I'll show some of those more interesting unit cards if you don't mind.

I too had been messing with the PDF editor awhile back and some of these unit cards are very new to me so I myself don't think they've been in the files since the release. At least some of them are coming with the dlc tomorrow.

But here are the cards:

And some naval units too, corvus and harpax ships.

I managed to put that harpax thingy into the game one time and test it. It fires a harpoon into the enemy ship and drags it closer. Looks quite wonky though.

I really would like to see some Camel Cataphracts be put into the game.

Also the state of the game has become far worse than anticipated. The new Culture spread mechanic has made public order juggling even more of a pain and factions like Baktria are now unplayable due to the level of retardation that CA puts into their thought process. You now have to constantly deal with different cultures constantly causing upheaval problems and no longer able to fully wipe out a culture due to "traditional ideas" constantly in the background pushing in forcing people to spam temples to quell uprisings.

Actually, the description says the effects are just events (effect on harvest, morale, etc) - no actual graphics, so I wouldn't be too :bounce: bout it.

So I was active on the official forms but gave up. Is the game any good yet? I can't read the whole thread because I'm old and my mind wanders. Also my joints hurt when it's cold. Hey, I can tell you kids some stories about loading The Bard's Tale off tape on a Commodore 64 but my nurse is trying to medicate me at the moment. So shit or not? Also is the Gallic war war expansion worth it? Punic war expansion would have made more sense.

As it stands the siege AI problems have mostly been fixed. Other things though has either been left broken or been broken through patching such as barbarian factions apparently no longer properly generate ancillaries or the AI spamming the same shit tier armies then maxing out the army limit and never recruiting better troops. And things such as the new culture balancing system have made the game a supreme pain in the ass and from what I hear severely crippled early expansion due to no good research into happiness and culture aversion. What that'll do to the AI on the campaign is probably even worse than how they always grab a starving province and slowly kill themselves.

So it's a toss up, battles have mostly been fixed but the campaign map is even further in shambles then previously thought possible from half assed mechanics.

Any bigger mods available?

Divide et Impira is one of the less obnoxious ones with a few modders who actually come up with interesting stuff like the seasons and expanded tradition trees and such. Plenty of herp there but at least they mostly try to improve on the base game instead of just throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it. Recently removed Onagers though, which once again made sieges lame as fuck. That sucks and the base game is still pretty much shit. Still, best of the bunch so far.

After dealing with some youtube copyright bullshit the second part of the Sane Critique video is up, watch out, it's a long one!

And apparently CA has been deleting links to his videos in the official forums, cause he dared to use the word "Cunt". This after they made a video of a guy liberally swearing at a camera while eating chilis. Hypocrites.

Yep, seen it all - 100% agree. If you're new to the series you may think it's "fun" for a few hours then throw it away and mark it as another "finished" game(if you auto-resolve all the battles perhaps). It won't be forming online cults like the previous one has.
One thing is sure, they will never fix it.

I think what really struck me as odd were the intro videos and voice-overs. Hot damn, what happened there? It seems like Creative Assembly just stopped giving a damn.

SEGA happened.
Publishers can fuck things up to a certain point.
I can see some stuff as imposed by the publisher(like the "magical abilities", the politics system, unit/battle speed, etc) but the rest... it's all on CA. I don't think Sega asked them to build an even shittier AI than in the previous games

Just finished watching it myself, damm, the way he ends it really did make me sad :(. He, like me and so many other long-time Total War fans don't want to shit on CA because we enjoy making fun of their stupidity, we shit on them because because we want them to get their crap together and go back at making great, unique games, but they keep messing something up, to different degrees, in every. single. game. For Christ's Sake...

I can't see publisher imposing stuff like that, more like rushed release, cut contend for DLC ,massive mainstreaming the whole game, stupid people at important positions.

Here's a question for all the Total War fans: will there ever be a Total War game set in the 20th century? And should there a game in that time period in the first place?

Depressing coming to this thread and seeing that nothing has improved.

Here's a question for all the Total War fans: will there ever be a Total War game set in the 20th century? And should there a game in that time period in the first place?

I used to fantasize about CA making one and do think its possible to construct given enough effort and innovation.
Dont think it will ever happen now though with the publisher involvement and the trend of rehashing the same old shit indefinitely (they cant even get that right ffs).

At least we have wargame.

Shogun 2: FotS goes as late as around 1880s I think? That's about as close as you are gonna get. The TW-style game wouldn't really work for most 1900s conflicts. Rather ironic seeing as how the concept of Total War comes from the 20th century.

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Divinity: Original Sin 2
Played Rome for an hour and it was blast compared to this faggot shit; What happened to you TW; You were so cool.

(and why those stupid Fucks at CA didn't used MTW2 engine which plays and looks better)

Concept of Total War came from Rome and II Punic War, where Romans lost army after army and then just raised new ones instead of conceding defeat like most states then did; they coordinated war on 3 theaters; while being unable to defeat Hannibal in Italy they came for his supply base in Spain and then landed an army in Africa. End result Man who never lose a battle until Zama lost the war. This or Peloponesian War between Sparta and Athens.

Can't see it really working when combat stops using units in formations. Well at least retaining the feel of a TW game that way.

It helped alot that Hannibal was essentially the only really good commander for Carthage. Basically every other time the Romans fought against them in the Second Punic war, they were either facing a terrible commander with a decent army, a decent commander with a terrible army, or a terrible commander with a terrible army, while Rome was able to consistently produce quality troops under commanded by big fucking bastards like Scipio Africanus and Fabius Maximus. Basically all they needed to do was keep Hannibal occupied while their other armies simply landed in Spain smashed through everything else Carthage had to offer and force him to withdraw.

This game is such a fucking disappointment. God fucking damn it. I very rarely buy games and I had such high hopes for this. Every game I buy day 1 turns out to be fucking shit. For fucks sake.
