Ashley’s segment wasn’t only in the Japanese version in the original game. The Japanese only thing about that section in the original was it had classic Resident Evil camera angles as opposed to the third person camera.

what kind of psychopath thought RE4 needed a remake
Why wouldn't they do it? Resident Evil 4 has a huge fanbase, and all their other remakes were a success. No reason not to grab into more willing wallets again. And from a people's perspective, I suppose they are enough fanboys out there who wanted it really badly. No matter how it would end up.

Capcom announced the game sold 4 million copies on the second week it was out. This game is likely going to be one of their best selling Resident Evil games. So whoever over at Capcom thought remaking Resident Evil 4 was a good idea made the right call.

When you add up the gold edition of RE5 and the PS4/Xbox one versions, it is still the best selling game. It is selling to this day actually. I do not know why they do not combine different SKUs of the older games, but they do for the new ones. I.e. RE7 is combined with gold edition, but RE5 is spread among at least 3 SKUs.
That game was a Monster Hunter World of its era for Capcom moneywise.
EDIT:
Resident Evil 5PS3, Xbox 360, DL8.70
Resident Evil 5PS4, Xbox One, DL2.70
Resident Evil 5: Gold EditionPS3, Xbox 360, DL2.30
TOTAL: 13.7 Million of copies sold. The first, oldest SKU includes the steam version. Switch is not on the list as it did not make at least a million copies sold, but it is safely in the hundreds thousands.

It's interesting what a huge sales success was SF2 back in the day

SF2 for SNES 6.3 mil
SF2 Turbo for SNES 4.1
Super SF2 for SNES 2
SF2 Champinoship for Mega Drive 1.65

That's over 14 mill total not taking into account other versions that didn't sell over a million, when console and video game sales were much lower than today and if you take into account the huge success that it was at the arcades and the lower cost of production compared to today's games it must have been a money printing machine

PS Mega Drive's SF2 sales were just 1.65 compared to SNES' 12.4,lol SNES master race baby, take that Mega Drive peasants

The thing with Street Fighter 2 is it was one of the biggest games ever made. It’s estimated Street Fighter 2 made $10 billion, with the vast majority of that being the arcades.

I’m a little surprised Capcom hasn’t made a new 2D Street Fighter (even if just a remake of Street Fighter 2) they can just put on everything. Something up to the visual fidelity of a Vanillaware game or something. The kind of thing they could comparatively do for a low cost. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers sold half a million on Switch in a little under a year, and that’s just a Super Turbo update with two new characters.

They could make a really nice looking 2D Street Fighter with nice HD art for a little over a million and get a pretty great return with just the kind of numbers they got with Ultra on Switch.

https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/resi...incredible-ai-powered-ada-wong-voice-mod/amp/
ProMontreal and Destructo have released an incredible AI-powered mod for Resident Evil 4 Remake that replaces Ada Wong's voice.
We're at the point where AI is out-acting real live voice actors...

for comparion - there are the older actersses

wow they are all good except re4r and re2r isnt bad but a step back from prior voices imo

Make the Codex Great Again! RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Finally started playing this. It's good, challenging, with tons of gameplay variety. I never really know what's coming next. "Karma drops" do a good job keeping me almost out of ammo, and having to switch weapons a lot when I don't want to. The rudimentary stealth adds a new layer of fun. The combat feels great. I keep coming back to it to play "just one more sequence until the next typewriter" when I meant to be doing other things. If you're thinking about playing it for what it is (instead of what it's not), definitely grab it because what it is is good.

Killing both chainsaw guys in the Village Square on Hardcore (and starting from scratch) was totally not worth the time and effort I put into it. But it feels good to have done it (and rock the two emeralds I got from them). What an introduction to a game.
