Interesting. Very interesting.

I certainly have the will to use these, do I have the ability? Let me think back to my training....

Did I miss it, but what was up with Uvan's belt? Did anyone check it out?
It has the power to keep pants from falling.

Then what was causing the ropes to snare everyone. I've been a time zone zombie for the past week so I probably read something wrong.
Uvan uttered a phrase in Pictish "Bind" and the rope leapt from his belt, animated by some unseen force

Rashid rains down a stream of piss on the Pictman's head and he does not stir. He appears to be not only knocked insensate, but he is fairly badly wounded (probably from whatever it was that killed the rest of his men).

Got it, thanks.

Since no one else has laid a claim to it, Rhenmyr swaps the mithril mail for his leathers while the others try to wake the Pict. Then he examines the fallen warband with the mirror and refills his quiver if there are arrows among the fallen.
What are the exact stats? 5 lb chainmail?

The mail is +5 AC (eqv to banded mail) and is functionally equivalent to leather armor in terms of its hindrance to stealth/thief skills; i.e. no penalty to the throw on a d20 vs the usual skill/ability check penalty of -5 (this rule is on the last page of the house rules document for more information)

Rhenmyr finds ample arrows to fill his quiver to a full score and finds nothing unusual or untoward about the fallen men.

Just to reiterate our discussion via PM, so everybody else is aware. There are professional torturers' guilds and guild members in various parts of the world that could probably make full use of the implements in this kit, but that doesn't prevent anybody from improvising with them.

Just a rule note. Subdual damage heals naturally at 1 hp per hour. Uvan could be out for a bit.

Rhenmyr returns to the group after replacing his few spent arrows and checking the warband. "His troops look human. If we're lucky there won't be many like Uvan. As to him, If wont awaken, perhaps we should seek the spear first and question him later. I imagine Fidach and Oona can handle him in his weakened state."

Fidach nods, "Aye, there's nothing here we can't handle. Go quickly though, this place makes my hairs stand on end."

Saluting Fidach, Rhenmyr says, "We want to talk to him, but don't be heroic. Put him down if you have to." He then leads the way back to the snake chamber.

Brands held aloft, the troupe files into the crypt one more time. Brule indicates that he'll stand near the crypt entrance so he can keep an ear out for trouble both within and outside. He seems deeply suspicious of Uvan and worried about his brother and niece.

After several minutes of carefully picking your way around the pit and then gently descending down the sloped passage to the main crypt, you are now standing in the rectangular chamber with the hundreds of withered snake skins as well as the corpse of the strange man-snake hybrid.

The massive stone "portal" on the north wall is scribed with dozens of spiral runes and a bas relief depicting a snake coiled around a wolf is carved above it. The portal does not have any handles of visible means of opening it.

To the south is the passage you descended. Above its lintel a narrow slot and passage still looms, a palpable breeze rushes through it making your torches dance and flicker when you stand underneath it. (As before Anything bulkier than clothes will have to be removed to traverse the passage and the only useable weapons would be a thrusting weapon no larger than a shortsword).

Cormac remembers the snake creature fell upon him from above about 20-25' feet in where the passage took a 90 degree turn to the right. The vines and roots that hang from the tunnel's ceiling makes your visibility about a foot in front of your face. Where the tunnel turned to the right Cormac recalls that it went from bare earth to dressed stone.

"Maybe Rashid will find something we missed and get the double doors open. If not, I'll take Uvan's short sword and put this shiny armor to the test in the tunnel....with proper precautions as when Cormac ventured in."

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Borric studies the carving of the snake coiled around the wolf.
"Hmmm, perhaps this door would open to a "snake" coiled about a "wolf"... Does the Slaver's belt count as a snake? Perhaps wearing that and some wolfskin would open this door?"

"Wait, maybe if we present a bound Slaver to this door, it might open? He is a wolf, is he not?"

"Your words could have merit, Barbarian. But I wouldn't want to go and fetch the Pict unless we knew for certain that the door was magic. Perhaps Urash could check?"

While Borric and Rhenmyr discuss strategy, you both notice Rashid out of the corners of your eye, bend down and furtively examine the snake creature's mouth.
