If only the modders spent this effort on actually cool costumes. Like for RE2 and 3 they could have replaced Jill and Claire's plain jeans and tank tops with 1998-style clothes. Never been interested in playing these games like a long joke.
They did

See that kinda confuses me
The footage looks cool as hell, like a more "deliberate" version of RE6 combat
But then you have reports like yours and it just paints an opposite picture...

it's not easy to pull something like this off, whoever did the video probably had to reload a checkpoint multiple times.

Also the cool flip-cocking terminator 2 shotgun is locked behind pre-order bonus :deathclaw:

You can buy the two guns as DLC, I think they're $2 each.

Digital Foundry found some weird issues, like the game only rendering its highest quality textures if you run it at 4K.

So despite the gameplay design not being as tight as the original, the game is still challenging?

Never got into Mercenaries in RE5 for some reason.
IMO RE5 Mercenaires mode is the superior version of the entire franchise
Capcom should've done a standalone version with many more maps and characters

Finished the game. Almost flawless remake. Capcom nailed it.

Sad that Leon is still a faggot, but oh well. This Ashley is way cuter than the original. Wish they had leaned more on her character development. The few moments we have are really nice, like when she helps Leon against the armors by throwing the lamps at them.

I was surprised by how good the music was in some of the boss fights, particularly the Salazar and Kaiser ones. The latter one had 2 excellent fights, best in the series. Some metal gear shit. Too bad he's still a random ass character. Should have had more focus.

I remember this game. I beat it on my roommate's PS2 twice I think. I got way too good at it. I could kill just about every enemy with melee weapons. I remember my roommates telling me that the chainsaw guy in the beginning was invulnerable, and that you just had to survive the encounter. Boy were they all surprised when 10K gold popped out of his corpse.

Also, lol at Ash (of all people) getting suprised that this remake is more faithful than the remakes of 2 & 3, overall. Of course nu-Capcom is gonna treat their precious RE4 better than the previous entries.

Fair point. I was just expecting them to RE6/7/8-ify the game. Soulless simp bait. Sheep in wolves clothing. For the gameplay to be without any actual substance. Somehow, it looks like they didn't, but it's probably because it is kind of hard to fuck up a RE4 remake since it is already relatively accessible action goodness, in addition to the devs and fanbase having a stronger connection to it than the older, somewhat more niche and nuanced games.

Whoever reported that the sewer section is gone is a fucking liar.

You are certainly more patient than I am

Apparently, Capcom thought Mercenaries was too hard or time-consuming as well, because it wasn't included in the achievements for the Steam version. Found it fun at the time. Never got into Mercenaries in RE5 for some reason. Just noticed as I checked the achievements that they renamed the Steam version to "Resident Evil 4 (2005)."

RE5 Mercenaries got fucked by the balance for head-to-head multiplayer; none of the characters are as fun because of it. The maps aren’t as good either. The maps aren’t as good either, like I can still remember the RE4 Mercenaries maps and I haven’t played that game in maybe 15 years. On the other hand the only RE5 Mercenaries map I really remember (outside of the opening one) is the Mines; and that might have less to do with the stage itself than the odd circumstances around the last place I played it at.

RE5 Mercenaries is fun in co-op multiplayer, that was a nice addition. But now it’s like: Why would you even play RE5 co-op Mercenaries when RE6 co-op Mercenaries is a thing?

but it is gone.

The only section that's somewhat reminiscent of the sewers was a spiked cave, the one before Verdugo encounter. And not only the cave is way shorter and overall worse than the sewer section from the original game, it also happens AFTER you already killed a whole horde of novistadors in the ballroom. So since you already know what you're dealing with, the tension is gone.

Bullshit, you're the dummy.

1. He could be speaking of the impact this has on first timers.
2. despite his knowledge of them, he had no knowledge of RE4 Remake's version of them going in. What do they look like? How do they behave? Where are they positioned? Maybe they're cut? OH fuck this was the part they appeared in the original, where are they? I know from before they were invisible, so any minute now they'll jump me from behind surely!

Brilliant enemy (in the original at least, can't speak for them here), too bad they never mixed them once or twice with the normal baddies, even if that affects realism/believability. Not even used in Mercenaries. Pussies.

I have a feeling that in the inevitable Separate Ways DLC you’re going to fight Ramon Salazar controlling his giant macha Ramon statue. The statue is right there, there’s already a smaller version of this in the game. Seems like a setup for a new boss fight for Separate Ways, and a nice way to explain it other then being some giant moving clockwork statue.

Definitely a good point, the novistadors were placed in a very tense way in the original and made me feel afraid as I progressed through the game. But in the remake, they're more like annoying bugs.

They do even more stuff than in the original.

Both mayor "appearances" of the novistators from the original are included in the remake. The sewers section has been moved after the salazar's trap, being the same thing (the novistators here are invisible and you must detect them by looking at the water and their eyes). Also the room where Ashley gets kidnnaped by them in the original has been redesigned, and it's included before the other one. In this one they camouflage with the environment like an octopus. The only room they had "cut" is the one where you must turn the lights on to melt a iron door, which was pretty bland in the original tbh.

Overall, they have more impact in the remake than in the original, appearing in more parts in the island, they are relevant even to the story of the game (Their lore is rewritten). Shit, they even appear at
the final boss fight.
