsule. Restarting the cycle will allow you to make different decisions and see where they lead. Just like in the movies about a time loop.

Exit from the Reflection capsule
The second is time, which depends on the player's actions. Only 3 days are given to save the world, time determines and limits the player's choices, as in Pathologic and The Last Express . Time is also important in the combat system: it moves only when the player moves, as in Super Hot or Transistor .

Combat situation on Earth
Such flexibility of mechanics allows the player to experiment and get different outcomes at the end of the cycle. Do you want to stay home and just lie on the bed, staring at your phone? Now you can do it in the game.

About choosing a setting

The choice of the Russian setting was a conscious decision. We decided to rely on what is close and understandable to us. In Saturn, we, as a team from Russia, want to reflect our own culture and reality.
The Russian setting of Saturn is not stereotypical images with nesting dolls and balalaikas, but a realistic depiction of the world, people and their relationships. We explore modern innovations and try to project them 40 years ahead to understand how life will change.
With this approach we try to achieve depth and realism. We are interested in how the audience will perceive our vision of the future.

ARKA is a major organization in the Russia of the future

ARKA is a major organization in the Russia of the future

Release and support

Saturn's development is nearing completion. The game's release is scheduled for the second half of October this year on PC and mobile devices: on Steam, VK Play, Google Play, App Store and RuStore. After the release, we will monitor all feedback from players, fix bugs and add content that we did not have time to include in the release. Follow the news on our social networks: we will announce the release date soon.

if it is truly state sponsored there will be repercussions if this happens so it won't. it will be their greatest game. western developers are dying while the bear awakens from hibernation.

About China:
China
China in 2062 is the most populous country: 2 billion people live there, about 23% of the world's population. The country pursues a policy of protectionism and rarely interferes directly in international affairs.
China has become a world leader in developing defense technologies, despite lagging behind Russia and Britain in robotics and spacecraft development . Chinese cyber defense systems are considered the most advanced, and are often copied by other countries. The largest Chinese stations in the Saturn region are on Enceladus and Tethys.
Much of the interaction between China and Russia occurs through the Russian-Chinese Huang-Di project, the main sponsor of which is ARKA . ARKA units , with the help of Chinese technology, provide security at many Russian technological facilities on Earth and in space.
China 2062, image #1

China helped create the Russian military-industrial company ARKA , which is responsible for the security of many technological production facilities both on Earth and in space. While on Earth we have to defend ourselves primarily against cyber attacks and espionage, in space it sometimes comes down to real battles involving armed robots.
ARKA's relationship with the Chinese authorities is far from cloudless, however. On the one hand, the Huang-di project, created with ARKA's participation , successfully cooperates with the PLA National Defense University in creating new types of weapons. The company's independence goes beyond what is usually allowed to Chinese private business. Wang Shi, the new head of ARKA's space programs , has so far skillfully smoothed over all contradictions with the Chinese government.
Timeline:
2059 - repelling a drone swarm attack on Enceladus .
2057 - Permanent bases on the surface of Saturn's four largest moons.
2055 - Full-scale launch of the Solar Shield.
2048 - Huangdi's first base in the Saturn system, on Titan .
2042 - The Huang Di Project is created in China.
2039 - disaster at the Chinese base on Ganymede, suspension of the space program.

Huang-di

"Huang-di was not a cruel tyrant who enjoyed fighting. He was a god who could warn of war and protect his people from all its horrors."
The Huangdi Defense Concern was created to protect China's space assets. In 2039, the country's space program suffered a catastrophic implosion that killed several dozen crew members. The implosion was presumably the result of sabotage, which is why China suspended the program until it could create means to protect the stations from external threats. The project was founded in 2042 as a manufacturer of space defense technologies, with ARKA helping to create Huangdi .
Huang-di in 2062 is a large corporation developing military and civilian technologies. The concern's activities are mainly related to space. Huang-di's greatest achievement is the creation of the Sun Shield laser anti-missile satellite system. The defense concern's complexes are built in the ancient Chinese style even outside its home country. The appearance of the defense robots in the complexes evokes associations with Eastern mysticism.
China 2062, image #2

The concern was initially created as a manufacturer of space defense technologies, but has grown into a large corporation that is engaged in military and civilian technologies, mainly related to space. One of the divisions of the concern is based in Sochi, headed by Chong Ju - a bureaucrat for whom a set of corporate rules is more important than questions of morality or scientific progress.
Huang-di is partly subordinate to the Chinese government and the Chinese army, the PLA. Huang-di has a long-term contract with ARKAand Viktor Vengerov on cooperation in the field of robotics and Ether Threads. Huang-di's autonomy has often raised questions among the Chinese leadership. And disagreements with ARKA are not uncommon. Wang Shi tries to smooth over contradictions between the two companies with varying success. Wang Shi is also one of the best experts on "Reflection". Shortly before the incident with Saturn and the robots, she decided to bring back the specialists associated with "Reflection" and recreate the technology for further use based on Huang-di's developments. But it is still unclear whether she will be able to agree on this with the board of directors.
Timeline:
2042 - The Huang Di Project is created in China.
2043 - First tests of laser anti-missile weapons in Earth orbit.
2055 - Full-scale launch of the Solar Shield.
2059 - Wang Shi and Chong Ju conclude a treaty of comprehensive mutual cooperation between ARCA and Huang-di.

Harbin Base on Titan

The Harbin base on Titan was built by Huangdi with the participation of ARKA in 2048. At first, it consisted of only a few uninhabited modules delivered from Earth. Harbin is located near the largest iron and nickel deposits. There are very few metals on Titan, but their extraction is important for the development of the Saturn system .
Construction on Titan's surface is a difficult task. In addition to temperatures of -180°C, Titan has high atmospheric pressure. Strong winds make it difficult to use aerial drones.
By 2062, the Harbin base had grown several dozen times. The station produces and processes half of the metals used in the Saturn system. Robots and modules for spaceships are also assembled here.
Harbin-based Reflections Module

Harbin-based Reflections Module

Construction of the Harbin base

The base was created thanks to the operators of Reflection. Materials and robots for the construction of the Reflection module were sent to the satellite on a rocket. Two operators controlled the robots during the construction of mining and assembly plants.
Then several hundred robots assembled right on Titan joined in the extraction of metals and other minerals. In a few months, the robotic builders erected a spacious space complex that comfortably accommodated dozens of taikonauts.
The Huangdi base on Titan receives crews several times a year. The rest of the time, the machines from the base are engaged in research on the surface of Titan and exploration of new deposits. Most of the construction robots were sent for recycling, but we cannot do without security robots - cases when people try to steal new developments from the base are happening more and more often.
Juan-di base entrance and Titane's ARK

Juan-di base entrance and Titane's ARK

Shield of the Sun

The laser anti-missile satellite system of the Sun Shield stations was created to prevent major military conflicts on Earth. The project was developed by the Chinese defense concern Huangdi in cooperation with the Russian company ARKA and the Russian government. The full-scale launch of the Sun Shield took place in 2055.
The Sun Shield-1 station is the central component of the system. The station controls a network of satellites that destroy intercontinental missiles at an altitude of 10 km and higher above the Earth's surface. The system detects missile launches using artificial intelligence and destroys them at a safe altitude with satellites. Each satellite shoots down up to 5 missiles per minute with laser installations.
The neutrality of the Solar Shield is ensured by the international presence at the stations of the system. The developers of the system believe in the deterrent potential of the Solar Shield and hope that the need for combat use of the system will not arise.
Huangdi monitors attempts to find vulnerabilities in the Sun Shield. The Shield's systems must be constantly upgraded to prevent other countries from discovering its weaknesses and taking the Sun Shield out of action - or developing missiles that the Shield cannot shoot down. Huangdi organizes the Shield's upgrades in cooperation with ARKA

About Britain:
Britain
Britain (United Kingdom) in 2062 is a confederation of five constitutional monarchies that conduct a common foreign policy. Britain is one of the top three space powers. The attitude towards other countries is based on the principles of pragmatic neutrality. These principles are characteristic of the Alliance of Western European States, of which Britain is a part. The Alliance replaced NATO and the EU.
Interaction between the world's nations in space is not neutral. British drones are suspected of sabotaging Saturn's moons , but there is insufficient evidence of involvement. The country's military technology is focused on carrying out covert strikes, using stealth technology, using paralyzing weapons, and hacking enemy computer systems. British bases are located on Saturn's major moons , including Phoebe and Mimas .
Britain 2062, image #1

In the 2040s, when large-scale exploration of the satellites of the giant planets began, Britain invested huge amounts of money in its space program and outpaced other countries in the development of robots and unmanned aerial vehicles. British robotics is based on the creation of fast and agile mechanisms that are characterized by a large amount of autonomy. The pinnacle of technology created in Britain is the android D36, the first machine that reliably copies human body tissue and is indistinguishable from a person without additional research.
The rise of competition, the fight for resources and technology, has led to international cooperation in space being replaced by competition. In addition to sabotage on Saturn's moons , China suspects Britain of involvement in the disaster at the Chinese base on Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, but cannot prove it. The software and hardware in British robots have become a tasty morsel for spacefaring nations trying to catch up, so the robots have been equipped with advanced defense mechanisms and then used for spy missions and covert operations.

BUF

The British Unmanned Forces (BUF) is a division of the British Space Fleet, created in 2040 to organize the work of unmanned vehicles, land, sea, air and space. If Britain has several dozen manned spacecraft by 2062, then the number of autonomous vehicles is estimated at hundreds of thousands. A significant part of them are robots and drones for military purposes, and they are under the jurisdiction of the BUF.
BUF robots are often equipped with stealth and sensor jamming technologies. Many are designed for sabotage and espionage. Unlike other space powers, BUF technology is relatively freely available on the market, and lightweight BUF robots are in service with many countries and companies.
Britain 2062, image #2

The British drone force is decentralized: each of the kingdoms that make up the United Kingdom created its own drone units, which were then incorporated into the BUF. As a result, the BUF has become an effective but difficult-to-manage structure. It is led by a unit of engineers and military personnel with experience in space and land operations. But in reality, most of the control “on the ground” is carried out by AIs. There are at least fifteen large AIs in the BUF, and skirmishes often break out between them for the top spots in the hierarchy.
The BUF AIs constantly compete with each other for resources and influence, while also defending their freedom from human control. In the current year 2062, three AIs play a key role: Essex, Invergordon, and Ballymaney, but other, younger AIs compete with them and try to discredit their elders in order to take their place. One of the goals of the BUF AIs is to find resources for new developments, and they do not hesitate to use the means to achieve their goals. Selling weapons to private clients, espionage, and sabotage are all permissible if the benefits outweigh the possible harm.
Britain has been trying to better organise the BUF in recent years to ensure greater control, supplementing the BUF with people who can control AI. BUF bases are located in orbit around colonised planets, satellites and Earth. They are often built near British civilian space facilities or incorporated into civilian facilities in a way that outsiders cannot detect.
The main areas of BUF research are:
 1. Unmanned aerial vehicles.
 2. Android spies.
 3. Communication through the threads of ether .
The BUF's main conflict with the ARCA and Huangdi in 2062 concerns the Solar Shield laser satellite missile defense system that China, with Russian help , has placed in Earth orbit. One of the BUF's goals is to disable the laser missile defense system, which will allow missile weapons to be used on Earth and restore Britain and its allies to their former military influence. Other goals include helping allies explore deep space and "borrowing" technology from other countries, including neutral ones.
BUF war materiel often ends up, either intentionally or accidentally, in the hands of other countries that clearly cannot afford to buy it, and in the hands of space exploration companies. Many of the raids on space stations carried out by BUF drones and robots are presented as attacks by third countries, not the UK. In many cases, this is true.
ARKA has repeatedly expressed concern about the approach of British stations to the orbit of satellites located in Russia's zone of influence .
Timeline:
2040 – creation of BUF.
2044 - Beginning of British expansion in the Jupiter and Saturn regions.
2057 - opening of the Elizabeth Lighthouse base in orbit around Saturn.
2061 - The trial of the sale of BUF military technology to private companies begins.

British Robots Gone Wild

Akim confronts the maddened British robots. We have long been warned about the danger of machines endowed with at least a rudimentary intelligence. But it turned out that it is not the intelligence that is more dangerous, but its absence. The threads of ether penetrated the electronics of the robots, turned the goals embedded in their programs inside out. They turned into mindless machines that destroy and kill. Most of the robots, fortunately, were not equipped with small arms, but they are dangerous in hand-to-hand combat, especially those made in Britain - they are distinguished by their speed and agility.

NATO and EU do not exist in the bright future.
