Well if that's the case then... Anyone who plays half assed VR "mods" that require keyboard and mouse should just play flatscreen. And then kill himself in the most gruesome way possible.

Well i got scammed. $750 down the drain. But i bought in the end "second" RTX4090 for $1250...
Jesus fuck 4090 is sooo fucking fast. And this comes from the guy that had 3090 for past 1,5 year.

When last time i tried Cyberpunk 2077 in VR i could get only ~40fps with low-medium settings with no raytracing at around 1600x1600. I did try pathtracing but i would get like 5 fps.
Video from 3090 and Quest 2:

This is RTX4090 and Pico 4, max details + pathracing:

Weirdly LukeRoss mod changes something and video feed looks choppy in 2D but it is very smooth in actual VR.

Eh, a couple of those are probably Red Matter 2 tier
Haven't tried them myself yet: just posted them because they have convenient, free demos

I've been on a 4090 since launch week and unless the 5090/6090 has some bullshit feature they arbitrarily lock me out of, I have zero desire or need to upgrade because I'm already getting well above what I need at native 4K and that's not even factoring in DLSS and frame generation.

Whatever Valve puts out next (if ever) I'll be ready. Especially if they do some sort of foveated rendering.

For some reason i forgot to mention what was now my experience on c77 with 4090.

went from:
3090 -> 4090
1660x1660 per eye -> 2300x2300 per eye
low-medium details -> max details
no raytracing -> path tracing
~40-50fps -> 70fps (lock)

They must have downgraded the living shit out of this game. I'd pirate it but i have Q2 and i'm not switching to Q3 any time soon.

Looks pretty good. Wiping the blood of the screen to be able to read it (at 4:58 in the video) is such a cool little interaction.

The latest game i've tried was Asgard's Wrath 3. Mainly because I got a free trial of it for a month and I figured "why not".

And you know what? It's a damn improvement from the usual fare so far, at least in terms of gameplay and presentation. The intro was memorable and enjoyable, I actually lingered a while to take it all in. The game is heavily Norse mytholoy related. Anything Norse Mythology related is not my cup of tea, but I will say that they do it service and it isn't just a GoW clone. The Norns are really unsettling in a good way, nightmare fuel without intending to be.

Combat is responsive and tight, it has the classic throwing weapons which I never tire of, but you can choose a shield instead. There may be other characters with different skill sets, the games story certainly implies there are, but I haven't actually pushed into the story yet, i've just been fighting and exploring within the challenge mode. And having a good enough time doing it I haven't decided to branch out.

It's really sad that this is another Meta title. Between this and Echo, they've proven you can do competent gameplay in VR that does something unique, even with some cobbled-together studio run by a company that knows nothing about gaming. It's not just a gimmick.

No one mentioned it here, but looks like Metro Awakening (Khan is a protagonist in this one) was out more than a week ago. I completely missed it's release given that the game is blocked for me. I'm gonna get it from le happy gift merchants this christmas i think. Or maybe not. Not sure if it's any good.

Anybody played it?

I got oculus quest 2. Tried Subnautica and it felt okay moving with a thumbstick in it. But then tried moving with a thumbstick in Alyx and holy fuck, inner ear kicked in and I lost balance.

I see some videos from Cybergunk VR etc and people just move with a thumbstick. Isn't it a problem?

Also recommend me some stuff to play. I got Blade & Sorcery, Alyx, VR Skyrim (doubt i'll enjoy it), Beat Saber (eh), Subnautica (not fun, because I already played it in 2d).
I'll have to give Oculus back in a few days.

I'm also getting a mild headache from it, plus all my body hurts from standing and moving so much. I suppose it's common?

If you are new use teleportation it helps massively with adjustement to VR in case of problems like yours.
IT depends on people some have no issue some have heavy issues.

I had medium issues at start but it went away in two weeks.
Today i can do what i want in VR and i don't get vertigo nausea or anything.

Try racing games, they are perfect games to get into VR and get used to it.

The first day I got VR I played it for like 5 hours and just went through different games, including Wipeout, a super fast game where you're flipping inside a cockpit all the time. At the end of my session I had to lay down and felt like throwing up. The next day I woke up dizzy and had a huge headache that persisted for the next 4 days. After that I got back into VR and never felt motion sick till this day.

If you're up for some arcady shooting action, Pistol Whip is great and you won't feel motion sick. Works great on the standalone too.
