I tried few games first rance 3 I think I'm halfway through, but the game is mega boring I didn't have to level once because devil lady solo everyone and I don't like young rance 2 much so for now game is on hold

Kichikuou Rance not a bad game but it's annoying that you can save only at the start of the turn, I did 200f dungeon and had to reload lol because sill died in defensive battle.

Rance6 cool dungeon crawler not a fan of orb grinding, but I think I manage to finish it soon fantastic cast of characters so far I like everyone.

There's quite a few hidden doors, you might have missed some in earlier maps.

You can set up machine translation via texthook for 10, and I assume 9 as well. It's perfectly playable, but the quality of machine translation varies a lot from sentence to sentence. I'd recommend to finish all the (fan-)translated games first.

Both games have english interface patches I think, which probably makes the gameplay work even with no japanese skills.

You might have found it via google already, but afaik the current best setup for playing japanese VNs is https://github.com/Artikash/Textractor + deepL. You only get half a million characters free per month though.

The worst thing about getting into Rance is that you start with the best game in the series, so you can only go downhill from there.

In time you will at least get to finish on a high note with Rance X, but that's a few years away...

9 seems likely, 03 seems incredibly unlikely. Did they even pick up a translator for it? The guy working on X is too busy with that to be working on 03.

I honestly think an optimistic estimate is 23 - 9, 24 - 03, and then X in 2025.

Also if you do end up playing X I can share my cached translations and so on, should let you get by on fewer actual requests to deepL.

Man, it's such decline that they put such low-tier* stuff on gog, but (presumably) refuse to sell Rance.

* I haven't played either of the beat games but I hear the gameplay is insanely basic.

I took a 4 month break from Rance 03 for various reasons, resumed my playthrough today.

I think I'm pretty close to the end though, as I have taken north and south. I expected chaos to get quite a bit of screen time in this one, since the next time he appears is in 6, but it doesn't seem like there will be a lot of time for that.

Ah, the first demon king. Makes sense, feel a bit bad I missed the connection. Also translating ククルククル as khuf/khulf seems a bit weird...
